Abstract

Sports facilities and infrastructure in schools in Indonesia still do not receive special attention from the government and society. Sports facilities and infrastructure in all public high schools in Aceh Besar have not been properly surveyed, so that the need for sports facilities and infrastructure in each school is not met with certainty. This study aims to determine the existence and condition of sports facilities and infrastructure in SMA Negeri Aceh Besar in the 2014/2015 academic year. The approach in this research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with the type of evaluation. The population in this study amounted to 28 public high schools, and the sample in this study amounted to 18 public high schools. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews and observations. The results of the data analysis show that: In all SMA Negeri Aceh Besar there is not a single public SMA that meets the standard of use or completeness of sports facilities and infrastructure. There are 141 sports facilities and infrastructure that are not available in SMA Negeri Aceh Besar, including: sports facilities totaling 79 types and sports infrastructure totaling 62 types. Sports facilities and infrastructure that are lacking in SMA Negeri Aceh Besar are 471 types, including sport facilities totaling 263 types and sports infrastructure totaling 208 types. The condition of sports facilities and infrastructure in SMA Negeri Aceh Besar is generally not good. It is hoped that the Aceh Besar Government will be able to complete sports facilities and infrastructure in schools, in realizing outstanding students in school-level sports events at the same level.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims: 1) To determine the application of the Examples Non Examples Model in improving students’ skills in compiling the text structure reports; 2) To determine the increase in compiling the text structure of the report in improving the students' skills in compiling the text structure of the report through the application of Model Examples Non Examples This research was conducted using an interactive qualitative model and a class action research approach to PTK (class action research) which was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle included planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The subjects of this classroom action research were students of class IX.8 odd semester SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Pakam Kab. Deli Serdang. The results indicated that there was an increasing in the learning outcomes achieved by students in mastering the material. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that in cycle 1 the students' learning completeness in this material was only 63.00, while in cycle 2 by applying the Examples Non-Examples Model learning strategy increased in cycle 2 the average value increased to 77.67.

Abstract

Educational supervision is an activity carried out by supervisors through the process of mentoring, coaching, providing information and knowledge to the teachers and headmaster as an effort to improve and to increase the competency, performance, quality of learning, professional development, and achievement of educational objectives. This study aims to describe the urgency of supervision implementation in educational institutions. This study used literature review approach: it is the description of theory and result of research that has been conducted as the research foundation. Supervision would be conducted democratically, comprehensively, constructively, objectively, and continuously through collegial, clinical, individual and artistically approach which are appropriate with the condition of the educational institutions. Supervision is important to do because through the supervision, it would motivate and improve the performance of headmaster, teachers, and other staffs, improve and develop the quality of education, and also achieve the educational objectives. The supervisors in carrying out the duties and functions should role as the consultant, coordinator and lead evaluator by creating harmonious relationship, honest, cooperative, patient, and a role model with other good attitudes.

Abstract

This article portrays the fundamental paradigm of language, English in this case, which has transformed from a traditional point of view to a functional one. Dealing with the mandate of the curriculum, both of primary education and tertiary education curriculum, that language learning does not rely simply on patterns, pronunciation, and vocabulary. However, language learning is a learning process by involving the effort in enabling students to strengthen four English skills, listening speaking reading and writing. Though, in this era, communicative competence has been the ultimate goal of language teaching orientation (Savignon, 2017). Changing the mindset of language is not just learning the rules, but also how to change with the mindset that learning language is to be able to actualize students and enable them to use language communicatively and contextually. This view is in line with the hermeneutics philosophical view. It sees language learning as being able to understand meaning and interpret meaning based on context and situation. Language teachers are expected to understand those differences through managing teaching learning process in traditional view and functional view.

