Abstract

The Urban Forest of HM Sabki has great potential as a tourist destination, not only as a recreation area but also as a center for research and plant conservation. For this reason, the Urban Forest of HM Sabki is expected to be able to provide adequate information about its plants. This community service program creates a plant inventory information system and QR code as a marker of plants that can be scanned using a smartphone. This technology enables visitors to access detailed information about plants. QR code is a printed 2-dimensional image code that can store data. This technology can display information about plants that have been previously entered by the manager into the plant inventory information system. Through this application, the Urban Forest management can easily manage all information about plants.

Abstract

Plastics are the synthesis of polymerization of different types of monomers. Almost all kinds of plastic will drift or float inside the water body. It will cause the plastic to be torn apart and damaged by the sunlight, oxidation and abrasion of mechanically forming plastic particles. Ecobrick is one way of handling plastic waste by packing clean and dry plastic into plastic bottles. Community empowerment to process plastic waste into something useful in the long term is one of the keys to the success of the plastic waste recycling program. This activity will provide benefits for community service participants, members who implement counselling, higher education and government. The target audience in these community service activities is the village community Bunga Raya, Siak regency. Results of public service activities that have been implemented by the community have been able to make seats from Ecobrick. In society, it is expected not only to make seats from Ecobrick but also to create other creations. So it can be used as a new business opportunity for the target community.

Abstract

The notion of local media was proposed in Broadcasting Law number 32/2002 to support the democratic process, political decentralization and to revive the local-scale media industry. In addition, local media are also expected to be a source of relevant information for residents and the community. However, various challenges and obstacles in terms of business as well as in terms of policy continue to emerge. This community service has been carried out to journalists and local media practitioners in West Java to disseminate the results of research conducted by the team from Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Padjadjaran on media policy and the sustainability of local media in Indonesia. In addition to disseminating research results and local media advocacy, we also conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on various issues surrounding the local media industry, and also to elaborate on the possible partnership between the academics and local media practitioners to maintain the sustainability of the local media industry in West Java. In the future, it is hoped that research collaboration and various other activities can be done consistently and long-term in nature.

Abstract

Waste becomes a crucial problem in coastal areas because of the habit of people who throw garbage directly into the sea. This community service aims to manage waste by empowering assets owned by the community. This activity is carried out in 2 stages, namely the preparation and implementation stages. The preparation phase is carried out by inventorying assets owned by the community, conducting socialization, preparing materials and materials needed for waste management training. The identified assets owned by the community consist of physical assets, human assets, social assets, financial assets, and natural assets. The results of the activity showed that the participants who were present did not reach the target due to the sea fishing activities carried out by residents. Participants who took part in the waste management activities were quite enthusiastic in participating in the material and simulation. It is expected that participants who follow the training can process their garbage and motivate other residents to handle their waste.

Abstract

The Indonesian government continues to strive to implement the health promoting school program nationwidely. Yet the disparity in its implementation is still high. Most schools in remote areas have not been able to implement it. Such as Sekolah Dasar Negeri 08 Berinang Mayun and Sekolah Dasar Negeri 02 Sidan which are located in the middle of palm oil plantations in Landak, West Kalimantan. Students of and communities around the two schools are Dayak people whose health quality are still poor. Based on that, we conducted a health-promoting school workshop at the two schools. The workshop was carried through lectures, focus group discussions, and simulations. In the end, the participants were required to produce a health promoting school plan as an outcome. A number of indicators such as KWL analysis, participants’ feedback and pre-post test analysis showed that there is an increase in the knowledge and skills of participants regarding the health promoting school program. But the most obvious achievement is that participants have designed a health-promoting school plan that they will carry out in their respective schools.
