Abstract

Kutai Kartanegara in the past was part of The Kingdom of Kutai, the oldest kingdom in Indonesia from the 4th to to 13th century. However, the data about this kingdom is very limited including the information about the architecture at that era. The interest to identify the character of Kutai Kartanegara such as the architecture has grown from the government and the society as the media to express the local identity. Thus, this research aims to identify the traditional architectural features of Kutai Kartanegara based on comparative analysis with the house of Lamin Dayak Kenyah and Architecture of Melayu Perak Malaysia. The method used in this research is comparison between traditional architecture of Dayak ethnicity and Malay traditional architecture through literature review. The result of library studies is then compared with the empirical data about traditional architecture of Kutai Kartanegara from field observation and measured drawing to one of the selected cases of traditional house of Kutai. From the findings of this research, it can be concluded that besides there is similarity with the two comparing architectures, the traditional architecture of Kutai has the specialty from the morphological aspect of layout and orientation. In addition, it also functions as single family dwelling with simpler geometrical ornamentation.Key Word: traditional architecture, identity, Kutai Kartanegara.

Abstract

This research aims to measure and evaluate the level of illuminance quality in architecture studio room in relation to the achievement of standard performance and minimum visual comfortableness that should be fulfilled. This study also explores the effect of both illumination quality and quantity to the students physical and psychological performance in conducting visual activities in the architecture studio room. This evaluation will also evaluate the deviation between perception of brightness of users and data measurement by using device related to the achievement of illumination standard of the room. This research is conducted with mix method of quantitative and perceptional with correlational method. The study used empirical data and information from students as the object of research through questionnaire survey and actual data by measurement using luxmeter device to measure the quantity of luminance in the studio room. The data collected indicates that the performance of visual activities that should be achieved require a quite high illuminance quality considering the long duration and continuous activities. This research also explores the importance of determination of visual standard based on the variation of activities compared with the determination of space definition to ensure that all visual activities can be done with optimum performance. The findings indicated that perception of brightness and the adequateness of lighting level in determining visual requirements are two different things in which the adequateness of illuminance level is numerical standard that is determined based on visual observation. The determination of illumination adequacy which is made based on individual perception of brightness may lead to various visual performance standard that may potentially cause illuminance deficiency and as a result may cause various symptoms of eyes fatigues that lead to the decrease of visual performance. Keywords: luminance quality, perception of brightness, continuous visual performance, Architecture studio room

Abstract

Sustainable development is development that can meet the needs of the present without reducing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Educational institutions have an important role in shaping the human character and the future of the world to implement sustainability systems. The Mohammad Hatta UII building is the object of study in research aimed at finding out how much the value of sustainability is applied in development and becomes information for the reader. Now there is an assessment tool that works to assess how high a building's sustainability value is. Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) with Greenship Tools was chosen to be an assessment tool to determine the level of sustainability contained in the object of study by modifying some of the criteria therein. In the assessment process the highest results were obtained in the Appropriate Site Development category where all available points were met, while the Water Conservation category did not get any points at all and the Building Environmental Management category was eliminated in the evaluation aspect. The results of the sustainability calculation based on Greenship criteria from the modified Greenship Existing Building assessment type on the study object obtained 52.94%. To increase points in the assessment will be given several recommendations in the form of design concepts that are expected to be used as a reference in improving facilities to support the value of sustainability in the object of study. Keywords: assessment, development, Greenship, sustainability

Abstract

Preference discrepancy of playground between user (Children) and planners still found in several housing and settlement in Yogyakarta . This happens because of the Choice Model which means that each person and group has a choice of different models especially for children. This paper is an embodiment of the research of the author with the title “Children’s Perception of the Playroom with a Review of Comfort and Security. Case Study in Blimbingsari, Cokrodiningratan and Kotagede Hamlets in Yogyakarta City”. Through the graphic / drawing method, children convey their perceptions to express the desire to play in the public space. Equipped with some pictures documentation of children’s behavior playing, the author studied it uses persepsional analysis to find models of children’s desires for the playroom. The results of the study found that there are 5 elements that express children’s expectations in play, namely communal community, play settings that are full of natural elements, there are tools / media as play media, public amenities as a magnetude gathering of children, and the last element is that children are conducive and safe playing when there is free time and air is comfortable, namely during holidays and afternoons.Keyword: Children’s perceptions, children’s pictures, playing elements

