Abstract

The COVID-19 Pandemic has led to the emergence of restrictive polices that have an impact not only on the physical aspect but also on the psychological impact of athletes. This study aims to examine the mental health conditions of Central Java athletes. The research method used is descriptive qualitative which is conducted on 20 athletes in Central Java. The sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling technique. This research is conducted in five stages, namely the preparation of definitions, observation-interview guidelines, data collection, data analysis, and data interpretation. Methods of data collection using observation and interview techniques. The collected data is then analyzed through data verification, coding, tabulation, and presentation. The results of this study indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on aspects of activity related to sport activities, aspects of mental condition, and aspects of financial well being of athletes. In the aspect of mental state, the athletes showed some negative emotion such as boredom, disapppoitment, and confusion. The emergence of these negative emotions resulted in decreased concentration and decreased motivation of the athletes in training. Mental problem that do not get psychological treatment are feared to be the cause of the emergence of disorders more severe mental health in athletes. The results of this study can be used as recommendations for coaches and the government in developing programs to improve athlete achievement through physical and mental strengthening. Suggestions for further research are the need to develop an instrument for measuring athletes' mental health and analyzing mental health factors in athletes during a pandemic.

Abstract

Passing in volleyball is highly significant to support the game. Good passing will determine the course of attack and defense in the game. This research aims at creating volleyball passing models to improve students’ passing skills. It uses the method of ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). The analysis stage is to identify the source of the cause of the performance gap. The design stage is, verifying the desired performance, and the appropriate test method. The develop stage, namely, conducting, and validating learning resources. The implementation stage is preparing a learning environment and involving participants. The evaluate stage, namely, assessing the quality of learning processes, and products, both before and after implementation. Participants in this study are elementary school students who are in the fifth grade, as many as 64 people. The instrument used in this study is a test of passing up and passing down volleyball. This research found: (1). Based on the analysis carried out, passing is a crucial skill in volleyball games, however, students still experience various obstacles in their learning and motor skills. (2). The design stage is to inventory the tasks that students will do related to volleyball learning. (3). The develop stage has produced 13 games of volleyball passing model content which were validated by experts, and the proper media was chosen to help learning volleyball passing. (4). At this stage, the passing model is applied to the participants. (5). The evaluation results show significant results from the volleyball passing model through a game-based approach to volleyball passing skills. Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the influence of providing mini game situation and full game session training methods at the level of youth players' futsal playing skills. This is experimental study with 30 youth futsal athletes of Banyumas Regency (Age= M 16.2 ± SD 0.761), divided into two experimental groups design. Futsal skill instruments are used to analyze the mastery of an athlete's technique as measured by the speed of time in completing a task. The variables analyzed relate to the main techniques in the game of futsal: passing, controlling, dribbling, and shooting. In this regard, the results showed that the value obtained from the mini game situation exercise is higher than the full game session and a significant difference is found in the results of both exercises (M ± 47.00; p = 0.012), while the value of the influence of full game session (M ± 49.00 ; p = 0.003). It is seen that more complex practice patterns will improve the player's skills progressively. Overall, these findings suggest that coaches need to take into account the effective use of exercise to support the improvement of futsal skills in adolescent athletes.

Abstract

Partnerships with companies or sponsorships cannot be separated in the implementation of sporting events; even sponsorship is a significant investment given by companies in the sports industry. However, every company has considerations before sponsoring a sporting event, one of the influencing factors is the attitude of the organizing committee to the company that is a potential sponsor. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the importance of the committee's attitude toward the company's decision to sponsor a sporting event. By using quantitative descriptive research and survey methods, this study collected data from 33 companies that met the criteria of having sponsored a sporting event and were willing to participate in the study by completing a willingness sheet. The data is taken from a questionnaire filled out by the Company Owner or the company's Marketing Department by first answering questions about the duration of work in the company. Then, respondents responded to statements that came from four indicators, namely the relationship between the committee and the company, the company's interest in the committee, the committee provided a sense of comfort for the company in working together, and the company felt benefited from working together, with the answer strongly agree, agree, disagree, and strongly disagree. After that, the data was analyzed using excel and shown in graph on percentages to explain that the indicator of comfort in working together plays the highest role with a total of 42.42% strongly agree and 48.48% agree. Indirectly, this facet provides information to future sports organizers to assist them in obtaining funding for sports events through a win-win situation or mutualistic relationship.

Abstract

Health literacy is an important determinant of health outcomes due to its close relation to an individual’s health status and well-being. The purpose of this study is to measure the level of health literacy in university students as well as analyze its relationship with socio-demographic factors and health-related behaviors. A total of 163 university students participated in this study via online-based questionnaires that assessed socio-demographic factors, health-related behavior, physical activity, and health literacy using well-validated instruments. An independent t-test and ANOVA were performed to explore any statistical significance and mean differences in health literacy score. The results discovered no significant differences in demographic characteristics on health literacy scores. However, female respondents, majoring in sport and living in urban areas with parents having higher education degrees, had a slightly higher score than their counterparts. A significant difference in scores was observed in the smoking variable (p = 0.007). Therefore, health literacy in university students is not influenced by demographic characteristics. However, this study showed that higher health literacy scores contribute to better practice of health-related behavior, especially smoking.

Abstract

The problem of overnutrition and obesity tend to increase year by. Office employee are susceptible to physical inactivity and obesity. In context of current pandemic, exercising via online media, termed ‘tele-exercise’ may be an effective alternative intervention. However, the effect of compliance and timing of exercise on overall health-related output are still not often discussed. The purpose of the study is to compare the effect of tele-exercise done during working hours vs. after working hours on obese office employee’s weight loss and improvement of body fat percentage, as well as their relation to compliance level. The design of this study is quasi-experimental design, with obese office employee as participants, which then grouped into after work exercise (AW, n = 36, 1-hour duration) and mid-work exercise (DW, n = 21, 30-minute duration). Total sampling was used since the target population were under 100 people. Exercises were done 3 times/week for 12 weeks. Data collected were sample characteristics, bodyweight, and percentage of body fat. Both timing of intervention is effective on reducing body weight significantly (p<0.05). Significant reduction (p<0.05) on percentage of body fat is only occurring in DW group. Compliance level for AW and DW group are 63.75% and 61.23%, respectively, and being insignificant to each other (p>0.05). The contribution of compliance in shorter exercise/DW on body fat loss and weight loss is 23.1% and 20.9%, respectively; while the contribution of compliance in longer exercise/AW is 11.3% on body weight loss. A short, mid-working exercise have the similar or even better effect than 1-hour after-work exercise session on weight loss and body fat loss. We recommend tele-exercising during working hours for at least 30 minutes to achieve significant body weight and body fat loss.
