Abstract

Background: Chronic Complication of DM patient that the most founded is neuropatic diabetic. It related to chronic hyperglicemic that can damage vascular and the neuron. In 2010, Prevalence odf chronic complication on DM patient around 22,7% until 54,0%. One of tthe non farmacological therapy is Range of Motion of limb joint movement exercise.. This research aims to know the effect of limb joint exercise actively on sensoric neuropaty DM type 2 with no ulcus. Method: Desain quasy-experimental pre-post test design with purposive sampling technic. Consist of 20 group of intervention and 20 group of control. The Intervention group have to make a ROM exercise and the Control group not make that. All of the group must be observed three times in a week for one month with the using of 10 g monofilamen for protection sensation and Diabetic Neuropathy Symptom (DNS) question for the polineuropaty perifer (PNP) complaint. Wilcoxon Statistik test for dependen test and  Mann-Withney test for the independent tes with significancy (ɑ=0,05). Results: the research result show that there is a difference on mean value of protection sensation intervention group between pre with post test on lright food and left food p=0,0001 and PNP ( p=0,005) make a difference on mean value with post test between two group (p=0,001), but not for the mean value of protection sensation. Conclusion: The conclusion from this reseearch is the ROM exercise actively influenced on PNP form the DM patient type 2 with no ulcus. The ROM exercise should be make on 3-5 times on a week for 8 until 12 weeks and doing it comprehensively so that can make the significant influenced.

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes Foot Ulcer (DFU) is one of the most common DM complications, due to several factors including lack of knowledge in foot care, maladaptive behaviors in preventing DFU, and inadequate of education to the community related to the detection of DFU. This study aimed to evaluate family knowledge in detecting the risk DFU in public health centres. Method: This is a quantitative research used descriptive research methods. The instrument used was a questionnaire that consisted of 10 question items. The sample in this study was 40 families and have been educated in the previous studies. Results: The result of this study stated that family knowledge related detection of risk of DFU more better in younger compare to elderly (25% vs 2.5%), and mainly house wife has a good ability in knowledge Conclusions: Family knowledge related to the detection of DFU consider good.

Abstract

Introduction: Infants with low birth weight (LBW) is a major risk factor for increased morbidity and mortality rate. LBW infants that getting treatment in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) will be exposed to various environments and excessive stimulus with various procedures performed that causing stress on the infant. Management strategies that can be done to reduce stress of the excessive stimulus is with developmental care. This literature review is aimed to identify the effectiveness of developmental care on physiological functions of LBW infants in the NICU. Method: Articles were collected from several databases including Medline, CINAHL, EBSCOhost, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Proquest. The keywords were developmental care, low birth weight infant, neonatal intensive care unit, and physiological function were searched for quantitative studies. The articles reviewed were only articles with full text, written in English, and published during period 2013 to 2018. The study was criticized by the author using the Critical Appraisal Tool from JBI (Joanna Briggs Institute). It found 10 articles that related specifically to developmental care on LBW infants in the NICU. Result: Implementation of developmental care for infants in the NICU effective in optimizing the physiological functions of infant, including lowering the pulse and frequency of breath that makes the infant more relaxed. Developmental care can also improve oxygen saturation, reduce pain, reduce gastro esophageal reflux, increase sleep time, and improve neuromuscular maturity. Conclusion: Developmental care facilitate the infant more relaxed. The infant needs regularity of physiological functions and achieving restful sleep to grow and thrive.

Abstract

Introduction: Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) is classified into non-Pneumonia (upper respiratory infection) and Pneumonia (lung or alveoli tissue) ARI. ARI is the second leading cause of death that occurs in infants in Indonesia. Trigger factors that can cause ARI include poor lighting system, unhealthy environment, incomplete infant immunization status, low infant nutritional status, low economic and maternal education status, as well as less optimal health care workers in preventing and controlling the incidence of acute respiratory distress syndrome. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of TRIO DISPA (Three colours detection and early intervention for acute respiratory infections by tabletop learning method) to increase the mother’s knowledge in identifying, interpreting and early treating of ARI symptoms disease in the working area of Pampang Public Health Centre, Makassar City. Method: This study is Quasy Experimental Design which used the Pretest-Postest without Control Group Design. The sample of this study is 20 respondents and use Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test to analyse the data. Results: The study revealed that the family caregiver shows a difference between before and after implementing the TRIO DISPA program which able to interpreted tabletop case simulation. The increase of knowledge based on the pre-post test result using the Wilcoxon test (p=0,001). Conclusion: The TRIO DISPA program can make it easier for the public to understand ARI disease and handling its signs and symptoms.

Abstract

Introduction: The prevalence of constipation has increased significantly as a person ages causing an increase in the incidence of constipation in the elderly can reach 50% and can increase to 74% in patients who are in nursing home. There are a variety of standard interventions used to overcome constipation problems including diet, fluid and physical activity modification. Nursing interventions used to treat constipation are abdominal massage (abdominal massase). The purpose of this review literature is to explain the effectiveness of abdominal massase on constipation and quality of life. Method: The method used to compile the literature review is by searching through an electronic database. Searching for articles is done by using the keywords abdominal massase, constipation, randomized controlled trial, then traced through Scopus, Ebscohost, Sciencedirect, Proquest, Pubmed; 7 articles were selected from the search results, the research design was a randomized controlled trial pre-post test control and group intervention. Results: Based on the article that has been reviewed, abdominal massase intervention has a significant effectiveness in reducing the problems and symptoms of constipation experienced by elderly patients, post-orthopedic surgery patients and patients with multiple sclerosis. Conclusion: Subsequent abdominal massase interventions have also been shown to have an effect on improving the quality of life of patients with constipation.

