Abstract

Education is an effort to improve knowledge, one of which is by conducting studies on the Qur'an and Mathematics. This research examines the verses of the Qur'an containing odd-even concepts and their relevance to mathematics. By using the library research method, the verse selection step is taken from observations of the translated Qur'an. The mathematical concepts found are materials related to odd-even concepts, such as KPK (Least Common Multiple) and FPB (Greatest Common Factor), Venn diagrams, and Phi in ṭawwāf. As the result, the number of verses and the number of surahs show odd-even numbers. If the numbers are added up to 38, these will be equal to the number of letters in the syahādah sentence.

Abstract

This article discusses the tendency of Tafsīr 'Ilmī in Imam Suyuti's interpretation of the plague verses. Interestingly, as a classical commentator, he interprets the plague verses in his commentary books using the traditions of the Prophet (naqli), but he explains about the plague in addition to his commentary books by referring to the interpretation of the plague verses which are supported by scientific data. To analyze the tendency of this interpretation (ittijāh al-tafsīr), the researcher uses the theory of scientific interpretation. This research is qualitative in nature and uses content analysis methods, especially the istiqra (inductive) method. The istiqra method is used to analyze his interpretation of the plague verses that are spread in his commentaries and his books on epidemics and medicine. The purpose of this study is to reveal the indications of the trend of scientific interpretation explored by Imam Suyūt}ī in his books on epidemics and medicine by referring to his interpretations in his commentary books, so this research is urgent to confirm the historical roots and dynamics of Tafsīr 'Ilmī, whose epistemological tendency has emerged in the era of classical scholars. The results of this study are, first, in general, the method of interpretation of Imam Suyūt}ī is bi al-ma'ṣūr. Second, Imam Suyūtī's interpretation of the plague verses in Ṭā'ūn and medical themed books tends to 'Ilmi' Tafsir in terms of a more scientific explanation of the narrations that are in accordance with science, medical and socio-historical. Third, the scientific tendency in Imam Suyūt}ī's interpretation is in historical and medical.

Abstract

One of the problems that always exists in every human being is negative emotions. This study aims to find out how to control emotions in the Qur’an through deepening the meaning of the word kaẓim with the sematic approach of Thosihiko Izutsu. This term is repeated 6 times which is covered in 6 surahs. Each verse contained in various surahs certainly has a different meaning, so it requires a deep understanding. The semantics of the Qur’an according to Izutsu is an attempt to reveal the world view (weltanschauung) through semantic analysis of the vocabulary or key terms of the Qur’an. The process carried out in this research is to examine the basic meaning, relational meaning, and historical meaning of the word kaẓim. The result of this research is that the word kaẓim based on the semantic analysis of Toshihiko Izutsu is a word that contains full meaning and closes it tightly. Signaling unfriendly feelings in one’s heart either because of anger, sadness, disappointment, shame, fear, and irritation, his mind is always demanding revenge, but he holds those feelings in his heart. Therefore, there are 4 ways to control emotions in kaẓim terms, namely, with prayer, dzikrullah, patient, and silence.

Abstract

The stories of the Quran are one of the interesting topics in the Quranic studies. Every story in the Qur'an contains various wisdom and lessons. One of the stories mentioned in the Quran is the story of parents and children. In this article, the author presents two stories of parents and children in the Koran, namely the story of Prophet Nuh As. and his disobedient son and the story of Prophet Ibrahim As and his son who was pious and devoted to his parents, namely Prophet Ismail As. This study uses a descriptive-analytical method. Using this Method, the author gathered Quranic verses relating to two stories and subsequently elaborated and analyzed the wisdoms on child education contained in the stories. Based on this method there are several research results: First; The story of Nuh As and his son showed us the distinct behavior of humans. Prophet Nuh As represents a father who believes and responsible on his Child’s education, while his son, Kan'an represents a child who is disbelieving and disobeying to his father. Second; The story of Prophet Ibrahim As and his son, Prophet Ismail as showed us a strong relationship between a father and his son. Prophet Ibrahim as represents a father who is faithful and responsible on his child’s education, while Prophet Ismail as represents a child who is faithful, tough and strong. Third; Some aspects of education in child care based on these two stories are faith education (the first education that must be given to children) and moral education, which is a reflection of faith education. This moral education will be achieved by three elements, namely in the form of exemplar, advice and environment.

