Abstract

This research is motivated by many Arabic Language students who only understand the terms of grammatical function in Nahwu, yet not with the essence of its meaning. Therefore, this research researches one of the books in the past - that keeps much secret knowledge - with semiotic studies as part of the linguistic form and educational value analysis. The purpose of the research is to recognize the icons, indexes, and symbols that had been used by Imam Ibnu Ajibah as the interpretation of terms in Nahwu and to know the value of education in this book. The research method that is used is qualitative descriptive with Pierce semiotic approach and literature review technique for research data collection. This research's primary data source is from Al-Futuhaat Al-Quddusiyah Fi Syarhi Muqaddimati Al-Jurumiyyah book created by Imam Ibnu Ajibah. The result of this research shows that there are two icons in the book: Tasawuf/Sufism (teachings on how to get closer to Allah and be united with Him) expert and the second one is what Sufi people do. Three indexes are also recognized: the speaking behavior index, behavior of a Salik index, and jihad behavior index. The six symbols inside the book are the Asma Allah symbol, the procedure of the Wushul symbol, the Ma'rifat symbol, the saints' oath symbol, the Jihad symbol, and the unseen symbol. The value of education in the book includes tawhid education values - which are Rububiyyah Tawhid and Asma wa Sifat Tawhid - and moral education values - which are morals towards Allah, Rasulullah, and morals towards human beings in their personal and social environment state-.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore how Arabic phonological, vocabulary, and grammatical are acquired.  A qualitative approach was used to deeply explore that acquisition. The results showed that the strategy of acquiring phonological aspects carried out by drilling audio listening activities, either in the form of lectures from native speakers directly or in the form of murottal, Netflix, YouTube, and online radio; while the vocabulary acquisition strategy is done by using an Arabic dictionary both online and offline, as well as reading more books, and news through online portals. Grammatical elements are acquired by directly reading nahwu and shorof books such as Jurumiyyah, Nahwu Wadhih, and Al-arabiyah baina yadaik practicing directly by studying Arabic sentences and practicing I'rab. The findings showed that the language acquisition process using various strategies can provide language acquisition of phonological, vocabulary, and grammatical aspects.  Practical implications and further research to explore more diverse variables and more complex research methods are provided.

Abstract

Assessment is one of the basic processes in the educational process after determining goals and teaching students. The national school final examination, in Indonesia called UAMBN, is one of the programs for conducting Arabic language tests, and focuses on assessing four skills of students. In fact, speaking skills test is not in the program. The purpose of this research is to criticize the lack of implementation of speaking skills assessment at UAMBN. Researcher used a critical methodology to analyze the data by configuration of four analytically distinguished but intertwined dimensions: (1) critical understanding and in-depth examination, (2) critical explanation and comparative generalization, (3) open discourse and transformative redefinition or action, and (4) reflexive–dialectic argumentation. The results of the study are the absence of an Arabic speaking skill test in the national madrasah final exam/UAMBN cannot be tolerated. Distributing the assessment process in national school final exams/USBN is not the right solution. UAMBN should still hold Arabic speaking skills tests in special sessions. The solution in the form of an assessment implementation design is available in this study. Further research related to the application of this design is highly recommended to improve the quality of learning Arabic speaking skills.
