Abstract

This research is a mixed method research with concurrent embedded strategy. The aim of the research is to find out the students’ habit of mind who learn with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is better than the conventional learning. The population of the research is the mathematical education students of FKIP of Banten Mathla’ul Anwar University (Unma). The sample of the research is two classes in semester IV. The instruments in this research area essay, questionnaires and observation sheet of students’ and lecturers activities. The data are analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively that obtained from the pretest and posttest. The results show that there is no significant difference between the students’ habit of mind who learnt with the problem-based learning (PBL) and the conventional learning.

Abstract

This study discusses about mathematical problem solving ability of sudents of SMA Negeri 1 Wundulako, Souteast Sulawesi province. Discussion is done by descriptive and inferential analysis to reveal mathematical problem solving ability of sudents after being taught by cooperative learning model. Results of statistical analysis of the data concluded that the mathematical problem solving ability of students of SMAN 1 Wundulako based on three aspects classified in a good category, but these three aspects have different average. From those three aspects, the average of students are low at problem solving aspect namely choosing and applying strategy to solve model or mathematical problem and out of mathematical problem. However, the learning spirit of students is incrieasing enough when taught with cooperative learning model, of Jigsaw and TSTS types. This condition causes average of mathematical problem solving ability of students which taught with cooperative learning model, Jigsaw type is better than TSTS type or STAD. While inferentially concluded that there is an interaction between cooperative learning model and character behavior of the mathematical problem solving ability.

Abstract

The influence of interest and emotional Intelligence on mathematical learning achievement of grade VIII student of SMP Negeri 1 Latambaga can be concluded that: (1) The interest of grade VIII student of SMP Negeri 1 Latambaga is moderate, there are 31 students or 64,58% with the lowest score is 55, the higest score is 87 and the average is 71,90. (2) the emotional intelligence of grade VIII student of SMP Negeri 1 Latambaga is moderate. There are 15 students or 31,25% with the lowest score is 57, the lowest score is 95, and the average is 76,90. (3) the mathematical learning achievement of grade VIII student of SMP Negeri 1 Latambaga is moderate. There are 16 students or 33,33%, the lowest score is 75, the highest score is 88, and the average is 81,46. (4) there is not significant positive influence between interest and emotional intellegence of student towards mathematical learning achievement of grade VIII student of SMP Negeri 1 Latambaga. Where the test of hypothes is testing results indicate that thitung = 1,98 > ttabel =3,195 at significance level α = 0,05.

Abstract

This study presents about research results using quantitative descriptive approach and experiment research mothod with pre-experimental design: the one-shot case study design conducted at semester VI student in 2014-2015 academic years at real analysis course. The purpose ofthis study is to describe the data on the ability of the student mathematical proofs using inductive-deductive approach, get a picture of the problems faced by students and examine the interventions required students to overcome the problems encountered in doing mathematical proofs. Based on the analysis data gained research results shows that: 1) at trust level 95%, there is not enought proofs to state that mathematical proofs ability of student using inductive-deductive approach at real analysis course is over 81% of assigned ideal criteria; 2) the problems faced by student in doing mathematical proofs namely problems in reading and understanding of mathematical proofs, showing correctness proof of a statement mathematically, doing proofs directly and indirectly or with mathematical induction and developing mathematical arguments to prove or decline a statement. And 3) the interventions need to be given to student overcoming the problems, namely by giving reinforcement towards material mastery of prerequisite, doing conditioning through drill, practice, and exercise, giving scaffolding with deductively proofs instruction by stating definition or theorem to conduct mathematical proofs.

Abstract

The need for a new orientation in education is so strong and evident invarious aspects and fields of study. Educators and educational practitioners already should have toand are able to respond to changes that occur with the changing paradigm of education. Implementation of lesson study learning taught by lecturers of PPKN study program of Cokroaminoto Palopo unversity at student development course. Involving semester 1 students amounted to 42, Male is 18 persons, female is 24 persons. Learning process is scheduled by lecturer team of PPKN study program in November for four meetings. The first and second meetings using contextual approach combined cooperative model, meeting/cycle 3-4 using constructivism approach combined cooperative model. The result of model presenting lecturer activity shows the increasing student activity both in team-work and critically thinking way. Besides improving the quality of learning, attracting and retaining the creativity of the student, paying attention and preparing presentation of teaching aids or other supporting media.

Abstract

This research aims to test empirically optimistics thinking training to improve adolescent self-esteem in the orphanage. The hypothesis is optimistics thinking training can improve adolescent self-esteem in the orphanage. The development of thinking about identity and uniqueness is a problem in the life of a teenager, one of which is associated with adolescent self-esteem. The problem that appears to be further improved, when the rate of low adolescent self-esteemas sociated with school or family migration process which is difficult and events that make teenagers depressed. Survey shows 46% of teenagers in the orphanage led to the characteristics of low self-esteem. They consider them selves do not have the establishment, be asource of problems forthe environment, estranged from the family, and to give up easily and have problems to express negative emotions. This research method uses experiment with pretest-postest control group design. Based on the results of Wilcoxon testing for pretest and posttest of experiment group gained score Z = -2,807 significance = 0,0025; p < 0,01. The conclusion of the research shows that optimistics thinking training is very efective to increase adolescent self-esteem in the orphanage.

