Abstract

So far, studies on the identity of Madurese bulls have not been adequately identified, especially the way of seeing of the Madurese bulls family. Madurese bulls are often seen as a secondary complement to the life of the Madurese. In fact, historically, metaphysically, and politically, Madures bulls are part of the 'close family' of the Madurese, whether we realize it or not. The power of the media industry, which has an impact on the cultural industry, has changed the identity of Madurese bulls as an industrial product. The advertisements for "Marjan" and "Samsung Galaxy" are an actual phenomena of the influence of the cultural industry and media culture because both advertisements show Madurese bulls. The Madurese bulls family in Sapodi (the legendary island as the best Madurese Bulls producer in Madurese bulls race Island) perceives the commercial viewing of “Marjan” Madurese bulls and “Galaxy” Madurese bulls with different seeing among their family members. This reception resulted in a struggle for recognition between them so as to create an unstable meaning of Madureseness identity because the audience of the two commercials represented each other as determining the 'authenticity' of Madurese bulls, although basically the 'authenticity' had been lost by the magic of the mass media. Keywords : Struggle of Identity, Madurese Bulls, and Madurese Bulls Family

Abstract

The effort to meet the community's need for space is to change the function of land which was originally used as agricultural activity to become a space for other community activities and is non-agricultural in nature, which we will later call the conversion of agricultural land. Generally, uncontrolled conversion of agricultural land functions, if not addressed, can lead to serious problems, among others, can threaten the capacity of food supply and environmental sustainability. The trend of increasing demand for land makes conversion of agricultural land difficult to avoid. The loss of agricultural land and the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural functions regardless of its form are indicators for the development of modern cities. The modern city which is synonymous with industrialization and the splendor of buildings will gradually remove agricultural areas and change the environmental ecosystem further. If viewed from an ecological point of view, of course this problem causes environmental imbalance which will have a negative impact on food security. But what about the conversion of agricultural land from the viewpoint of spatial politics? Keywords: Agricultural land, land use changes, political spatial

Abstract

Migration is one of population studies which has been widely reviewed, particularly labor migration between countries. A booming labor movement recently, gives no small contribution for the country through remittances. However, labor migration, women migrant workers in particular, has its own consequences in the form of changes that occur not only at community level but also at family level. This study attempts to portray power in the migrant family after the wife migrates. The approach used in this study was qualitative with the perspective of Peter M Blau Social Exchange. The results of the study reveal that migration done by women migrant workers changes the power in the family, that is power destruction in the form of domination on the final decision in the family. An increase in economy in line with an increase or even a strengthening in bargaining position of women to men in the family. In this level, Economy is the major determinant of the change. Whereas, the knowledge obtained by the women while being overseas is the minor determinant in the social exchange to husband. Keywords: Power Deconstruction, Women Migrant Worker, Bargaining Position

Abstract

This article aims to examine the critical theory of the Fraknfurt school, especially those related to its history, concepts, assumptions, and contributions. Historically-geneologically, critical theory was born from the womb of Marxist theory. Although born from the womb of Marxist theory, critical theory is not too satisfied with the analysis of the Marxians who are considered too mechanistic economic determinism in seeing the social reality of Western capitalist society. According to critical theory, the Marxian analysis in viewing and analyzing the inequality of the reality of capitalist society in Europe is too reductionist, that is, it is the economic factor (structure) that determines socio-economic inequality or class conflict in a capitalist society. The critical theory developed by the people who call themselves Neo-Maxians, exists to further develop the classical Marxian analysis, which rests not only on economic factors, but also on other socio-economic factors. The Frankfurt school of critical social theory thought services pioneered by Horkheimer, however, has provided a relatively new (though not very new) theoretical perspective in seeing, understanding and analyzing social reality. This critical social theory perspective has contributed significantly to the development of social theory. One of them is that critical theory has contributed to the development of critical and emancipatory awareness of human practice in seeing social realities that are full of inequality and injustice.Keyword : Critical Theory, Frankfurt School, History, Development of Social Theory
