Abstract

ABSTRACT                 The purpose of this study is to find out the active learning application based on project assignment in improving science learning results of students in VII B class of SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga and to find out the improvement of the science learning results of students in VII B class of SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga throuh applying the active learning based on the project assignment. This study was done in SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga by using 21 students in this school as the subjects. The method applied in this study is the descriptive analysis method with the data collection instruments such as questionnaires, pbservation sheets and interview. The results of this study show that the active learning model based on the project assignment could improve students’ cognitive, psychomotor and affective learning results. Based on the students’ cognitive learning results, the students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria (KKM) in cycle 1 is 66.67% and it improves into 90.47% in cycle 2. Based on the students’ psychomotor learning results, the students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria (KKM) with a good criterion (≥ 25) in cycle 1 is 76.19% and it improves into 100% in cycle 2. Based on the students’ affective learning results, the students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria (KKM) with a good criterion (≥ 25) in cycle 1 is 80.95% and it improves into 100% in cycle 2.Keywords : Active Learning Based on Project Assignment, Learning Results

Abstract

This study is a type of an action class study. The purpose of this researches are used to apply the discovery learning model and smart case strategy in order to improve students’ cognitive learning results and to find out the improvement of students’ affective and psychomotor learning results by applying the discovery learning model and smart case strategy.  There were 21 students in VII C Class of SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga used as the samples. The instrument of this research is observation sheets, questionnaires and tests. The descriptive analysis was employed in this study. The results of the cognitive learning result in cycle one show that the students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria (KKM) of 75 is 57,14% and in cycle two it improves into 100%. The students’ psychomotor minimum criteria with a good minimum score (≥ 20) in cycle one reaches 90,47% and in cycle two it improves into 100%. The students’ percentage fulfilling the minimum criteria with a good minimum score (≥ 16) in cycle one is 87,71% and in cycle two it improves into 100%. Based on the results of this study, it is proven that the discovery learning model and smart case game could improve the students’ learning results and to train them to be skillful, active, and independent. Moreover, the students’ curiosity about the materials is so high that it will assist them in improving their learning results.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the thesis guidance based lesson study (LS) to: 1) the acceleration of the student's accomplishment in Science Graduate Education Program UNS; and 2) the applicability of the implementation of problem based learning model. The method used in tne research was qualitative-descriptive. The population is all students of Semester 3rd in the Academic Year  2012/2013 at  Postgraduate Science Education Program UNS. Samples were selected by purposive sampling as researchers’ guidance student (M) which included 4 students with the different background and occupation, namely: 1) M.1: undergraduate student  of biology education and working as a teacher at SMP Negeri Surakarta with 10 years of teaching experience; 2) M.2: undergraduate student of  biology education and working as a private high school teacher in Surakarta with 13 years of teaching experience; 3) M.3: undergraduate student of biology education is a fresh graduate and have not been taught; 4) M.4: undergraduate student of natural biology and working as a lecturer at the Academy of Private Nursing in Surakarta. Descriptive qualitative methods are used to seeing the impact of the use of the guidance of a thesis-based lesson study to accelerating student study completion. The data collection technique is a technique test and non-test using a questionnaire, observation and documentation. Furthermore, the data were analyzed descriptively qualitative and presented in tabular form. The results showed: 1) Guidance LS-based thesis has an effective effect on the acceleration of the completion of studies students at UNS Graduate Science Education Program at (22.2%); and 2) Guidance based thesis can reduce students’ difficulties in research so that the problem based learning model can be implemented fluently.