Abstract

Glass Reflectance is the ability of the glass surface to reflect light when passing through the glass surface. All types of glass have this capability (Clear Glass, Tinted Glass, and Reflective Glass). With its ability, not all the light will be passed through the glass because the glass surface will reflect some of the light. The magnitude of reflection depends on the tilt angle of the glass against the light direction. It means if the glass is applied to the building façade and exposed to sunlight, not all sunlight and the heat forwarded into the building. To know the exact tilt angle of the glass when applied to the building, research on the effectiveness of light reflection by the tilt angle of the glass is necessary. This research uses a computer simulation method with hypothetical building objects. This research aims to test how effective the tilt angle of glass reflects the sunlight when applied as the building facade. The tilt angle tested in the simulation is a tilted and rotated glass. The tilt angle effect of the glass can be calculated using the building’s OTTV (Overall Thermal Transfer Value). Keywords: tilt angle glass, OTTV, simulation

Abstract

As time goes by, cities have developed and grown to be crowded and densely populated area that lead to increasing energy consumption in cities. Thus, some guidelines need to be arranged to control the development of cities. Some of the guidelines are related to floor area ratio (FAR), operational energy, embodied energy, and mobility. Those aspects have strong influence on the consumption of energy in the cities in relation to the sustainability of the area future development. This is in line with the essence and objectives of sustainable cities. To calculate the guidelines, this research used experimental method by the means of computer simulation. The study utilized Rhinoceros with the plug in of Urban Modelling Interface (UMI), in which UMI is software that can simulate and calculate the four aspects correctly and accurately. The guidelines for city development are expected to provide comfortability of living to the community of cities during the development process. This research investigated about the development sustainability in Boyolali City. Based on visual observation, the buildings in the five ways intersection of Boyolali are not too crowded and dense with low storey buildings. This research found that the value of FAR is 0.17, the operational energy is 71.48 kWh/m2/year, the embodied energy is 150 kWh/m2/year, and the mobility is 80. The score of FAR still can be improved up to ten times and the value of operational energy, embodied energy, and mobility were still below maximum threshold.Keyword: Sustainable City, Simulation, Urban Modelling Interface.

Abstract

This paper discusses the development and changes in space that occur in the fishermen’s area of Panambungan fisheries in Mariso sub-district, along with the changes in space that occur as a result of reclamation activities and changes in spatial patterns around the fishing settlement area. Changes in the settlement’s spatial pattern show a trend of discrepancies between urban developments and the physical conditions of fishing settlement that can cause a decline in regional values. The study aims to get an overview of the current condition of the fishing settlement of Mariso and their changes based on the 2015-2034 spatial plan of Makassar city, and the consolidated directives that can be done. The results of this study are expected to be an input or a recommendation for Mariso fishing settlement in particular and the fishing settlement in Indonesia in general. The analysis process uses quantitative syntactic analysis with the help of Depthmap X computer software with descriptive quantitative method that is focused on consolidating the Mariso connection fisherman settlement. The results of the study show that the development of the city shows that the Mariso fisherman settlement spatial configuration based on the 2015-2034 Makassar City spatial plan has a better value of space analysis (integration, connectivity, mean of depth, choice and intelligibility), but there is a mismatch of physical spatial functions and patterns with existing fishing settlement. This is indicated by the occurrence of economic activity in the area (interaction), in which there is a change in space that does not support fisherman activities. Keywords: fishing settlement, space syntax, integration
