Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to observe and analize the  students’ speaking ability ini speaking class by using scoring rubric. This research was field research which observed the English Department students of Muhammadiyah Aceh University in delivering idea based on what the lecturer asked. The observation sheet was used to get data about the students’ speaking ability based on scoring rubric and the questionnaire sheet shared to get information about their problems and how they solve them. 15 students of IV semester of speaking class taken as the sample. They were taken through random sampling. From the result, there was only one student who got perfect score, and the rest were categorized as good score, average and poor.  The problems that the students faced in speaking class were less confidence, anxiety, lack of vocabulary and problems in grammar ability. For those reasons, they tried to motivate themselves to be better, got enough practice, and memorized English vocabulary.

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is the ability to parse or develop teaching material, make conclusions, build representations, analyze and relate the information obtained. For example, students understand what they are reading, they will make conclusions and use information obtained in the text they are reading. The 2013 curriculum must integrate HOTS ability in the learning process, namely the ability to think in creating ideas, analyzing, and evaluating. This study aims to determine and analyze the ability of HOTS students in SMP IT Nurul Islah Banda Aceh to solve comparison problems. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive using test and questionnaire instruments. Tests and questionnaires prepared based on HOTS indicators aim to analyze students' HOTS abilities. Then the results of tests, questionnaires, and interviews are combined to be analyzed to get conclusions. Based on research that has been done, it can be concluded that the ability of students to solve mathematical problems HOTS type in the comparison material is a good category, 19 students (57.57%) of 33 students. That is, some students have been able to do the thought process of creating, analyzing, and evaluating in solving problems.

Abstract

Teacher’s understanding of the use of information and communication technology needs to be considering the current era globalization where education in technologycal development. The results of this study indicate that the teacher’s understanding of the types of ICT is good, this was obtained 87,5% of teacher’s expressed understanding. Teacher’s understanding of the fuctions of various types of ICT already understood this was pbtaind 62,5% of teacher’s expressed understanding. The teacher’s understanding of how to use ICT is classified as good, it was obtained 62,5% of teacher’s expressed understanding. Teacher understanding of the  way to deliver material using ICT is classified as good it is obtained 50% of teacher expressed understanding. Teacher’s undestanding of the steps of using ICT is sufficient, this was obtained by 50% of teacher’s saying they understood enough. The teacher’s understanding of the positive impact of using ICT is already good, it was obtained 62,5% of teachers expressed undestanding. Teacher’s understanding of the negative impact of using ICT is good, it was obtained 62,5% of teachers expressed understanding. Teacher’s understanding of the advantages of using ICT is classified as good, this was obtained 87,5% of teacher’s expressed very understanding. Teacher’s understanding of the weaknesses of using ICT is classified as good, of teachers expresed understanding. While the teacher’s understanding of the procedures for delivering material using ICTs has not been classified as good..

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze whether the application of remedial teaching can be used to improve student learning outcomes on the subject of ionic and covalent bonds. The population in this study were all students of class XI SMAN Peukan Bada consisting of 2 classes with the use of first class as a sample, totaling 30 students. In this study, the data collection instrument in the form of multiple-choice tests that have been tested for validity and reliability and awarded to students after the study material and the ionic bonding and covalent bonding after remedial teaching (remedial test). The results of data analysis showed that the level of completeness of student learning outcomes in individuals with absorption of 70% is 30% while the level of data completeness outcomes after remedial teaching 61% that of the percentage is concluded that an increase in student learning outcomes from 30% to 61% , This result indicates that results for students after teaching remedial increased by 31%. Hypothesis testing is used to test the two parties namely the t-test with the following data thitung = 4.09 and ttubel = 1.699 at a significance level of 0.05 and db = 29. Thus concluded that "the implementation of remedial teaching can be used to improve student learning outcomes in the subject of ionic and covalent bonding in class XI SMAN Peukan Bada

Abstract

This article portrays the fundamental paradigm of language, English in this case, which has transformed from a traditional point of view to a functional one. Dealing with the mandate of the curriculum, both of primary education and tertiary education curriculum, that language learning does not rely simply on patterns, pronunciation, and vocabulary. However, language learning is a learning process by involving the effort in enabling students to strengthen four English skills, listening speaking reading and writing. Though, in this era, communicative competence has been the ultimate goal of language teaching orientation (Savignon, 2017). Changing the mindset of language is not just learning the rules, but also how to change with the mindset that learning language is to be able to actualize students and enable them to use language communicatively and contextually. This view is in line with the hermeneutics philosophical view. It sees language learning as being able to understand meaning and interpret meaning based on context and situation. Language teachers are expected to understand those differences through managing teaching learning process in traditional view and functional view.

