Focus and Scope Jurnal Keperawatan Indonesia (JKI, or Nursing Journal of Indonesia) contributes to the dissemination of information related to nursing research and evidence-based study on urban nursing issues in low-middle income countries. The scope of this journal is broadly multi-perspective in nursing areas such as Nursing Education, Clinical Practice, Community Health Care, Management and Health System, Health Informatics, and Transcultural Nursing, with a focus on urban nursing issues in low-middle income countries. JKI is committed to communicating and being open to the discussion of ideas, facts, and issues related to health across a wide range of disciplines. The journal accepts original research articles, synthesized literature, and best practice reports or case reports that use the quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method approach. JKI adheres to journalistic standards that require transparency of real and potential conflicts of interest that authors and editors may have. It follows publishing standards set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Letters and commentaries about our published articles are welcome. All submitted contributions will undergo a blind peer-review process according to appropriate criteria.

Abstract

Urinary incontinence is a treatable condition. It, however, is a possible to tackle incontinence before finding the cause of this problem. The cause of incontinence may be established through an accurate assessment. As the first phase in the process of nursing care, assessment takes a key position to successful outcome. The comprehensive assessment includes questions about history, medication review, a bladder/voiding diary, environmental assessment, physical examination, functional assessment, and additional test such as urinalysis, culture, post void residual measurement, and urodynamic. Inkontinensia urine merupakan kondisi ang dapat ditangani. Penanganan inkontinesia urin ini hanya dapat ditangani secara tepat apabila penyebabnya diketahui terlebih dahulu. Penyebab ini dapat diketahui melalui pengkajian. Sebagai tahap awal dari asuhan keperawatan, pengkajian merupakn kunci eberhasilan dari tindakan yang akan dilakukan. Pengkajian untuk inkontinensia urin ini melipui riwayat kesehatan yang lalu, riwayat medis, catatn harian pemasukan dan pengeluaran cairan, pengkajian lingkungan, pengkajian fisik dan fungsi. Pengkajian yang lain meliputi urinalisi, kultur urin, tes residu urin dan urodinamika.

Abstract

Perawat yang bekerja di ruang rawat klien kritikal mempunyai peran yang penting dalam menurunkan angka kesakitan dan kematian klien dengan trauma kepala melalui pengkajian dan intervensi dini. Menit-menit pertama merupakan waktu kritikal yang sangat menentukan apakah klien akan mengalami penurunan fungsi otak yang progresif atau terjadi perbaikan. Oleh karenanya, deteksi dini dan intervensi yang tepat merupakan kunci keberhasilan. Untuk mendapatkan hasil yang optimal, perawat yang bekerja di ruang rawat kritikal harus meningkatkan cara berfikir kritis dan keterampilannya secara teratur. Koordinasi kerja dengan tenaga kesehatan lain juga penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan pelayanan. Nurse has an important role in reducing morbidity and mortality of patients with head injuries through meticulous assessment. First minutes after cerebral trauma are a critical time that determine – patient experience severe deteriorated cerebral function or experience improvement of cerebral function. Therefore, early detection and accurate nursing intervention will be the critical activities in a achieving successful results. To get a goo result, critical care nurse need to improve their critical thinking and skills continuously. Good coordination among health care team may help the best possible outcome in managing patients with severe head injuries.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to explore how nurses who work in the specific nursing care facilities express their caring behavior to patients with special needs. A descriptive explorative research design was conducted, and a thirty item questions was administered to nurses who work in ICU, CCU, Casualty/Emergency, Stroke unit, and hemodialysis units in hospitals in Jakarta Metropolitan. The questions were derived from ten carrative factors of Watson’s theory of Caring (Watson, 1994). One hundred sixty five questions was distributed during a month of data collection period, and only 102 questionnaires fulfilled the criteria. Among the findings showed that more than 75% of respondents appreciated clients as persons who have privascy and dignity. The recommendations were directed to nursing authority in the area of education that caring spirit should be grown since the early years of nursing education. In addition, the nursing managers should pay more attention to create conducive environment for nurses to build more cohesive – trust relationship with clients and families. Further research needs to be conducted to cover large subjects, different area of nursing practice, and in a longitudinal observation involving additional sub variables.

