Abstract

Managing the enactment of an internal quality assurance system requires the proper implementation of internal quality assurance to ensure the quality of Higher Education. The global challenges and dynamics of the development of information technology make Indonesian universities somewhat under pressure. higher education institutions are required to be able to handle changes, both internally and externally, to further strengthen the quality of the learning process. For this reason internal quality assurance plays an intense role in education services. The quality policy of the internal quality assurance system describes an explanation of how a university understands, designs and implements their internal quality assurance system in the provision of higher education services to build, manage and maintain a quality culture. In these documents there is an explanation of backgrounds, objectives, and strategies, to improve the quality in every done task. In the global era, the nature of day-to-day operations tends to get more sophisticated and complex, therefore the internal quality assurance system must be supported by an integrated system in internal processes using information technology such as Document Management Control. Create quality holistic cycles that work best with the uniqueness of the institution itself. This will then result in a "Competitive Advantage" for the institution. Abstract

ABSTRACT Purpose: This study aims to determine the extent of the influence of sukuk negara on financial performance, especially on profitability of sharia banking. Design/methodology/approach: This study begins with data collection from 2008 (the year in which sukuk negara is published) until 2016 by using panel regression method. Purposive sampling was used as sampling technique. Findings: By using panel regression method, it was found that sukuk negara have positive and significant influence to profitability of sharia banking. Other variables such as FDR, NPF, and BOPO have a negative and significant effect on profitability of sharia banking. CAR did not affect the profitability of sharia banking. Research limitations/implications: The sample of analysis is just 11 general sharia banks in period of 2008-2016. Further research can be completed by using more capital market instruments with the financial performance of both general conventional banking and general sharia banking. Practical implications: It can be implied that there is a positive relationship between the syariah capital market sector and the sharia banking sector. This is a signal for the government to pay more attention to the issuance of sukuk negara with competitive returns in order to improve the financial performance of sharia banking. Originality/value: Sukuk Negara as fiscal and monetary policy instruments have a very important role for the development of sharia banking. This means that the increasing interest of Islamic banking in placing funds in sukuk negara will lead to higher yields also obtained by Islamic banking. Abstract

The phenomenon of slum settlements has been increasingly occurring in Indonesia. Slums are characterized by excessive population density which neglects its habitability. This program becomes one of the main agenda of Joko Widodo, the President of Indonesia, having a vision to alleviate slums, one of which is to implement the development program commonly known as National Slum Upgrading Program / KOTAKU. The program aims to create slum areas of 0% and is conducted in more than 100 districts in Indonesia. However, in its implementation, Sidoarjo regency becomes the public spotlight due to its development and achievement in economic growth improvement. This program is conducted in Sidoarjo supported by simultaneous the Regency Regulation enactment. Upon achieving success, Sidoarjo becomes a role model for other regions. Unfortunately, behind the success of development, there are two contradictory conditions, two slum villages having different development results since the development program was implemented in 2015. Bligo village becomes a successful village in establishing the development. Meanwhile, Jiken Village fails in achieving the expected development. Although the two villages share characteristics of being in adjacent location, conducting the same development program, and obtaining the same regional regulatory support, it is however not sufficient to support the success of development. This research is conducted by applying qualitative descriptive approach in order to obtain the result on the importance of participation in development process. The researchers apply the Eight Rungs of Citizen Participation, which can determine that Bligo village enters the stage of citizen control in which the community plays a full role in program implementation. Contrastingly, Jiken village only enters the stage of Informing, where the public only get information from the government related to development programs without any community empowerment. The participation of the community is crucial to the success of the development program. This is due to the existence of self-belonging exerting the ability to create sustainable development achievement.

Abstract

Purpose: This paper aims to determine the challenges in developing riverside property and to identify the investment performance of riverside property development in Malacca. The research was conducted within the case study area namely The Shore Malacca which built next to Malacca River. This riverside development (The Shore Malacca) not only included residential units but also commercial units. It is believed that this type of development is able to bring up the quality of that particular area which then causes the property price to increase. The results were based on the series of interviews conducted with selected respondent which are person directly involved with the development of The Shore Malacca, as well as reviewed several related documents. From the data, there were several challenges identified in developing riverside property in the case study area, and these challenges were then categorised under three category: minor, moderate and major challenges. Moreover, The Shore Malacca has the best investment performance in year 2015 with a highest occupancy rate and the worst investment performance in 2017 with the lowest number of occupied outlet units. This situation happened due to the shrink of economic and the low purchasing power of buyers in real estate market of Malacca. Therefore, this result will help the investor to make decision to investment in Malacca riverfront development and to enhance the economic value of riverfront areas. Design/methodology/approach: This research adopted qualitative research approach along the research process. The Shore Malacca was selected as a case study area. The results were based on the series of interviews conducted with selected respondent which are person directly involved with the development of The Shore Malacca, as well as reviewed several related documents. Findings: The results has identified several challenges while developing The Shore Malacca, and then categorised under three categories: minor, moderate and major challenges. The results also determined the Shore Malacca has the best investment performance in year 2015 with a highest occupancy rate and the worst investment performance in 2017 with the lowest number of occupied outlet units. This situation happened due to the shrink of economic and the low purchasing power of buyers in real estate market of Malacca. Therefore, this result will help the investor to make decision to investment in Malacca riverfront development and to enhance the economic value of riverfront areas. Research limitations/implications: in this research, investment performance is seen from the business performance (operational) in the Shore Malacca. Since some information is considered confidential especially in terms of profit, the results was not viewed holistically, but were based on respondent justifications. Practical implications: Hopefully, this result will help the investor to make decision to investment in Malacca riverfront development and to enhance the economic value of riverfront areas. Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between information technology investment and firm’s performance among Malaysian PLCs. Design/methodology/approach: , The analysis employed panel data approach in which it relied on annual report of companies listed in Bursa Malaysia. This study covered a period between 2009 and 2012, therefore only companies listed within this stipulated period were included in the analysis. Findings: Results of the regression estimation of the dependent variables, based on random effect model shows a high significant on return of investment score. The control variables of firm size and industry did not have a statistically significant influence on the test results. However, IT investment is statistically not significant with return on asset, as there is no relationship between IT investment and ROA. Research limitations/implications: First, this study is using a limited sample data as an established large sample data set in relation to IT investment information in PLC’s is still unavailable. Secondly, this study is unable to investigate a time lag effect due to the limited information available in the annual reports. State your limitation here. Thirdly, the IT investments are divided into two asset classes, but there is several ways to characterize the ?rm’s investment allocations. Practical implications: This study substantiates the need for PLCs to increase their IT investment as the company grows. Information technology strategies need to be developed at par with company’s future direction. Originality/value: This study is one of the first empirically studies done in investigating the relationship between IT investment and firm financial performance in Malaysian PLC’s which is using the public listed companies’ secondary data. The results showed that the implementation of tourism region and infrastructure aspects on a culinary business was within the score range of 80 to 100% or said to be in a very good factual condition. This implied that the employment of tourism region and infrastructure aspects played significantly influential and important roles for the development of tourism region allocated for culinary businesses within the area of THP Kenjeran. Meanwhile, for the implementation of tourism actors and market aspects, it was indicated that the score range was between 15 and 35%, and the implementation of management development aspect was between the score range of 0 and 5%. In other words, the implementations of those aspects were said to be very low in real conditions, especially on the indicators of training, cooperation with stakeholders, and suitable management implementation related to the business. This meant that the employment of tourism actors, market, and management development aspects were not suitable and did not accommodate the management development of the tourism region for culinary businesses within the area of THP Kenjeran.
