Islamic Review merupakan jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Institut Pesantren Mathali'ul Falah (IPMAFA) Pati yang sebelumnya bernama Sekolah Tinggi Mathaliâ€™ul Falah Pati (STAIMAFA). Jurnal Islamic Review ini disingkat dengan â€œIRâ€. The present culture in the western world continues to hit the Islamic world through their modern and sophisticated information technology. On the other hand, Islam still stuck to its ethics in propagation activity that refers to the western civilization. The problems of propagation models actually give serious influence to either Islam or the West in particular. Therefore, through this study, it is important for Muslims to determine the strategies, methods and mission plan to anticipate the future globalization challenges. The explanation of this article is supported by propagation model approach used by both the civilizations. The ways for developing missions of propagation in the globalization era, an in-depth and comprehensive concepts and strategies are required. This is through observations based on the needs and conditions of the present societies, establishment of the Khilafah organizations, propagation by revealing the true nature of Islam, re-evaluation of the propagation activities, translating the western works to expand the knowledge and learn the history of Islam as reference material of propagation. Propagation can be used as the system changes of people's lives, politics, economics, culture and law that exist in a society. It also can be used as guidance of life so that people do not lose their idealism.

The mosque becomes the arena for power struggling between ideology and political interests in terms of identity negotiation among Islamic mainstreams in Indonesia. The mosque is also considered to be the important part in the context of religious movement and symbol of the collective identity. Then, the conflict of interest in terms of its philosophy and authority of the mosque becomes inevitable issue. Such phenomenon actually emerged from the reality of the growing diversity of religious models in Indonesia, particularly in the corpus of Islamic religion. The emergence of radical movements in the Indonesian Muslim society becomes an important mark that changes social structures of religion in the country. On one side, the issue of caliphate or Islamic state is used as a weapon of discourse that facilitates the involvement of any party in the political system. Consequently, it leads to the interest contestation in a broad sense of mosque. The mosque became the center of political interest; it turns as a commodity to support the representatives. So, this paper will explore the genealogy of radicalism in Indonesia that investigates the root of interest contestation in the "public area" of mosque. Furthermore, identity negotiation perspective and "public sphere" of Habermas will be used to analyze the models of power struggle in the mosque. At the end, the writer offers deterrorization and de-radicalization strategies for the mosque communities by making the mosque and community as a "habitus" in the framework of Boudieu.

Corruption, collusion, nepotism, globalism, westernism, and secularism have relentlessly bombarded this nation all the times. Therefore, it requires smart, effective, and visionary solutions. So far, this nation has overly lauded globalization by considering the West as the central advancement while the values of wisdom are mostly neglected as it was considered to be old-fashioned. However, the reality shows the contrary perceptions and beliefs. Globalism is an eminent threat that continues to spread poverty, injustice, authoritarianism, dictatorship, and permissive thought on a global scale. It is like a hungry lion that continue to pounce on prey with a strong hegemony and dominance. In this context, the nation is actually longing for ancestral values that had long been neglected. Rational thinking, practices, philosophy, and the track record of the ancestors turned out to contain all-powerful pearls that can drive progress and achieve victory through a more humanistic approach. Such religion and culture are ultimately the most valuable heritage of the ancestors that popularly known as the local wisdom. But unfortunately they often clash each other and it occurs even in a prolonged conflict. So, Islam is challenged to provide solution to this issue. This paper will explore the integration of Islam and local culture as a bridge to reach the local wisdom that is expected to be able in resolving the acute problem of this nation.

The present communication era led to a new phenomenon in the Islamic culture which is called as a mass or pop culture. The culture that tends to achieve high status, prestige, and pseudo honor through signs and symbols unfortunately results in a number of fundamental problems. This study will try to explore and examine on; how the Pop culture works; what is its correlation with Islam and what system can it be analyzed and approached. In an attempt to examine this phenomenon, the writer used Roland Bartens Semiotics approach that seeks to interpret every evolving evidences to be translated into a more dynamic model. In general, Islam is expressed through signs and then manifested into texts, this includes either contextual or textual text. Therefore, for its development, Islamic discourses should give a lot of attention to the contextual texts dimension of life in society, particularly those texts that relate to the contemporary life.

