Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the equilibrium of external genetic for the population of crossbreed chicken. Observations were made at the Poultry Production Unit Laboratory at Gorontalo State University. The focus was focused on the genetic equilibrium of the feathers covering the body, variations in coat color, calf color, and comb shape of the crossing population. Algebraic analysis (a + b = 1) was used to calculate phenotype frequencies, genes, and genes heterozygosity of feather color, feather pattern, shank color and comb shape for the cross chicken population. Analysis of genetic Equiblirium in the pattern of feather color, coat color, shank color, and comb shape in chicken populations was used the chi-square test. The genetic equilibrium for feather pattern can be achieved in the f2 generation. The f2 population found 3 feather color patterns: black, brown/light brown, and Columbia. Phenotype distribution; 9: 4: 3. The frequency of Genesis 0.157; 0.296; 0.546 and there was an increase in heterozygosity by 0.688 ± 0.121. The genetic equilibrium for comb shape is achieved in f1 and f2 generations. The genetic equilibrium for feather pattern can be achieved in the f2 generation.  The genetic equilibrium in cross-breed populations that have recessive/dominant homozygotes can be achieved in one generation while for cross-breeding chickens that have heterozygous properties, genetic equilibrium can be achieved in short generations if these traits are expressed evenly in the population.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the rumen ecosystem of Bali cattle which were given Complete Silage Feed with the main ingredient being corn straw. This study was used twelve Balinese cattle which are grouped based on body weight. Bali cattle body weight groups are K1: 160 Kg - 170 Kg; K2: 171 Kg - 187 Kg; and K3: 204 Kg - 220 Kg. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) with four treatments and three heavy groups. Feed care: R0 (85% Straw corn + 15% concentrate as a control); R1 (70% Corn straw + 5% Gamal leaves + 25% concentrate); R2 (65% Corn straw + 10% Gamal leaves + 25% concentrate); and R3 (60% corn straw + 15% Gamal leaves + 25% concentrate). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance, through the Exel Program. significant test using LSD. The parameters observed were pH, NH3 (ammonia), and VFA (fatty acids). Based on the results of the study showed the pH value of the rumen fluid was normal (6.80-6.90), the concentration of Ammonia produced: 13.67-31.64. Total VFA production is 70-90 mM, this VFA increases in line with an increase in Gamal leaves by 15%. Feeding Complete Silage from corn straw to Bali cattle does not affect the pH, NH3, and VFA values in the rumen.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the marketing of tuna fish in the city of Gorontalo. The analysis used includes marketing margin analysis, profit analysis, marketing efficiency analysis. The study was conducted in October-December 2019 in Gorontalo City. Tuna marketing institutions include; retailers, traveling vendors, and collectors. Tuna fish marketing in Gorontalo City follows general marketing channels, institutions that carry out marketing activities or functions from the producers to the consumers. Tuna Fish marketing is done alone by fishermen or through retailers, traveling traders and (local) collectors, and then sold directly to consumers. Fishermen sell to the market, limited to retailers and direct consumers, with marketing areas only for traditional markets in the city of Gorontalo. Fishermen sell fish to big traders, then big traders sell Tuna fish to exporters in Bali, Makassar, Palu and Surabaya. Exporters then export tuna fish to foreign countries. The initial price of tuna from producers (fishermen) is IDR 40,000 / kg based on the results of an analysis that shows that the margins of each marketing institution include retailers IDR 20,000 / kg, traveling traders IDR 30,000 / kg and traders gathering IDR 50,000 / kg . The highest margin is the trader 55.56%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of chicken species on the quality and fertility of spermatozoa. Semen is collected from Kampung, Arab, and Bangkok chickens through a massage method. The semen obtained is collected in a test tube, then diluted with Ringer's Dextrose. Spermatozoa examination is carried out macroscopically and microscopically. There are eighteen (18) female leghorn chickens used to test the fertility of spermatozoa, through the process of hatching eggs in an incubator. The research design used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with three (3) treatments and six (6) replications. Data analysis using analysis of variance, if there are differences, continued with the Least Significant Difference test (LSD). The results showed that the fertility of Bangkok chicken spermatozoa was significant (P 0.01) compared to the sperm fertility of Arab chickens and Kampung chickens. The average fertility value of each cement is Kampung chicken: 68.88%, Arabic chicken: 71.32%, Bangkok chicken: 89.96%. The quality of Bangkok chicken semen is better than native chicken and Arabic chicken

Abstract

Polysaccharides contain mannan (PM) from palm kernel meal (PKM) potential as leader pathogen microorganism and enhancing the immune responses. The objective of the study was to evaluate efficacy of PM as oral adjuvant in increasing AI H5N1 antibody titer and immunoglobulin A (IgA) in serum of broiler thirty chickens age 1 - 6 weeks were divided onto five groups and assigned randomly to five vaccine treatments i.e : un-vaccinated birds (R0A), birds vaccinated with antigen H5N1 + 0 µg PM (R0B), birds vaccinated with antigen H5N1 + 50 µg PM (R1), birds vaccinated with antigen H5N1 + 100 µg PM (R2) and  birds vaccinated with antigen H5N1 + 200 µg PM (R3). The results showed the treatment did not reduce broiler body weight (PM is not toxic). AI H5N1 antibody titer increased significantly (P0.05) one week after the first vaccination, serum IgA of broiler also increased significantly (P0.05) two weeks after the second vaccination. R3 treatment (200 μg PM) produce higher HI antibody titer ≤ 5 log2 and serum IgA 1.6 fold higher compared with those of broiler received R0A and R0B. It can be concluded that PM can increase the immune response in broiler chickens and can be used as an adjuvant for inactive AI vaccine.
