Abstract

Sleman district has the high-risk potential of the natural disaster. Disaster risk has positive correlate to potential trauma risk, especially on children. Trauma will be rise direct after a disaster or delay or called posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Parents are the most influential party to the child's development, so parents in disaster-prone areas must have the skills to deal with a traumatized child. The handling of trauma given to victims of natural disasters in Sleman Regency is only based on direct handling post-disaster. There is no advisory service for parents in dealing with traumatized children. Training needs to be given to parents, especially residents in locations that have a high potential for natural disasters. The training aims to provide readiness for parents to accompany traumatized children so that the impact of the trauma does not get worse. Based on the results of the application, it is proven that parents can perform parenting skills to assist traumatized children.

Abstract

Reading literacy competence is an educational problem that requires special attention and needs continuously improved. Reading literacy should begin earliest in the family environment. After entering the school, teachers need to work together with parents to raise a reading culture. Public of Elementary School (SDN) Pulau Kelapa 01 Pagi has not involved parents yet before in encouraging students to read. Therefore, the purposes of this activity are to educate parents about the importance of reading literacy and evaluating the Literacy Project assigned to parents. This community service activity uses the method to educate parents with tutorials, discussion, and experience sharing techniques. After opening the mindset and giving the knowledge about literacy reading, participants, namely the parents of 29 fourth grade students, were given a Literacy Project assignment for a week. This activity has increased the attention of parents about the importance of reading and fostering reading through the family environment. However, in fact, in the implementation of the Literacy Project, parents have not yet fully carried out. Parents still need to implement reading habits at home. In this case, the school needs to collaborate with parents in creating a pleasant literacy atmosphere through various literacy activities in a sustainable manner. Universities can help realize these programs.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge of parents in educating children in the digital era. It is important to be done so that parents can respond to technological developments and adjust parenting for children, so technology which is essentially created for the ease and goodness of human life, will not give negative affect children and adolescents. Therefore, parents need to have adequate information and knowledge. Through this activity, we convey a variety of materials on how to educate children in the digital age with the hope that young children will be able to socialize, empathize, speak well, and be healthy, both physically and spiritually. The activities are divided into two parts, socialization, and training, while the participants of this activity are mothers in Koto Gasib District Siak Regency, which has young children. From the implementation of this community service, it can be concluded. There was an improvement in parent’s knowledge. Pretest results were 47.61% and increased to 76.90% on posttest. This indicates that the community service activity went well and effectively.

Abstract

In the face of industrial development in the industrial revolution era 4.0, the need for reliable preparation of Human Resources, so that no less competitive with the rapid growth of information and technology. Community service activities are carried out with themes by the latest developments in the industrial world aimed at the pre-employment community as participants to have theoretical and applicable knowledge, insights and expertise in the banking sector. The method of this activity is in the form of training with a mini bank simulation and the practice of counting money using 3 fingers. Participants are given knowledge in the world of banking and are guided to practice some basic skills that must be possessed by a banker. This activity involves academics and practitioners in the field of banking. From the results of the training provided, the achievement of the objectives of service activities can be seen from the understanding of participants in explaining some of the terms of funds, credit, other bank services and bank work systems as well as the ability of participants to simulate work at the bank. With this knowledge and expertise, it is expected to create human resources who are ready to work in banking and reduce the unemployment rate.

Abstract

Traditional music is an expression of hereditary culture that is owned by certain ethnic groups. The young Dayak Bahau generation is committed to preserving traditional music even though they have experienced modern life and live in big cities. However, conservation efforts are always carried out in monotonous ways, resulting in various obstacles that are beyond the control of this ethnic group. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out empowerment activities so that the maintenance and preservation of traditional music can be sustainable. An understanding of the dangers of traditional music extinction is needed, the factors causing extinction and maintenance strategies. This service provides training to the young Dayak Bahau generation in exploring challenges and opportunities for the sustainability of traditional music. Assistance is also carried out in revitalizing traditional arts that are threatened with extinction. This knowledge and skills make traditional music more preserved with an approach that emphasizes the decisions of traditional music owners.

Abstract

Indonesia is significantly intensifying the international-trade agreement with several strategic trade partners. Some said that the agreement would lead to the increasing flow of imported goods to Indonesia. Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Center Jakarta indeed aimed at empowering Indonesian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to enjoy the benefits of more open export opportunities. Through coaching clinic and personal consultation method, the SMEs acquire knowledge on available export opportunities and training to improve the skills that suitable to their needs. Within a year of the empowerment program, around 100 SMEs have been reaching positive achievements that increase their confidences in penetrating export market or expanding their export activities.
