Abstract

17 August University of Surabaya is the oldest private university in Surabaya . established by thefoundation universities August 17, 1945 Surabaya abbreviated YPTA . Consists of structural foundationsas the founder of the foundation and structural University of the implementing agency in the activitiesthat occurred at the University . As one of the university in charge of public relations function inproviding information and related publications UNTAG Surabaya . PR has just launched a new iconUNTAG Surabaya as a tool related publications UNTAG Surabaya . This icon was made in order to helpthe public relations work . Effective communication can help increase public relations job in conveyingall kinds of relevant information on public UNTAG Surabaya either Internal or External . Formulation ofthe problem in this research is " How can the effectiveness of the introduction of new icons UNTAGSurabaya in Surabaya Students and Lecturers UNTAG?" . This study used quantitative descriptivemethod by distributing questionnaires to a sample withdrawal . Sample in this study is the Student andLecturer UNTAG Surabaya . Abstract

Freedom of speech is a right of every individual to the community to express their opinions either incriticism, suggestion/comment, or opinion through various ways whether oral or in writing, directly orindirectly by utilizing social media, such as facebook, twitter, etc. However, sometimes peoples out ofcontrol using their freedom of rights, so there are others who feel offended and aggrieved. Such eventsare already common, and should end up in prison. Based from this incident, researchers wanted to knowwhether freedom of speech through facebook and twitter being limited to the existence of the law ofinformation and electronic transaction (UU ITE). This research uses narrative qualitative researchdesign, which this research aimed to describe and analyze phenomena, events, social activities, attitudes,perceptions, and thought of someone about freedom of speech through facebook and twitter being limitedby the existence of the law of the information and electronic transactions (UU ITE) are presented innarrative form. From the results of this research revealed that a person’s freedom of speech throughsocial media (facebook and twitter) is not to be limit, thus they feel comfortable because of their privacyrights are protected. In this law provides legal protection to every user virtual world of criminals whoexploit information technology, computer, and internet networks.Keywords: freedom of speech, social media, facebook, twitter, UU ITE

Abstract

This study aimed to know and observe what is the motivation of women at doing treatment for beautyat the Dina’s Acupuncture Clinics & Beauty Care in Surabaya. This study is a qualitative and descriptivestudy using interview techniques as a source and data analysis techniques. The interview used informantas data source for the as many as 2 speakers from the clinic manager and three of clinic’s consumer atDina’s Acupuncture Clinics & Beauty Care in Surabaya. The results showed that women do treatmentsfor beauty in order to maintain their body and face healthy. The women also do treatments for beautybecause the motivation to change the shape to take some ideal forms. In general, women do treatmentsfor beauty because they want to achieve beauty and fitness in a career appearance and environment.Keywords: women, motivation, clinics, care, beauty

Abstract

This research is motivated by social media election conducted by current students. Globalization isgrowing rapidly and sophisticated technology becomes a factor flourishing of social media. Account orownership of social media has become commonplace owned for communication activities. Social media isa medium for interaction that can facilitate in establishing communication between students who are insix faculties. Motivation is used in the selection of social media namely Motivation Diversion(Entertainment), Motivation Personal Identity (Fostering Social Affairs), and Motivation Cognitive(Knowledge). The method used in this study is a survey method is a method of research usingquestionnaires with Guttman scale as a data collection instrument. While this kind of research isdescriptive quantitative research. This study uses a model that considers the Uses and Gratificationactive audiences use media to meet their needs. Abstract

This research based on tourism which has become an important asset for Kabupaten Bangkalanand needed to be informed to the people. The ministry of Youth, Sport, Culture and TourismKabupaten Bangkalan is a government institution which work on tourism and the job is to promote theexisting tourism. This research is aiming to describe Marketing Communication which has been doneby The ministry of Youth, Sport, Culture and Tourism Kabupaten Bangkalan on increasing the touristvisit. The focuses in this research are Siring Kemuning Beach, Guweh Pote Jaddih Hills andSwimming pool, And Pesarean Syaikhona Kholil. The teory used in this research is IntegratedCommunication Marketing (IMC). The research method which is used in this research is Qualitativewith desciptive type. The result from the research found that Marketing Communication activity byThe ministry of Youth, Sport, Culture and Tourism Kabupaten Bangkalan on increasing the touristvisit used Integrated Marketing Communication such as Advertising, Direct Marketing, InteractiveMarketing, Sales Promotion, Publicity or Public Relations, Personal sales, Events and Experiences,Person to Person, but in reality The ministry of Youth, Sport, Culture and Tourism KabupatenBangkalan has not been maximizing the elements of Integrated Marketing Communication that canincrease the numbers of tourists visit. The researcher also found that tourism object Guweh PoteJaddih Hills and Swimming pool have not under the controll of The ministry of Youth, Sport, Cultureand Tourism Kabupaten Bangkalan and still in private or individual claim, this is so unfortunatebecause this tourism object attaracts many tourists visit.Keywords : communication marketing tourism, increase, tourism visit.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive research that aims to describe the use ofinstagram as a means of self-existence. The object of this research is among teenagers ofSMA Muhammadiyah 7 Surabaya students. In this study, the theory used is the theory ofDramaturgy which is the work of Erving Goffman and supported also with Self-Actualization Theory of Abraham Maslow.The results showed that all informants used inthis study revealed that they often upload photos in social network instagram just to try topresent themselves as possible, in order to achieve the desired goal This is one form ofexistence in using social media. Several informants also revealed that Instagram is amedium that is considered to improve the existence of its users with various featuresowned so that Instagram users trying to show themselves the best to get the desired selfimage.Keywords: Instagram, self-existence, adolescence, dramaturgy, self-actualization maslow