Abstract

In Indonesia, English has been taught for many years ago to enable the students to be able to communicate in English effectively. Unfortunately, the results of English teaching and learning at senior high schools were far expectation. Therefore, as one of the efforts by the government is to keep changing curriculum hoping that it can provide better results. School Based Curriculum (SBC) has been implemented in Indonesia in the action of perfecting the competence-based curriculum. SBC gives a school a chance to develop teaching materials based on the school potentials, students’ needs and ability and the need of the society around the school.  SBC also focus on the process orientation rather than product orientation. SBC also expects integration of the material to be authentic or based on the real-life situation so the students know how the language works in real life context with the purpose that students can learn English better. However, the efficiency of developing and implementing SBC in most schools are very low because the tasks those need to be dealt with are very complex and difficult and in the reality, the schools have encountered a number of challenges in the process such as lack of capabilities and skills of teachers, lack of resources and material and not there is no sufficient fund.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an alternative of vocabulary teaching through the use of English-language film clips and videos with subtitles with relevant activities which was conducted towards students of Class XI of SMAIT Al Fityan School. This research was conducted online using one pretest and posttest group through a mixed method approach; qualitative and quantitative research (quasi experiment). The data in quantitative form come from online tests. The data in qualitative form, to clarify the test results, come from the questionnaires, interviews, and observations. Based on the nonparametric statistical tests taken by 30 students of Class XI IPA and XI IPS using the Wilcoxon Test with the value of Sig. or the P value 0.000 in which 0.000> α 0.05. This result shows a significant difference between the pretest and posttest. These results indicate that the use of clip film and video media with subtitles may support students’ understanding & improvement of vocabulary learning besides may obtain new learning experiences for the senior high school students.

Abstract

This study aims at determining individual differences from aspects of intelligence and talent and their implications for learning. These individual differences need to be given special treatment in order to identify problems that arise. Knowing the factors that influence individual differences can provide solutions and detect early on and appropriate treatment  in accordance with the child’s development. This research uses literature study method by processing and analyzing a number of relevant literature. Data are analyzed, grouped, and interpreted to determine the factors that influence individual differences. The results showed that individual differences based on the aspects of intelligence and talent can be given attention from parents, encouraging expression, choosing a good school for children, and efforts to address individual differences in learning with open learning in children at school.

Abstract

During training researchers saw athletes perform service techniques that did not pass the net, imperfect recieve techniques ,weak smash techniques and not even on target often also did not pass the net, feed techniques that were not so perfect that the killer could not smash, did not dare block so that the ball entered easily. Football skills play a very important role in a match and the success of training in a training center. The purpose of the study was to find out the level of takraw football skills in PPLPD Aceh athletes in 2019. The population of this study was Pplpd Aceh athletes and the study subjects numbered 8 people with total sampling techniques. Data collection is done by takraw football skills test consisting of Service, Receive, Smash, Feed, Block. The data obtained by youth was analyzed using statistical techniques in the form of percentages and category helpers. In conclusion, the mean value of service skills is 34.87 in the "Good" category, the average value of recieve skills is 24 in the "Good" category, the average value of smash skills is 27.75 in the "Less" category, the average feeder skill value is 32.62 in the "Medium" category, the average block skill value is 18.5 in the "Medium" category. This means the service, recieve, is in a good category, while feed and block are in the Medium category, and Smash is in the category of less. This signifies the need for further improvement and coaching exercises specifically for smash skills.

Abstract

This research is a type of classroom action research (PTK). The problem in this study is whether the application of the interactive learning model with prompting questions is effective in improving the mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Pakam on the subject matter of the Coordinate System? The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not the interactive learning model was effective with prompting questions to improve the mathematics learning outcomes on the subject matter of the Coordinate System. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that in cycle 1 the students' learning completeness in this material is only 65.50 while in cycle 2 by applying the interactive learning model learning strategy with prompting questions, it increases in cycle 2 the average value increases. to 87.89. Student response also increased, data from observations of student activity from 60.42% in cycle 1, increased in cycle 2 to 87.50%. This means that the average mathematics learning outcomes taught by interactive learning models with prompting questions are greater than the average mathematics learning outcomes taught by conventional learning methods. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the average test results of the experimental class are greater than the control class so that it can be said that the interactive learning model with prompting questions is effective for improving the mathematics learning outcomes. Expertise on the main material of the Coordinate System, and it is recommended that teachers continue to develop interactive learning models with prompting questions and apply it to other subject matter learning

Abstract

performances. The kinds of strategies used by EFL students of English Education Department Ar-Raniry year of 2016 in reducing their stress in English speaking performances are expected to be used as a solution for the other EFL students in overcoming the anxiety in English speaking. The study is a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The respondents of this study were 27 students of unit 02 English Education Department of Ar-Raniry year of 2016. The data obtained through a questionnaire. The items in the questionnaire adapted from Kondo and Ying-Ling (2004) and Robin K. Buchler (2013) research frameworks. The findings show the students cope with their anxiety by using some strategies, such as; Positive Thinking, Resignation, Peer seeking, Preparation, and Relaxation. The most strategy used by students is Preparation strategy, where the total number of them were used it. All of the strategies are expected can be used as the problem solver for the other EFL student.