Abstract

Informasi dalam keperawatan semakin dirasakan pentingnya, baik dalam penyusunan rencana strategis, pengambilan keputusan maupun dalam menilai efektifitas dan efesiensi dari pelayanan keperawatan. Salah satu contoh manajemen informasi yang akan dikemukan adalah tentang kebutuhan anak yang dirawat dengan Bronchopneumonia pada setiap tahapan discharge planning (rencana pemulangan pasien). Tahapan yang satu meyediakan informasi penting, dan sangat menetukkan pada tahapan selanjutnya. Semua data yang didapatkan pada fase akut yang dilaksanakan di klinik anak dan atau di ruang gawat darurat, diproses oleh tim kesehatan dengan menggunakan pengetahuan dasar dan membandingkannya (comparing system) dengan data dasar keperawatan dan pengetahauan kedokteran, fisiologi, patofisiolohi, sosiologi, psikologi, dan farmakolohi. Dengan demikian akan didapat informasi tentang masalah anak tersebut dan kebutuhan pada fase berikutnya yaitu fase transisi yang dijalankan di ruang rawat. Demikian pula proses manajemen informasi dari fase transisi yang dilakukan di ruang rawat akan sangat menentukan langka selanjutnya yaitu perawatan lanjutan di rumah/di masyarakat. Mengingat kegiatan penyusunan rencana pemulangan pasien pada anak yang dirawat dengan BP melibatkan tim multidisiplin, maka penting adanya seorang coordinator yang dapat mengatur kegiatan dari setiap anggota tim, sehingga tujuan dari rencana pemulangan pasien dapat dicapai dengan optimal. Perawat adalah orang yang paling tepat sebagai coordinator penyusunan rencana pemulangan pasien, karena berada di dekta pasien selama 24 jam, memahami segala kebutuhan pasien dengan baik, dan memungkinkan untuk dapat memfasilitasi peran dari setiap anggota tim untuk mengelola informasi rencana pemulangan pasien bagian anak yang dirawat dengan BP. It has been discussed that information in nursing becomes important in making a strategic planning. Decision making or evaluating the affectivity an the efficiency of the nursing service. One of the example of Information Management that would be describe is the children’s need who are hospitalized with Bronchopneumonia in every step of Discharge Planning. Each step provides the essential information, which could determine the next step. All the data which have been gained in the acute phase at the out patient department and/ or at the emergency department are processed by using the knowledge base, compare it with the data base of nursing, medical knowledge, physiology, patophysiology, sociology, psychology and pharmacology. As the outcome from this process, the information about the child’s problems and their needs in the transitional step will be gained. It is also occur on the management information at the transitional step in the ward, it will determine the following step as the preparation for discharge planning. Discharge Planning for the child to have a coordinator, because he/she is in the ward 24 hours and understand the patients’ condition and their needs well. He/she also could facilitate the role of each member of Discharge Planning team, to manage the information about Discharge Planning for a child with Broncho Pneumonia.

Abstract

Keperawatan merupakan suatu profesi yang sangat penting dan menentikan dalam pemberian pelayanan kesehatan. Di rumah sakit keperawatan juga memegang peranan yang sangat strategis, dimana kebanyakan tenaga kesehatan adalah para perawat yang memberikan asuhan keperawatan. Pelayanan keperawatan yang bermutu dapat dicapai salah satunya tergantung pada seimbangnya anatara jumlah tenaga dan beban kerja perawat di suatu institusi. Kebutuhan kana tenaga keperawatan ini sebenarnya dapat dilihat dari situasi sehari-hari, disamping ada cara-cara yang harus digunakan dalam memperkirakan kebutuhan tenaga. Adapun cara-cara tersebut adalah menurut cara Rasio, Need, Demand, Gilies (1989), hasil lokakarya keperawatan dan Formulasi Nina. Dari cara tersebut yang sering digunakan adalah Cara Gilies (1989), hasil lokakarya keperawatan dan metode Formulasi Nina. Tujuan penulisan ini dimaksudkan sebagai bahan masukan bagi pembuat rencana tentang kebutuhan tenaga di rumah sakit dan utamanya bagi profesi keperawatan. Nursing is an important profession which determined the quality of health care. As the majority of health care team at hospital was merely nurses, nursing has a leading and strategic role in it. And one of requirements to make a high quality of nursing services is balancing between the quantity of nursing staffs and nursing work load in an institution. Actually, we can easily view the demand of nursing resource from daily situations. Due to this difficulty, we can adopt some methods to predict the demand of nursing staffs. Some of theories are according to Ration, Need, Demand, Gilies (1989), method from nursing consortium and nina formulation’s theory. Purpose of this essay writing is as an input for nursing managers and nursing staff planner at hospitals and mainly for nursing profession in order to enchance their knowledge in nursing resources management.
