Abstract

Abstract—The growth of rapid development in the big cities but without well planning in terms of fire prevention and the things that can cause a fire, for example electrical installations and gas that can either lead to frequent fires in the residential homes. The aim of the study is to prevent fires by detecting the presence of smoke and excessive heat around the house and protect the occurrence of fires that have wide impacts. The outcome of the fire protection design using smoke and heat detector based on microcontroller is to detect both smoke and heat hazards. If there is a danger of smoke or heat, then the system will provide a warning alarm, provide the path to the door emergency evacuation, and provide protection to extinguish the fire before the fire was enlarged.

Abstract

A numerical investigation of asymmetric diffuser which equipped with vortex generator is presented. The investigation is aimed to know fluid flow characteristic in asymmetric diffuser which equipped with vortex generator on the up side of its diverging wall and to determine the effectiveness of using vortex generator on diffuser performance. Numerical investigation method was done by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method with Fluent 6.3.26 software and with software of GAMBIT 2.4.6 to designed geometry and discriminated (meshing) it. The procedures performed on numerical investigation were pre-processing, solving, and post-processing stages. The results show that the flow of fluid simulated shear stress transport (SST) k-ω did not suffer a deflection toward the straight wall shortly at the time when entering the diffuser. Standard k-ε predicted the flow was deflected when entering the diffuser. Addition of vortex generator was not able to reduce the amount of adverse pressure gradient effect that occurred within the diffuser so using vortex generator was not effective to improve diffuser performance.

Abstract

Black tea is a tea that is currently the most widely consumed by the people of Indonesia. Consumption of black tea more than two cups per day can affect in human healthy because tea contains 20-90 mg of caffeine per cup, while the maximum consumption of caffeine is 150 mg per day and the maximum limit of caffeine is 0.02% in food and beverages. The method used in this study is the method of soxhlet extraction by varying the ethyl alcohol as solvent are 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% with 2.5 hours extraction time. The initial caffeine content in black tea samples was 3.97%, after extraction decreased significantly levels of caffeine on 50% ethyl alcohol concentration is 0,0199%. The extraction method using Soxhlet technique is very effective to reduce caffeine in black tea.

Abstract

Kaltim-5 Factory is the biggest plant for Ammonia and Urea in Indonesia. Construction of this plant was executed by Consortium IKPT-TOYO. Along the construction stage, procurement for materials were absolutely needed, and Procurement Department IKPT-TOYO has responsibility to handle materials procures. System that currently used is still using Microsoft Excel by manual input for each steps beginning from inquiry stage, getting vendor quotation until PO issued. This method still has some problems occurred such as uncontrolled stock and material requisition, also inquiry sheet which can be easily lost. In order to support the completion of K5-Project that needs more materials, therefore it needs a system that can ease and also improve the work of Procurement Department. Based on this background, research study to resolve this problem is held. This system gives status information and it is integrated to the each control step smoothly. System development used on this program is SDLC with Waterfall model. Moreover, testing methods is using Black Box system. The design of this monitoring information system describes a work order application by using PHP Macromedia Dreamweaver 8, AppServ 2.10.2 as web server and MySQL as database. Having testing the application, the result of this study shows that the application is able to improve the data processing of material procurement with minimum of error and high accuracy.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is the determinationof Irrigation water requirement based on primer datas collectingand analysis factors of land preparation, plant growth,determination of water loss due to percolation. Irrigation waterrequirement depends from various factors in the preparation ofthe land, plant growth, determination of water loss due topercolation, the determination of the replacement of water andrain layer effectively. The availability of irrigation water iscalculated based on discharge data retrieval on the TaroangSecondary channel. which then processed to obtain the finalresult of the availability of water in the channel. Results of thestudy shown that needs water to irrigate an area of secondarychannels Taroang covering an area of 2,140 Ha as much 39.11m3/s. While the availability of water that goes into the secondarychannel taroang where discharge a minimum of 0.12 m3/s and themaximum discharge of 0.31 m3/s.

Abstract

This Paper aims to analyze the performance level of Pasar Butung post-fire on December 15, 2010. The fire was centered on the 1st and 2nd floor. Data retrieval include visual observation, carbonation test, concrete hammer test, concrete core test and tensile test of steel reinforcement that was held on January, 2011. All data that was taken will use to analyze the structure. Observations indicate that the temperature of the fire around 400oC. Beams and columns on floors 1 and 2 had cracks and the quality of concrete fell 62% from 21.15 MPa to 14 MPa at the outer cross-section. While the floor plates 2 and 3 having a width of cracks and residual concrete quality is only 11.57 MPa. Pushover analysis (static lateral load) is a nonlinear static analysis that can provide detailed information about the collapse behavior of structures against earthquake loads, while the performance point is the magnitude of the maximum displacement of the structure during an earthquake plan. Results of 3D nonlinear static pushover analysis on the structure of Pasar Butung shows that performance point is achieved when the base reaction V reach 484.97 tons with displacement of 0.021 m (2.1 cm) at step 3. Results of analysis showed that the performance of the structure is still within the limits of Life Safety.