As a mass media, a movie is used as a means that reflects the reality of people and even by itself creates reality and public opinion. A film is not only a means of entertaining program, but it can help to demonstrate visually and dynamically. Besides, it is a tool to convey messages that becomes more vivid or realistic than merely the use of words or writings. In addition, film also able to provide confirmation of the conveyed materials for the audience to be more focused on the broadcasted content. Further, by displaying the Islamic culture and give massage of salvation and peace to the mankind, religious films increasingly get recognized as an important entity that must deserve special attention from the Muslims specially those who are engaged in propagation or da’wah activities in order to save human life and the people. According to the mission and the message of Islam, it is a religion of blessing to all human being (rahmatan li al– Alamin). In addition, the messages must be gently and smartly delivered to the audience without their feeling of being patronized. In addition, religious film can also become a touching movie on the affective side of human nature through spiritual and intuitive metaphors, logic and audio visual aesthetic language.

The article asserts that media has an important role in forming the consumptive society and indonesia, as the largest Muslim populous country becomes the central commodity for a number of various products. Moreover, during the special events of religious rituals such as Ramadhan and Eidul Fithr, it is considered to be the best time for the producers in making special advertising of Ramadhan and Eidul Fithr. As the advertisement is made so attractive and persuasive in the sight of people, a lot of them were easily attracted by. The presence of such luring devil for the attracted viewers has spent huge amount of money through products advertisement. Therefore, the religious ceremonies could not be understood in its correct sense. Unsurprisingly, some religious events including fasting is no longer understood as an attempt to feel the same suffering of those who are hungry and thirsty, but used as a right opportunity to be a pious Muslim to have excessive spending on the reason of preparing the fast-breaking together.

The arising terminological issues of communication in Islam have led to the different views in the perspective of science (science of communication). Generally, this study will clarify the relationship between Islam and the Mass Media, which, according to another term, is also called the linkage between Religion and Science (Science of Communication). To examine such interrelated links, the writer uses the triangulation method of Toshihiko Izutsu on the relationship between parole, speech, and langue. This is, in the term of Qur'an Communication is called linkage between kala>m (saying), qaul (words), and lisa>n (tongue). The conclusion is, the writer offers a model of Pro(f)ethics of Mass Media, between the values of divinity, humanity, and culture. If it is viewed in the Prophetic Social Sciences (ISP) perspective, the three were identical to the values of transcendence (God / Kala>m), humanization (human/qaul), and liberation (cultural communities /lisa>n).

Political movement of Kyai in combating colonialism, defending the independence, and Ful Filling and maintening is significant. As noted in the history Kyai plays in many levels and historical moment. At least there are 5 phase for the political movement of Kyai, Movement in the revolution era, movement in the Rising and new order era and reformation era. This article aims to analyze the typology of Kyai’s movement in every phase of time done by Kyai. The result show us that in every historical phase Kyai has implemented nation state politic as spirit of his struggle. And in reformation era, Kyai movement focused on practiced politic and much more bring madharat than goodness. So that it’s bring the image of Kyai be negative in front of his community. So that to giving back the function of Kyai as social power in society Kyai should play in the nation state politic, not the politic of interest.

Indonesia as dominantly Moslem population country’s not used Islamic authority as formally foundation. From this point, this paper aims to understand the concept of State moreover the Head of state from al-Mawardi> political philoshophy. With the philoshopical and Historical approached and library studies find that the concept of Indonesia State from the perspective of al-Mawardi> comes from the common aware to make community free and have a dignity. Besides that, Pancasila viewed as manifestation of Social contract and Indonesia Ideology as norms which agreed by the common peoples and also as foundation for social live and state ideology for the Indonesia. The other social contract if someone elected as leader of state, so that people must obey him as far not contradict with the Islamic values and doctrine.
