Abstract

Children are seriously affected by poverty and suffer particular deprivations. In addition, their situation is most of the time ignored in the strategies devoted to tackling poverty. This study examined the multidimensional poverty of children under five in Benin by identifying its determinants. It used the data from the demographic and health surveys in Benin from 2011-2012 and adopted the approach by Alkire & Foster (2011) to generate multidimensional poverty profiles of children. The weightings of the dimensions were generated by multiple correspondence analysis. The GLM and Logit models were used to identify the driving factors of child deprivation. Findings indicate that 54 percent of children were multidimensionally poor when the poverty line k = 1 against 32 percent of poor children when k = 3.  Nutrition and sanitation dimensions had the highest relative contributions of 41.12 and 28.77 percent respectively to the global multidimensional poverty index. JEL Classification:  D63, I32, O10

This research used a descriptive approach. The research was conducted through FGD and market surveys. The observed variable was the perception of cleaning service in terms of the interests, activities, behavior, needs and desires of consumers. The result of the research shows that the approach of restarting the business is looking at a business venture as a startup. The business branding of the new venture is in a disadvantaged position compared to its competitors because it has just opened; therefore marketing strategy is to build and enhance business branding by communicating information about business services to potential customers through social media, key persons, and word of mouth. It is expected to be able to communicate the service features and a variety of information about service, price and discount, location, and other profiles of new ventures. Abstract

The area size of sugarcane planting nationally shows a decrease. This is also marked by a decrease in the interest of farmers planting sugarcane and low loyalty to the sugar factory. In 2014, the government established a sugarcane management regrouping program. The regrouping program provides benefits for the efficiency of sugarcane planting, more effective in cutting and transport processes, forging farmer group and sugar factory, and increasing farmers' loyalty to the sugar factory.  The weakness of the regrouping program is that it emphasizes technical aspects only. The criterion of the social aspect is essential because this always saves problems related to communication networks and establishing cooperation. Through the clique strategy, this can conduct a communication network analysis in regrouping. Regrouping programs can build social interaction and communication networks. The form and level of communication network structure in the regrouping program can place actors or farmers build communication networks and cooperate in sugarcane farming. Understanding the role of cooperation networks between farmers or groups determines the success of regrouping sugarcane.JEL Classification:  P32, O35, Q18

Abstract

The research aims to describe Qardhul Hasan financing and recognize the problems faced in micro businesses in the city of Malang. The study was conducted on two research objects. The first study was on a used motorcycle dealer business that received Qardhul Hasan during the 2016-2018 period. The second study in 2019, was the implementation of Qardhul Hasan in small-scale creative economy traders, whose source of funding came from 2.5 percent of profits from used motorcycle dealers. The results showed that the implementation of Qardhul Hasan financing was quite profitable. Qardhul Hasan who is allocated to the creative economy group indicates a feeling of happiness and calm because loan repayments are not burdened with costs, besides having flexibility from the time of repayment. Economic actors managed to collect savings from repaying loan installments. Qardhul Hasan funding received a reasonably good response from economic actors. Qardhul Hasan loan recipients should be able to maintain trust and uphold the agreements that have been built. This study has implications for the development of Qardhul Hasan, namely strengthening the concept of Qardhul Hasan as loan financing, and strengthening groups for small businesses to run the Qardhul Hasan management mechanism JEL Classification:  D14, Q21, G51
