Abstract

The translation of foreign literature has been a part of Indonesian literary life. Several foreign literary works including novels, films, plays, poems, comics, and short stories have been translated to Indonesian. Spirou et Fantasio comic is one of the French literary works translated and published by Elex Komputindo, Ltd. This article points out the Indonesian translation procedures of Spirou et Fantasio à New York comic. The translating of this comic reveals several things including borrowings, equivalence, impersonnel translation as idiomatic expressions, interjections and their translations, element omissions in translation, and punctuation alternations in translations.

Abstract

This study examined indirect refusal strategies in Japanese used by students. Data were taken from students of semester IV majoring in Japanese at Yapari School of Foreign Languages, Bandung of the 2010-2011 enrolement. Data were taken through WDCT (Written Discourse Completion Test). The findings of the research suggest that: 1) there were 7 indirect refusal strategies used by the respondents; 2) the most frequently used indirect refusal strategies were reasonings and expressions of regret in all contexts as indicated on WDCT; 3) the choice of strategies used was influenced by interlocutor; 4) the structures found in speech acts of indirect refusal strategies used by the respondents were structures of Bahasa Indonesia which were transfered into Japenese,and therefore, the use resulted in confusing Japanese.

Abstract

Cover story selalu menarik pembaca sebelum mereka membaca isinya. Cover story itu sendiri dapat dianggap sebagai sebuah gambar yang terhubung ke artikel tertentu di sampul majalah atau koran. Cover story yang digunakan dalam majalah atau koran memberitahu pembaca tentang pembahasan artikelnya dan mencerminkan isi yang dibahas. Dengan cover Story pembaca akan dengan mudah memahami informasi dalam konteks berita itu. Informasi dalam cover story dapat disampaikan dengan menggunakan gambar dan menggabungkan mereka dengan beberapa kata-kata, frasa atau bahkan kalimat. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan pendekatan pragmatik. Teori yang digunakan dalam menganalisis data adalah teori tindak tutur yang dikemukakan oleh Searle. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Metode ini sering disebut sebagai penelitian alami karena dilakukan dalam pengaturan alamiah yang berarti metode ini juga dapat diartikan sebagai data deskriptif yang diamati, lisan atau tertulis. Penulis telah menganalisa 4 (empat) klausa pada cover story sebuah website berita editorial. Alamat website tersebut adalah http://www.newsweekly.com.au/. Edisi cover story yang digunakan adalah edisi dari bulan Januari sampai Juni tahun 2014. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah (1) satu-satunya tindak komunikasi yang digunakan dalam empat (4) cover story adalah memberitahu (to tell), dan (2) tindak tutur yang digunakan adalah assertive atau representative.

Abstract

Kanyouku is a group of words (phrase) that has specific meaning (the meaning cannot betranslated word for word thereof). The term kanyouku cannot be translated directly into Bahasa Indonesia, but can still be predicted through the relation between idiomatic and lexical meaning of the words that form the phrase. This study was a qualitative study aiming at describing the relationship between lexical and idiomatic meaning in kanyouku using the following words: hana (nose), kuchi (mouth), mimi (ears), me (eyes), and shita (tongue). The findings of the research suggest that: kanyouku ‘hana ga takai’ has partial(tongue). The findings of the research (bbuubbuunn) and whole(tongue). The findings of the research suggest that: ( zzeenntataii) relationship as well as cause-effect relationship; kanyouku kuchi ga omoihas metonymic meaning extension due to cause-effect process; and kanyouku me o toosu, mimi ga itai, andshita o makuhave spatial and time relationship. Lexical and idiomatic meaning relationship in kanyouku was dominated by metonymic relations (relationship. Lexical and idiomatic meaning relationship metonymic relations (kanyu kanyu) in the forms of cause-effect, spatial and time, and part for whole relations.

Abstract

Artikel ini diajukan untuk memperkaya metode penelitian pada kajian pragmatis. Dengan memanfaatkan perkembangan teknologi dan kemajuan komunikasi, netnopragmatik diajukan sebagai sebuah pendekatan dalam menganalisis penggunaan bahasa dalam komunitas daring. Komunitas pada media sosial seperti Facebook dan Twitter, serta pesan instan seperti Skype dan WhatsApp dapat dijadikan objek penelitian dalam kajian pragmatis. Pendekatan ini tidak hanya menghemat waktu, data yang diperoleh melalui pendekatan ini juga lebih alami dibandingkan dengan data yang diperoleh melalui simulasi dan DCT. Peneliti netnopragmatik dapat menganalisis interaksi pada komunitas daring yang dilakukan melalui komunikasi bermedia komputer. Cabang-cabang ilmu pragmatik seperti tindak tutur, implikatur, dan kesantunan dapat dikaji melalui komunikasi bermedia komputer.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang kata-kata baru dalam istilah fashion Legging yang mengalami proses morfologis. Perkembangan dalam dunia fashion juga membuat terbentuknya istilah-istilah baru yang terbentuk dan digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Ketika kata-kata baru terbentuk, masing-masing kata tersebut memiliki arti yang baru pula. Dalam penelitian ini, kata-kata baru terbentuk dengan proses Blending. Proses Blending yaitu ketika satu kata digabungkan dengan satu kata lain untuk membentuk satu kata baru yang memiliki arti yang berbeda. Proses blending diikuti pula oleh etimologi dari setiap kata, karena ketika kata-kata digabungkan, masing-masing dari setiap kata tersebut memiliki makna yang berbeda dengan kata lainnya untuk membentuk kata baru yang membentuk makna baru. Proses blending juga diikuti oleh proses etimologi. Proses etimologi berfungsi untuk mengetahui makna dari setiap kata. Ketika dua kata atau lebih digabungkan, maka akan menghasilkan suatu kata baru yang berbeda makna. Oleh karena itu, dalam penelitian ini makna dari suatu kata dianalisis melalui proses etimologi agar bisa dengan mudah diucapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari

Abstract

This research is intented to gather empirical data concerning: (1) the development of interactif multimedia CD-ROM as a media in French language learning; and (2) the students perception in utilisation of interactif multimedia CD-ROM in French language learning. A qualitative and quantitative research approach were used to answer the problem stated in this research. Several tests, questionary, litterature study and interview were applied as an instrument and technic to gather those data. Based on the analysis of the data, we concluded that (1) all the subject proposed in the CD-ROM were arranged to answer the students and teachers needs; (2) both students and teacher were satisfied by using the CD-ROM multimedia interactif in the classroom.

Abstract

There is a lot of information that contain meanings expansion. Especially Wakamono Kotoba, Japanese language used by young people contains semantic expansion. Such words are usually not included in the existing dictionaries, making the meanings of these words diflicult to be recognized. However,Wakamono Kotoba often cannot be recognized as onesemantic word by morphological analysis.Used Wakamono Kotoba limited to certain groups of young people (teens in the community).Wakamono Kotoba is mainly classified into two groups: one expresses or evokes emotion and another does not. However, this classificationis sometimes not so clear semantically. For example, the word Yabai originally means dangerous, but young generations use it to mean great. Yabai is a direct example where the original negative emotion is changed to a positive emotion in the usage of Wakamono Kotoba
