Abstract

As e-commerce has been considered a part of lifestyle, this reserach aims to prove whether the use of information technology influences or enriches the foundation of business. The research used a simple linear regression statistical method with a sample taken from Lazada Indonesia's online business consumers. If it were proven, the variables that represent the quality of the use of information technology would affect the variable of e-customer satisfaction. The result was in fact not proven. The variable of e-customer satisfaction was statistically affected by variables that represent the foundation of business only, namely security and fairness in transactions. Thus the use of information technology in e-commerce does not affect the foundation of business. The result suggests that the right online business strategy is a strategy that focuses on increasing the perceived  security and fairness in transactions through the development of features in the use of online technology.

Abstract

Cooperative capital for the period 2010-2016 shows the trend of increasing security of creditors and cooperative financiers or investors, but there is a vulnerability to own capital as an effect of fluctuations in the number of members and members' financial contributions that have an impact on cooperative capital unstable. However, even though self-capital in the form of deposits (principal and mandatory) becomes a point of unstable capital of the cooperative, but to replace it with 'shares (share)' as the norm of cooperative capital used by cooperatives in various countries, it is not something that can accepted by cooperative communities in Indonesia today. Socio-economic considerations, cooperative culture and perspectives on deposits are crucial but the use of 'stocks or share’ is not suitable. Disclosure of latent issues in cooperative finance raises solutions regarding nomenclature and cooperative funding features.

Abstract

This research provides insights on factors affecting performance of family firms in comparison with the non-family firms making use of data from Cameroon. We estimated total factor productivity via a Cobb–Douglas production function while accounting for the correlation between input levels and productivity. As concerns the management and control of firms, family members are heavily involved in family firms than those of non-family firms which are mostly managed externally. It is observed that non family firms employ more labour and invests more in capital compared to family owned and managed firms. Based on the two-staged least-squares technique, results show that family firms and even those managed by families are, on average less productive than externally managed family firms and non-family owned firms after controlling for sector as well as other characteristics.  The findings are important for both policy makers and practitioners.