Abstract

ABSTRAK-Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas X MIA pada materi pencemaran lingkungan di SMA A Surakarta.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi experimental research) dengan desain penelitian posttest only nonequivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X MIA SMA A Surakarta Tahun Pelajaran 2013/2014. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah cluster sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode tes dan non tes. Metode tes meliputi soal uraian kemampuan berpikir kritis sedangkan metode non tes meliputi observasi dan dokumentasi. Uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan uji-t (t-test) dibantu SPSS versi 16.Hasil uji hipotesis pengaruh model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis diperoleh nilai sig.<a yaitu 0,013 < 0,05 dan nilai thitung>ttabel(a,df) yaitu 2,563 > 1,670 sehingga H0 ditolak. Hal ini berarti perolehan rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis antara eksperimen kelas dan kelas kontrol berbeda nyata. Perbedaan tersebut juga didukung secara deskriptif yaitu dari nilai rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis kelas eksperimen (81,44) lebih tinggi dari kelas kontrol (75,97). Hasil capaian aspek berpikir kritis pada kelas eksperimen yaitu interpretation 90 %, analysis 53 %, inference 76 %, explanation 95 %, evaluation 82% dan self-regulation 93 %, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol yaitu interpretation 84 %, analysis 45 %, inference 84 %, explanation 91 %, evaluation 61 % dan self-regulation 91 %. Capaian tiap aspek berpikir kritis pada kelas ekperimen lebih tinggi dari kelas kontrol pada semua aspek kemampuan berpikir kritis kecuali aspek inference.Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis dan analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh signifikan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran biologi pada aspek interpretation, analysis, explanation, evaluation, dan self-regulation namun tidak signifikan pada aspek inference. Kata kunci: Model Pembelajaran Inkuiri Terbimbing, Kemampuan Berpikir KritisABSTRACT- The objective of this research was to find out the influence of guided inquiry learning toward the critical thinking skills of X MIA students on environmental pollution material in SMA A Surakarta. This research was a quasi experimental research with posttest only nonequivalent control group design. The population of the research is all of the X MIA students of SMA A Surakarta in the academic year of 2013/2014. The sample was selected through cluster sampling. The data were collected using test and non-test method. The test applied test method is critical thinking essay, while the applied non-test method is observation and documentation. The hypothesis testing is done by applying t-test with SPSS version 16. From the hypothesis result of the influence of guided inquiry learning toward critical thinking skill, the obtained result of the significance value is 0.013 (a< 0.05) and t = 2.563 > ttable(a,df) = 1.670. There is a significant difference in the mean score of critical thinking skill between experimental group and control group. The mean score of experimental group (81.44) is higher than control group (75.97). The achievement of each critical thinking skills aspects of experimental group on interpretation is 90 %, analysis is 53 %, inference is 76 %, explanation is 95 %, evaluation is 82% dan self-regulation is 93 %, while the achievement of each critical thinking skills aspects of control group on interpretation is 84 %, analysis is 45 %, inference is 84 %, explanation is 91 %, evaluation is 61 % dan self-regulation is 91 %. The achievement of each critical thinking skills aspects of experimental group is higher than control group in all of critical thinking skills aspects except inference. Based on hypothesis testing and data analysis it can be concluded that guided inquiry learning gives significant effect toward the critical thinking skill in biology learning on interpretation, analysis, explanation, evaluation, and self-regulation aspect but not significant on inference aspect.

