Abstract

In recent decades, several research works have been focused on the efficient Power Factor Correction (PFC) converter design in to meet the power supply efficiency. Conventional PFC cuk converter widely uses the full bridge rectifier which had resulted in overall increase of converter losses and inefficiency. This paper is intended to develop a novel PFC Bridgeless cuk converter for LED lamp applications. In this work, the limitations of the conventional PFC Cuk converter are resolved. The major contributions of the proposed work include the minimization in the number of conduction devices and minimization of the power utility devices which in turn resulted in minimal losses and better efficiency. Moreover, the proposed converter works in DCM which requires only one voltage sensor which results in reduced cost. The proposed Modified BL Cuk converter (MBL-CUK) for LED lamp is simulated in MATLAB and the corresponding results show the better power quality indices such as power factor and Total Harmonic Distortion.

Abstract

This paper deals with the interconnected grid hybrid renewable energy system (HRES). The wind energy conversion system (WECS), is built around a wind turbine coupled to a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). The stator of DFIG is directly related to the grid and the rotor is connected to the grid through back-to-back power converters. The proposed algorithm combines the nonlinear Backstepping approach and the eld orientation applied to control the DFIG. In a rst step, this technique is applied to the side converter rotor (RSC), to control the electromagnetic torque and reactive power, and secondly, it is applied to the grid side converter (GSC) to control the power exchanged with the grid and regulate the DC bus voltage. The PV energy system is composed by the PV array and the DC-DC boost converter which controlled by the MPPT method to extract the optimal power. Simulations results present the performances in terms of set point tracking, stability, and robustness with respect to the variation in wind speed and irradiation.

Abstract

This paper compares the execution of Sinusoidal Pulse width Modulation (SPWM) and Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVM) methods for a Quasi Z-source inverter (QZSI) is an another topology got from the standard Z-source inverter (ZSI).The QZSI gets each one of the upsides of the ZSI, which can comprehend buck/boost, inversion and power forming in a singular stage with upgraded trustworthiness. In like manner, the proposed QZSI has the novel purposes of enthusiasm of lower part evaluations and unfaltering dc current from the source. The QZSI highlights a broad assortment of voltage expansion which is reasonable for applications in photovoltaic (PV), as a result of the way that the PV cells yield contrasts comprehensively with temperature and daylight based enlightenment. The working qualities of the proposed course of action is analyzed in inconspicuous component and appeared differently in relation to that of the SPWM and SVM. Speculative examination of voltage help and direction methods for the QZSI in PV is explored in this paper. Amusement of the circuit setup for the previously stated equalization procedures have been taken a gander at in MATLAB/Simulation. Besides, the THD examination of both SPVM and SVM is compared.

Abstract

This paper introduces a control scheme of Indirect Matrix Converter which includes space vector modulation to stabilize the frequency variations. The terminal voltage and frequency of any synchronous machine can be controlled easily with this scheme. Further the control strategy is proposed and implemented in Matlab/Simulink Embedded system which gives significant better performance compared to conventional control technique like better Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), more output voltage with same Modulation Index, less switching stress and less switching loss. This method might prove effective for wind energy conversion system using DFIG as the DFIG speed is close to synchronous speed. The complete control strategy is verified using MATLAB/Simulink.

Abstract

The photovoltaic (PV) power cohort becoming more and more attractive in modern power systems era to meet out the power demand in the globe. Consequently, the extraction of maximum power and reduced power electronics stuff for PV based power generation system research studies are growing continuously to meet out the large power-scale/high-voltage grid-tie demands. In this junction, to improve the efficiency of the existing PV tied Quasi-Z source inverter (QZSI), in this paper the new attempt has proposed here by connecting two batteries across to the QZ capacitors. When a battery connected across each capacitor, this system can deliver power to the load power when the PV panel outputs a variable power with fluctuations. The battery can be charged or discharged without any extra circuit, because of the unique impedance network of QZSI. New PWM techniques and principles are proposed to control the new energy stored QZSI when applied to the PV power system. They can control the inverter output power and manage the battery power simultaneously. The operating principle and power flow of this system are analysed. The Simulated and experimental results through using the planned 0.2-kW prototype validate the proposed analytic model and the design method. In addition, this paper analyzes all of the functioning states for a QZSI and calculates the power loss.

Abstract

This paper presents the advantage of using optimal PI parameter tuning strategy of constant switching method in the three phase Direct torque control (DTC) scheme. The DTC system is known to offer fast decoupled control of torque and flux via a simple control structure. Nevertheless, DTC system has two major drawbacks, which are the variable inverter switching frequency and high torque output ripple. The major factorthat contributes to these problems the usage of hysteresis based comparators to control the output torque. The implementation of PI based constant switching method in DTC able to solve these problems while retaining the simple control structure of conventional DTC. The combination usage of 3-level CHMI in this system can further minimize the output torque ripple by providing greater number of vectors. This paper presents detail explanation and calculationof optimal PI parameter tuning strategyconsecutively to enhance the performance of 3-level DTC system. In order to validate the feasibility, the proposed method compared with convention DTC system via simulation and experiment results.

Abstract

Induction heating method is a well known process to produce heat in a localized area on a susceptible metallic object. High frequency power, a work coil and an ancillary instrument part is the basis of induction heating. It is used in industrial and domestic areas where uniform and rapid heating is absolutely essential. As it is highly needed, in this research work, the effectiveness of induction heating will be verified by different curing methods. Firstly to initiate the asphalt concrete curing by high frequency induction heating so that the concrete become durable, electrically conductive and appropriately adjusted for induction heating, steel wire mesh / GI wire mesh is employed which is a good conductor of electricity. Now when micro cracks are likely to occur in asphalt product, the temperature of the asphalt material can be made high by induction heating of the steel wire mesh / GI wire mesh due to which the micro cracks are repaired itself and cracks are repaired by the increased temperature curing of bitumen by the physical process of diffusion and flow of the material. Consequent upon the repair, pre repair of small cracks, major cracks fail to occur protecting the road and thus ravelling of the road prevented to a great extent.

Abstract

In this paper we are interested in optimizing the wind power capture, using the Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). This machine is preferred to other types of variable speed generator because of their advantages in economic terms and control. The Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based on Direct Torque Control (DTC) which is used to control the electromagnetic torque in order to extract the maximum power, The  main  objective  of this intelligent technique is to replace the conventional switching table  by  a  voltage  selector  based  on  (ANN)  to  reduce torque  and  flux  ripples. Moreover, the fuzzy logic controller is used to grid side converter to keep DC link voltage constant, and also to achieve unity power factor operation. The main advantage of the two control strategies proposed in this paper is that they are not influenced by the variation of the machine parameter. The pitch control is also presented to limit the generator power at its rated value. Simulation results of 1,5 MW, for (DFIG) based Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) confirm the effectiveness and the performance of the global proposed approaches.