Abstract

Air merupakan salah bahan yang sangat penting dalam campuran agregat, semen dan bahan tambah lain jika dibutuhkan agar terjadi proses kimiawi semen yang membentuk pasta sebagai pengikat agregat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh air laut sebagai air campuran dan perawatan beton terhadap kuat tekan, porositas dan sorptiviti beton. Sejumlah benda uji dengan ukuran 15 cm x 30 cm dan 10 cm x 20 cm dengan kandungan semen 450 kg/m3 diuji pada umur 28 hari dengan mengacu pada standar ASTM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kuat tekan beton yang dicampur dengan air laut (BLT dan BLL) mengalami peningkatan kuat tekan terhadap kuat tekan beton yang dicampur dengan air tawar (BTT dan BTL) yang diikuti dengan penurunan porositas beton. Kuat tekan beton yang dicampur dan dirawat dengan air laut (BLL) diperoleh 352,29 kg/cm2 dengan porositas sebesar beton 17,06 %. Kuat tekan beton yang dicampur air laut dan dirawat dengan air tawar (BLT) diperoleh 331,61 kg/cm2 dengan porositas beton 16,87 %. Kuat tekan beton yang dicampur dengan air tawar dan dirawat dengan air tawar (BTT) sebagai beton pembanding diperoleh 314,05 kg/cm2 dengan porositas 17,97 %. Kuat tekan beton yang dicampur dengan air tawar dan dirawat dengan air laut (BTL) diperoleh 297,80 kg/cm2 dengan porositas 16,44 %. Sorptiviti beton yang baik cenderung ditunjukkan beton yang dirawat dengan air laut (BTL dan BLL).

Abstract

The specific objective of this research is to producea system of internallightning and Eksternal lightning rod withgrounding which has been widely used in industries such aslightning protection and grounding system of substation,transmission lines and coupling wire used in high-rise buildingseither belong to government or private property. In this study,lightning rod is located outside the building structure that servesto catch or receive the bolt of lightning and the lightning deliverto the ground safely. In this study there were 5 different depths ofelectrode rod; 3 m, 5 m, 7 m, 9 m, and 12 m, moreover, 5 widevariety of electrode plate that are 1 x 1 m2, 0.75 x 0.75 m2, 0.5 x0.5 m2, 0.35 x 0.35 m2, 0.25 x 0.25 m2. For grounding electrode rod with a depth of 3 m, 5 m, 7 m, 9 m, 12 m in dry conditions grounding resistance values obtained ranged from 1.55 to 2.03 Ohm. For moist soil conditions, grounding resistance values obtained ranged from 2.21 to 2.60 Ohm. For wet soil conditions grounding resistance values obtained ranged from 1.97 to 2.34 Ohm. For grounding plate, R11 and R12 on the dry conditions grounding resistance values obtained ranged from 2.08 to 2.45 Ohm. For moist soil conditions grounding resistance values obtained ranged from 1.88 to 2.18 Ohm. For wet soil conditions grounding resistance values obtained ranged from 1.55 to 2.06 Ohm. On the external lightning rod with two added electrodes with a depth of 12 m and then connected in parallel with the electrode plate to get the smallest value of grounding resistance in accordance with the standards prescribed.

Abstract

Traffic engineering that has been designed around this Kepuhsari terminal is to apply turn right at the intersection Jl.Brawijaya-Jl.Soekarno Hatta-Jl. Mastrip Jombang for public transportation or bus from Surabaya. Then through Jl. Mastrip to stop or enter at Kepuhsari terminal. Segment Jl. Jombang Mastrip is a type 2/1 UD (Undivided) road which is used as bus exit or public transportation access from terminal to out of town Jombang. Then this road segment is changed to type 2/2 undivided. Performance analysis at peak hour on Jl. Mastrip Jombang after the change of the type to 2/2 UD using the method of Manual Capacity of Road Indonesia (MKJI) 1997. Retrieved capacity segment Jl. Mastrip (2/2UD) = 2552 smp/days, and the value of volume and capacity ratio (v/c ratio) is 0.54 means that the current condition of the traffic in the Jl. Mastrip is still stable. While in the next 5 years, the value of volume and capacity ratio (v/c ratio) is 0.72, that the condition of traffic flow is relatively stable. But the volume and capacity ratio is in critical condition (terms of v/c ratio is ≤0,75). Because many buses do not enter the Kepuhsari Terminal, the Government of Jombang suffers a loss of Rp. 82 million per year. With the design of traffic engineering on roads around Kepuhsari Terminal, it can increase the regional finance from of the entrance tax for public transport or buses entering the terminal by 33.7%.

Abstract

Hydrological data is the data that became the basis of planning activities Water Resources Management (SDA) in the river area, such as irrigation building planning, water building, river management, flood control and others. Therefore, hydrological data needs to be managed into a geographic information system to provide accurate, true and timely SDA information for all interested parties. By knowing the position of climate observation post and rain station along with the climatic and rainy data, which can be observed by the public, it is expected that the control over the implementation of development can be done more openly. The results obtained from this research are digital map position of observation post along with climate data, water level and rainfall along with South Sulawesi Province that can be used by public, government, and educational institution that need location of station position and data recording climate observations, water levels and rainfall in South Sulawesi.