Abstract

Serangga hama tanaman sawi merupakan masalah dalam budidaya tanaman sawi. Oleh karenanya perlu dilakukan pengendalian hama serangga tanaman sawi. Salah satu cara pengendaliannya adalah dengan menggunakan insektisida nabati. Insektisida nabati dapat dibuat dari tanaman yang terdapat di lingkungan, misalnya cabe jawa dan jahe merah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aktivitas kombinasi ekstrak cabe jawa dan  jahe merah terhadap pengendalian hama serangga tanaman sawi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan  rancangan penelitian berupa rancangan acak lengkap. Pemberian kombinasi ekstrak cabe jawa dan jahe merah menggunakan konsentrasi 50%. Data yang diambil berupa intensitas serangan serangga hama terhadap daun tanaman sawi yang diamati pada hari ke 10, 17, dan 24. Data selanjutnya dianalisis dengan teknik analisis sidik ragam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Fhitung intensitas serangan serangga hama pada hari ke 10, 17, dan 24 > Ftabel yang dapat diartikan kombinasi ekstrak cabe jawa dan jahe merah berpengaruh signifikan terhadap intensitas serangga hama tanaman sawi. Dengan demikian, kombinasi ekstrak cabe jawa dan jahe merah dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai insektisida nabati ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve science process skill (SPS) mastery of tenth graders using guided inquiry. Research design is classroom action research. Data taken by direct observation and analyzing the students' worksheet. Student worksheets analyzed by comparing to the SPS indicator from Harlen and Rustaman. Data analysis using descriptive method. It can be concluded that 1) application of guided inquiry can improve the students’ skill mastery. 2) Students will felt uncomfortable when moved from traditional learning class to guided inquiry without prior adaptation, impeding learning process, lowering students' perform and achievement. 3) Inquiry should be applied gradually, based on the condition and situation of the students, particularly when students used to traditional teaching.

Abstract

Sebuah penelitian eksperimen semu, telah dilakukan di Kota Samarinda, pada siswa kelas XI Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Sekolah Menengah Atas. Penelitian menerapkan empat  model pembelajaran (Cooperative Script, Think-Pair-Share, Gabungan Cooperative Script+Think-Pair-Share, dan konvensional), dan empat  etnis siswa (Jawa, Bugis, Banjar, dan Kutai). Fokus penelitian untuk mengetahui model pembelajaran yang berpotensi paling tinggi memberdayakan hasil belajar kognitif biologi dan dapat diterapkan untuk seluruh etnis siswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama semester ganjil tahun pembelajaran 2012/2013, dengan mengambil enam  kelas yang homogen berdasarkan etnis dan nilai ujian nasional Sekolah Menengah Pertama siswa. Pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling. Jumlah sampel yang diambil adalah 132 orang siswa. Instrumen penelitian adalah angket dan soal tes. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis teknik analisis deskriptif dan  Analisis Kovarian pada taraf signifikansi 5% (p˂0,05). Hasil analisis deskriptif terhadap etnis siswa, menunjukkan bahwa: 77,7% terdiri atas etnis: Jawa, Banjar, Bugis, dan Kutai; dan 22,3% terdiri atas etnis lainnya. Hasil analisis kovarian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran terhadap hasil belajar kognitif biologi siswa. Selanjutnya, hasil uji lanjut Least Significant Difference menunjukkan bahwa gabungan model pembelajaran Cooperative Script+Think-Pair-Share berpotensi paling tinggi dalam memberdayakan hasil belajar kognitif biologi dan dapat diterapkan untuk seluruh etnis siswa. Rata-rata dari rata-rata terkoreksi untuk interkasi gabungan model pembelajaran Cooperatif Script+Think-Pair-Share dengan seluruh etnis  siswa paling tinggi (81.75), lebih tinggi 0,57 kali dari interaksi pembelajaran konvensional dengan seluruh etnis siswa yaitu sebesar 52,21 (paling rendah). Penelitian sejenis di masa mendatang perlu dilakukan, untuk mendapatkan informasi lebih.Kata Kunci: Gabungan model pembelajaran, hasil belajar kognitif, etnis, biologi

Abstract

ABSTRACT- The purpose of this research is to know the comparison of problem based learning models with Guided discovery learning to activities of students of X grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ngawi in academic year 2013/2014. This study was a quasi experimental research. The research design was used post-test only nonequivalent control group design. This research applied problem based learning models and Guided Discovery Learning at experimental group. The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ngawi in academic year 2013/2014. Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X MIPA 4 experiment group I and X MIPA 6 as Experiment group II. Techniques of collecting data were test and non-test methods. The test method examination test. The non-test method included observation of activities student and documentation.  The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. This research concluded that there are differences activities of student to application of problem based learning and Guided Discovery Learning of grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ngawi in academic year 2013/2014.Keywords : activities., problem based learning., Guided discovery learning.
