Abstract

Standarisasi pengkategorian kondisi terumbu karang mengacu pada Keputusan Menteri Negara Lingkungan Hidup No. 04/MENLH/02/2001 tentang  Kriteria baku Kerusakan Terumbu Karang.

Abstract

The purpose of this experiment was to improve the growth and survival if fish.  This wwas done to help solving the problems of poor growth and frequent diasese outbreak faced by fish farmers group (pokdakan).  The fish used was Nile tilapia which was stocked at  a 1000 m2 pond at a density of 10 fish/m2.  After two weeks of aclimatization process, the fish was fed pellet supplemented with 7.5 g ginger powder per kg of feed.  Feeding time was 30 days at 5% of body weigth per day with a feeding frequency of three time a day.  Sampling of fish weight was carried out at day 30th. The result showed that after 30 days of feeding, the weight of fish (initial weight 5±0.6 g/fish) achived 17.5 g in average. The average daily growth was 4.2%. There was no mortality due to disease attack during the feeding trial. So the use of ginger extract can improve growth and survival of cultivated fish.

Abstract

Feed which is one of the most important factors in increasing fish growth must have good nutritional quality, meanwhile there is a problem of production efficiency in aquaculture, especially in intensive aquaculture caused by high feed costs due to high protein requirements. The effort to reduce the role of protein as a source of energy in feed is to maximize the use of feed carbohydrates as an energy source. This study aims to determine the type of carbohydrate raw material that is most effectively hydrolyzed by cow's rumen liquid waste and determine the type of feed carbohydrate raw material that is effective after being fed beef rumen fluid to maximize growth and survival in milkfish. The method in this study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments, namely (a) control using commercial feed; (b) feed with carbohydrate as a source of flour; and (c) feed with the source of raw material carbohydrate refined bran flour. The growth and survival data obtained were analyzed by variance analysis (ANOVA) and continued with the W-Tuckey test. The results of the analysis showed that feeding with various types of carbohydrate sources in the feed which was fermented first using cow's rumen liquid waste significantly affected (P <0.05) on the growth and survival of milkfish. Feeding with carbohydrate sources both wheat flour and fine bran which is fermented first by using cow rumen liquid waste provides growth and survival in milkfish which is better than the use of commercial feed.

Abstract

Balikpapan waters have a high potential for fisheries with an area of 300 km2. However, through BPS data in 2018, Balikpapan only accounts for 5% of East Kalimantan's fisheries production. Therefore, research related to the potential of fisheries in Balikpapan was conducted. The method used was a questionnaire to 40 fishers in the Manggar and Sepinggan villages. Several categories are asked. As for the results of the questionnaire, it is found that the condition of Balikpapan fishers are as follows: The fishing gear used by fishers in Balikpapan varies but is dominated by fishing nets and fishing rods. The length of boat ownership of 40 fishers is 37% of fishers having their boat between 1 to 3 years. Regarding the production, fishers only get 1 kg in worst season but could reach 80 kg in peak season. The number of trips for most Balikpapan fishers n is 30 days a month, but also depends on the weather. The South monsoon, many fishers do not go out to sea. Every trip, fishers have capital of between Rp. 100,000 up to Rp. 500,000. The education level of Balikpapan fishers is mostly elementary and junior high school graduates. Most of Balikpapan fishers are in the productive age range, 30-40 years. Regarding fishing boat ownership, it can be categorized into two types, namely own boats or shared boats. For shared boats, boat owner get a more significant share of the production. The catch of fishers is still not processed. Catches that are not sold are eaten alone or given to neighbours. More than half of the Balikpapan fishers who were questioned did not have any skills other than fishing. The ratio of fishers who have received training from the government, private sector or academics with those who do not is 6: 4. Balikpapan fishers are not familiar with aquaculture.