Abstract

The influence of modernity has mostly impact on lost of local cultural values, then the understanding mathematical concept at elementary student is decreasing, because of means limited, teacher who is lazy to write the ideas in lesson plan, and teacher’s job which is hard. The aim of this public service is to socialize etnomatematics through traditional game engklek modified its rule as inovation of mathematical learning stratgey. The location of public service conducted in SD/MI, Telukan subdistrict followed by 22 teacher delegation. The procedure of program by giving guidelines of etnomathematics definition, engklek game system, etnomathematics based engklek implementation, and ended by evaluation, namely teacher simulation using theme of curriculum 2013.

Abstract

This study describes the analysis of vocabulary test given to the students seen from the difficulty level (ID) and discriminating power (DP) point of view and also from reliability and validity judgment. This vocabulary test was conducted at SDN Puseurjaya, an elementary school located at Karawang, from January 30th 2012 through February 1st 2012. After doing the analysis on the items, it was found that the test of vocabulary given to the second grade of SDN Puseurjaya students meets almost all requirements to be the acceptable test items. However, as it does not reach validity, the writer then needs to check and review in depth to make some improvements for the next test construction.

Abstract

Tujuan artikel ini adalah mengkaji dan memaparkan profil pemimpin pendidikan masa depan islami yang mampu menghadapi masalah kompleks. Hasil kajian menjelaskan bahwa profil pemimpin tersebut adalah yang memiliki kemampuan: 1) Pemimpin yang kuat keyakinannya secara spiritual dan religi, mengenai nilai-nilai kehidupan positif yang dianut, dan dipercayainya atau dengan kata lain yang beriman dan bertakwa serta beramal sholeh dengan berpegang pada kehendak Tuhan Yang Maha Rahim; 2) Pemimpin yang kuat jiwanya, sehingga mampu merealisasikan kebijaksanaan dan cinta kasih dalam kehidupan ini. Hal ini dapat dinyatakan pula bahwa pemimpin harus memiliki jiwa yang kuat dan sehat secara mental, fisik dan rohani, dan memiliki kearifan, kebijakan dan keluhuran budi; 3) Pemimpin yang kuat secara psikologi sehingga telah mempersiapkan dirinya untuk menjadi pemimpin, dalam hal ini kebutuhan dasar sebagai individu manusia telah terpenuhi, sehingga tujuan sebagai pemimpin adalah mengaktualisasikan dirinya dan membalas budi pada kehidupan ini dari apa yang diberikan oleh kehidupan padanya. Dengan kata lain memiliki fisik yang sehat dan kuat; 4) Pemimpin yang kuat dalam bermasyarakat, sehingga dapat menjaga keseimbangan interaksi yang timbul dari berbagai hubungan dalam masyarakat yang rawan akan berbagai konflik. Tentunya ini memerlukan kemampuan membina dan membangun hubungan baik antar pribadi dengan pribadi, pribadi dengan kelompok maupun kelompok dengan kelompok.

Abstract

Mutu pendidikan dapat ditingkatkan melalui salah satu alternatif pemanfaatan model pembelajaran dengan melakukan penelitian tindakan kelas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran kimia pokok bahasan reaksi redoks dan elektrokimia dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) yang berorientasi Chemoentrepreneurship (CEP) menggunakan praktikum aplikatif berbasis kecakapan hidup. Hasil analisis data yang diperoleh setelah dilakukan tindakan pada kelas XII IPA 1 SMA Negeri 11 Pandeglang adalah sebagai berikut; rata-rata hasil belajar siklus I adalah 56,00 pada siklus II 67,74 dan siklus III adalah 77,66 dengan prosentase ketuntasan pada siklus I yaitu 8,57% (3 dari 35 siswa) telah tuntas, siklus II yaitu 57,14% (20 dari 35 siswa) telah tuntas dan siklus III yaitu 91,14% (32 dari 35 siswa telah tuntas). Tingkat keaktifan siswa dalam kegiatan praktikum siklus I sebesar 43,45% , pada siklus II sebesar 66,67% sedangkan pada siklus III sebesar 83,33%. Hal ini dapat diartikan melalui pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD yang berorientasi CEP menggunakan praktikum aplikatif berbasis life skill pada pelajaran kimia materi reaksi redoks dan elektrokimia dapat meningkatkan hasil dan motivasi belajar kimia, dimana siswa memiliki life skill sebagai modal dasar untuk berwirausaha dalam bidang kimia (Chemoentrepreneurship), suatu upaya antisipasi jika siswa tidak dapat melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi.