Abstract

This research entitled patterns of Interpersonal Communications Students with Gay sexualorientation (a case study of Interpersonal Communication in daily interactions of Gay Students). Thepurpose of this research is to know the symbols (Non Verbal Communication) and to know the symbollanguage (Verbal communication) used in the gay student interact with her environment(homosexuals and Heterosexuals) as well as how communication affects the gay student identificationin social environment in berinterak. that verbal and non verbal communication students in her socialenvironment is not gay so real in the world of hetroseksual. Gay covered many of which straddledifferent from gay open is more conspicuous, even so homosexuals could identify one another fromthe gaze of the eyes, body language, looks, and fragrances are used in excess, as well as languageand speech they use, but communication also happens to homosexuals in the virtual world bydemonstrating the full form of interaction and language use homosexual in shows themselves freelyon social media. In his intercourse the formation of gay student identification of its communication isthe creation of new languages to keep eksistentsinya and although most shut down, homosexuals havealways had a natural trait with hand gestures that are curved, and talk with supple lip movements thatare a little bit like a woman.Key words: Interpersonal Communication Patterns, Gay Students in daily interactions.

Abstract

The Voice Indonesia is one in the million of reality show programs in RCTI. Thisprogram succesed catching attention of many people and get a high rating in everyepisode. And, there is a participants who can catch so many attention from viewers, she isnamed Vanessa Axelia, she is 19 years old and came from Surabaya Started from thiscase, finally makes me as a researcher want to know the influence of personal brandingby Vanessa Axelia through The Voice RCTI episodes to tenenager’s imitation inSurabaya. This descriptive research is using a quantitative method. The evaluation fromthis research is personal branding of 66,8% influence on teenager’s imitation attitude inSurabaya. Like a personal branding theory by Peter Montoya who said there are 3 mostimportant things to building personal branding. There are competency, style andstandard. Abstract

The development of information is currently very rapid with the internet. Mass media such asnewspapers have now done a lot of rebranding to online media or websites. Just like what has beendone by jawapos newspaper which now has an online newspaper or commonly called with onlinemedia. In jawapos there is a zetizen rubric that used to be called detection. Zetizen discusses youngpeople one of them contained romance articles. This study chose the romance article because it is oneof the articles favored by teenagers today. The formulation of the problem of this research is how theconcept of romance in the articles displayed on the website zetizen.com? This study aims to find theconcept of romance and describe the message content of the romance article on zetizen.com. Themethod used to reveal it is by content analysis, that is using an approach with framing analysis. Theresults showed that the concept of romance that carried by zetizen that is in the form of new thingsthat are popular among teenagers. Abstract

The problem in this research is about semiotic analysis on the use of kebaya dress in thetraditional ceremony of ruwatan village Jati Sumber District Trowulan, Mojokerto regency. Theruwatan traditional ceremony in the village of Jati Sumber is a ceremony of grateful expression of thecitizens who oblige to wear kebaya clothes, especially for women. This research uses Charles SanderPierce's semiotic theory to analyze the icon, index and symbol of the object under study. This researchuses qualitative approach (descriptive).. The meaning of this study shows that every element containedin the use of kebaya fashion in traditional ceremony ruwatan Jati Sumber village has the meaning ofsanctity for white kebaya and the meaning of eternal happiness for kebaya black. The conclusion ofthis research is the use of kebaya dress at ruwatan ceremony Jati Sumber is a form of nonverbalcommunication delivery. Simultaneously also implements the meaning and symbols of Javanesewomen's self-disclosure in maintaining the identity of Indonesian women, especially Javanese women.Namely as a form of cultural preservation of the use of kebaya clothes for traditions that have beenpassed down generations from generation to generation by the previous community to thedevelopment of modern society today.Keywords: Communication, Fashion Kebaya, ruwatan ceremony, Semiotics, Meaning