The Qur'an as the main source of law in Islam rules various kinds of criminal offenses and their punishments called Jarīmah. This is relevant to the purpose of God's laws implemented for the benefit and happiness of human beings. This article aims to present the discourse of Islamic criminal law in the Indonesian context. First, the punishments directly mentioned in the text are ḥudūd, qiṣaṣ, diyāt and kafarāt. Second, the punishment uncovered by the text is the ta'zīr punishment. Furthermore, there are four kinds of relations in the punishment, namely; 1) principal punishment, 2) substitute punishment, 3) additional punishment, and 4) complementary punishment. Abstract

The development of al-qirā’āt al-sab' is an activity that is necessarily conducted by every qirā’ah teacher (qāri'). It is essential to transfer the correct readings according to the provisions recommended in Islamic law. Therefore the development of al-qirā’āt al-sab' must be encouraged in the Langsa City community. The purpose of this study was to see the qirā'ah (qāri') teachers in developing the al-qirā'āt al-sab' learning method in Langsa City. By conducting interviews with qirā'āt teachers in Langsa City and using qualitative data analysis, it shows that the qāri's develop al-qirā’āt al-sab' by holding al-qirā’āt al-sab' learning in their respective homes. The methods used are bi al-ifrād, Jibrīl, Talaqqī, and bi al-jamā' with practical learning models. The community's positive responses to al-qirā’āt al-sab' learning activities help them to learn al-qirā’āt al-sab,' while the negative ones are they felt prestige or embarrassed and thought it was unimportant to participate in this activity.

Abstract

The interpretation of the Qur'an, especially the word jihād fī sabīlillāh, is often trapped in a standard interpretation legitimized by closed interpretations. The secure interpretations make the meaning of the word lose its original purpose. This specific interpretation makes the meaning of the word jihād fī sabīlillāh lose its original meaning. This article aims to find a methodological review that might be able to open the veil that closes the interpretation of ijtihad in the original meaning of the jihād fī sabīlillāh pronunciation. Julia Kristeva, as one of the thinkers of poststructuralism, introduced the semanalist concept known for its revolutionary interpretation methodology. This research is a type of qualitative research with the analytical-descriptive method. This study will explain the concepts of Kristeva's interpretation of a text and then applied to the interpretation of the pronunciation of Jihad. The study results conclude that the interpretation of Jihad as war is an institutional meaning. In contrast, the hidden meaning of the pronunciation of Jihad, such as 'sincerity', does not get attention and tends to be neglected.

Abstract

This study aims to explain how aspects and forms of vernacularization in Tafsir al-Ibriz li Ma'rīfati Tafsīr Qur'ān al-'Azīz by Bisri Mustofa. As an interpretation still being studied from the beginning until today, especially in pesantren in Java, Tafsir al-Ibriz occupies an important position in the community. This interpretation, completed in 1964, shows the form and aspects of the Qur'an's localization in the context of Javanese society. Based on library research and the descriptive-analytical method, this article indicates that Bisri Mustofa's vernacularization can be seen from two aspects: firstly, in terms of language or terms. Generally, the language used in the interpretation of al-Ibriz is the Javanese language and some terms for laypeople. Therefore, some local languages and terms appear, such as Rojo Koyo, Sathu Galak, and Celathu. From the aspect of vernacular, it can be said that Tafsir al-Ibriz describes the social context of Javanese Islam well at the time when this interpretation of the Qur'an was written.

This article aims to explore the concept of hate speech in the Qur'an, its narrative form, and the Qur'an's response to hate speech behavior. The object is al-Qur'an Surah al-An'am [6] verse 108, which contains the narrative of hate speech. Using qualitative methods and content analysis, this article concludes that in Surah Al-An'am [6] verse 108, there is a prohibition on hate speech, namely the banning of insulting followers of other religions. This form of humiliation can take the form of insulting places of worship and religious symbols and even forcibly disbanding religious events. Besides that, in Surah al-An'am [6] verse 108, also teaches about religious moderation by inviting Muslims to have tolerance in religion and respect for followers of other religions by not insulting or disturbing them according to what is said in the text of the Qur'anic verse. It is hoped that this research can be one of the efforts to support religious moderation programs in Indonesia so that Muslims can provide peace for all religious people and show the face of Islam, Rahmatan Lil 'alamīn.