Abstract

The sport of swimming is a sport which is performed in the water. In Aceh province, swimming is still not growing rapidly. Forward and backwards in the sport of swimming a lot of reasons that in the encounter as a minimal and tight clothing as well as a pool that still join between men and women raises controversial opinions and problems in the implementation of the sport of swimming. The pool is still a little difficult in still or can. Skimpy and tight clothing that does not fit the Islamic jurisprudence in Aceh. The purpose of the study is to know the perceptions of students against the implementation of sports swimming in terms of Islamic Sharia in Aceh province. The research methods included in the types of descriptive research. Samples taken were students of SMK, SMA and MAN. Data collection techniques with likert scale question form with the amount of grain as much as 56 grains. The analysis of the data by using a percentage of the research results. Based on research results in getting the perceptions of students need to be made of the pool as achievement, supporting sports achievements. Hope sports swimming can be a favorite sport in the province of Aceh. Swimsuit worn for swimming must comply with Islamic jurisprudence needs to be designed. It needs to be enforced separation of pools for swimmers of both men and women. Need for motivation against swimming sports to become one of the achievements that can bring the Province.  Results of the study the overall research retrieved from variables of students was 73% respond well to the sport of swimming. The results of the calculation of the appropriate pool sports statement against Islamic jurisprudence in aggregate can be 80% obtained very good.

Abstract

This research entitle the Role of Teachers in increasing the character value of discipline and honesty of students at SD Unggul Lampeunuerut on Desember, 27-29, 2017. The purpose of this study is to know the role of the teachers in improving the character value of discipline and honesty of students at SD Unggul Lampeunerut. The research method used is a qualitative approach with descriptive quantitative. The results of the study showed that 83% of the teachers did not agree and had an effort to improve the character value of discipline and honesty of the students while only 17% agreed to do so. In conclusion, the teachers have a very large role in the role of teachers in improving the character value of discipline and honesty of students at SD Unggul Lampeunerut

Abstract

Students who attend BIna Generasi Bangsa Junior High School come from different parental backgrounds, both from civil servants and farmers and even fishermen. The hypothesis is "there are differences in endurance of the pulmonary heart between students whose parents are civil servants and farmers / fishermen in Bina Generasi Bangsa Junior High School students. The research method is comparative research. The stratified random sampling sample consisted of 31 students whose parents were civil servants and 31 students whose parents were farmers / fishermen. The technique of collecting test data ran as far as 2.4 km. "T" test data processing technique. Based on the results of the study obtained the category of pulmonary endurance of students whose parents are employees with a percentage of 93.55% and the average is 11.04. Students whose parents are fishermen / farmers are in the medium category with a percentage of 100% with an average of 11.64. The results of data analysis of differences in endurance of the pulmonary heart obtained t-count of 0.55 while t-table at 95% confidence level of 1.70, it can be said t-count of 0.55 ≥ t-table 1.70 then the research hypothesis is rejected the truth. That there is no difference between heart endurance between students whose parents are civil servants and students whose parents are fishermen / farmers in SMP Bina Generasi Bangsa

Abstract

In Indonesia, English has been taught for many years ago to enable the students to be able to communicate in English effectively. Unfortunately, the results of English teaching and learning at senior high schools were far expectation. Therefore, as one of the efforts by the government is to keep changing curriculum hoping that it can provide better results. School Based Curriculum (SBC) has been implemented in Indonesia in the action of perfecting the competence-based curriculum. SBC gives a school a chance to develop teaching materials based on the school potentials, students’ needs and ability and the need of the society around the school.  SBC also focus on the process orientation rather than product orientation. SBC also expects integration of the material to be authentic or based on the real-life situation so the students know how the language works in real life context with the purpose that students can learn English better. However, the efficiency of developing and implementing SBC in most schools are very low because the tasks those need to be dealt with are very complex and difficult and in the reality, the schools have encountered a number of challenges in the process such as lack of capabilities and skills of teachers, lack of resources and material and not there is no sufficient fund.

Abstract

This research has aim to see the differences of learning achievement result by using lecture method and experimental method which applicated in redoks and electrochemistry discussions on students of SMA Negeri in Banda Aceh. In this research, the research used experimental method. As population is all of the students SMA Negeri Banda Aceh in class II Semester I 2008/2009 school year. Furthermore, as the sample of this research are SMA Negeri 1, SMA Negeri 2, and SMA Negeri 3. In addition, each of school taken two classes, that are the first class taught by using experimental method (experiment class), and the second class taught by using lecturer method (control class) and each class have 40 students. Thus, the total numbers of sampel in this research are 120 students in experiment class, and 120 students in control class. The instrument that used to know the students learning result is learning result test in redoks and electrochemistry discussions and it is multiple choice. Therefore, t-test of students learning result is used to examine the hypotheses both in experiment class and control class. The result of pretest that given are : the average of experiment class is 29,4 and for control class is 49,5. Moreover, the result of t-test both class are got t-count = 0,004 < t-table = 1,986 (α=0,005), in summary, there are no significant differences of result between experiment and control class. Furthemore, the result of posttest that given are : the average of the student experiment class is74,1, and for control class is 68,0. The t-test result of post-test for both classes are got t-count = 2,40 > t-table= 1,986 (α=0,05). Thus, there are significant differences of result between experiment and control class. It can be concluded that the student learning result of experiment class is higher than control class.