Abstract

Introduction: The nursing code ethics is a guideline and framework of nurses during delivering nursing care services include making clinical decisions. The Indonesian Nursing Code of Ethics contains 5 principles of nurse's responsibilities such as responsibility to clients’ care. The aim of this study to describe the attitude of nurses towards clients at Hasanuddin University Hospital Makassar as a part of nursing code of ethic translation. Method: This research applied a quantitative study with descriptive survey. There are 95 nurses recruited as respondents through purposive sampling methods. Results: There are 80% of respondents have excellent rate while rest of nurses who have good rate in attitude towards the clients in order to translate the nursing code ethics into clinical practice. Conclusion: The majority of nurses already implemented the nursing code ethics, particularly Indonesian version, into clinical practice. However, examining the whole principles of the ethic codes is still needed in order to improve nursing care quality in hospital setting.

Abstract

Intoduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of a non-infectious disease that increases from year to year. One complication that occurs in DM is Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU). DFU patients cause not only physical effects but also to have psychological effects. One of which is stress. If the patient stress, it can cause one of them is high blood sugar levels, which can affect the wound healing process. To overcome this problem, we using coping, which in this study looks at how Spiritual Coping with DFU patients. This study aims to determine the overview of Spiritual Coping in Patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcer at the Wound Care Clinic in Makassar City. Method: This was s cross-sectional approach. Samples for this research is 52 respondents with consecutive sampling technique. This research was conducted for one month, from September to October 2019. The instrument used for this study was the BRIEF RCOPE questionnaire. Results: Our finding confirmed mainly participant living with DFU has a definite spiritual coping. Conclusion: Overall, patient living with DFU has adopted positive spiritual coping.

Abstract

Introduction: Disaster is an unwanted event and usually occur suddenly and is accompanied by many victims. Disasters can have many impacts, both physical and psychological. The psychological impact that can arise on disaster victims is called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Not only on the victim, the person who served as a helper also can have psychological disorders. Psychological disorders in these helpers are called Secondary Traumatic Stress Disorder (STSD). This study was aimed to  identify factors that influence the incidence STSD the Search and Rescue (SAR) teams in universities and BASARNAS Makassar. Method: This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach using total sampling techniques the samples in this study were all sar and basrnas member (n=60) who agreed to be the respondent and have involved in rescue activity on one last year. Data is collected by distributing questionnaires. Questionnaires used were Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale and Crisis Support Scale.  The statistical test used Chi square test, Mann-Whitney U test and logistic regression analysis. Result: The study showed that there was a relationship between the frequency of exposure, social support, and the length of work (p<0,05) and the incidence of STSD. However, the type of exposure has no significant relationship with the incidence of STSD. Conclusion: Social support is the most significant factor compared to the frequency of exposure, the type of disaster and length of work / joining. This research is expected to provide additional information on STSD risk factors. For future researchers, in order to examine other variables which is trauma history and coping mechanism the SAR team to experience symptoms of STSD

Abstract

Introduction: Traffic accidents are one of the incidents of trauma that are at risk for PTSD. PTSD problems can occur at any age including adults. So it is necessary to screen the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) post-traumatic traffic accidents, especially in adults. Method: The method of this study is Descriptive Cross Sectional used to determine the incidence of PTSD after a traffic accident. The number of samples is 30 people by taking a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study es Weathers, et al.,(2013) standart instrument with a PTSD checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5) consisting of 20 items for the disclosure of information and severity of PTSD symptoms that have been modified in Indonesian by Arnika S (2017).The technique of collecting data uses questionnaires that are given directly and filled online. Data analysis used univariate analysis. Result: The results of this study indicate that respondents who experienced PTSD after a traffic accident were 43.3% (13 people) while those who did not experience PTSD were 56.7% (17 people). As for the PTSD symptom domain, the highest number of hyperarousal symptoms is 60% (18 people) with the most types of injury being fractures and dislocations of 65% (13 people) out of 30 respondents. Conclusion: This study indicate that the symptoms of PTSD after a traffic accident. But the number of respondents who did not experience PTSD more than those who experienced PTSD. The most common symptom is hyperarousal symptoms at the onset of 11-13 weeks after a traffic accident.

Abstract

Introduction: Poor oral hygiene and dental care can affect oral intake which results in decreased endurance and increases the risk of opportunistic or systemic infections. Method: The research was carried out the RSUD dr. M. Haulussy Ambon, Maluku, Indonesia, using a quasi-experimental method, involving 30 nurses and 20 patients. The level of knowledge and skills is evaluated before and after oral hygiene education for nurses. Patients were measured with a Beck Oral Assessment Scale (BOAS) score, and C. albicans yeast culture before and after the intervention was given in the form of oral hygiene using a soft toothbrush and dental floss for one week. Result: The influence of oral hygiene education on nurses knowledge with median value of pre-education 36.00 and post-education 91.00 and nurse skills have median value of pre-education 67.00 and post-education 100.00 with a significant value of p = 0.001 <0.05. There is an increase in knowledge and skills after educational activities. Before oral hygiene treatment was applied with a review of the BOAS score it had a median value of 11.00 after the intervention became 6.00 a significant value of p= 0.001<0.05, which showed a decrease in scores after oral hygiene treatment. Examination of C. albicans fungus with a median value of 79.00 pre-intervention and 31.00 at post-intervention, a significant value of p= 0.001, showed a decrease in the number of post-intervention fungi. Conclusion: Nurses should conducted Oral hygiene regularly to improve oral health status of AIDs patiens.
