Abstract

This study aims to produce a realistic e-module based on quality Sigil software that can be seen in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research is a research and development, while the development model used is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The instrument that will be used in this study are validation sheets, questionnaire student responses sheets, and test question. Data obtained from the study were then analyzed in terms of feasibility. The eligibility module, is allowed to be valid, effective and practical. In terms of  validity, the average score given by media experts was 3,41 with the criteria “valid” while the realistic experts gave an average score of 3,00 with the criteria “valid”, and the material expert gave an average score for the learning scheme of e,69 with “valid” criteria. Based on practicality, the score given by students gets an average score of 83% with the criteria “very practical”. The effectiveness of the product can be seen from the percentage of completeness of the test scores that is obtained by 90% of all test subjects.Keywords:    E-modules; Realistic Mathematics Education (RME); Circle; Sigil

Abstract

This study aims to determine the thinking process of students in solving geometric problems based on Van Hiele's theory in terms of gender. The subjects in this study were 6th grade VII students in one of the public MTs in Pangandaran Regency, which consisted of 3 male and 3 female students, each of whom was capable of high, medium and low. The method used is qualitative research. Data collection techniques were carried out by test and interview methods. The results showed that in terms of gender high-ability male students are at level 2 (informal deduction), male students are capable of being at level 1 (analysis), while low-ability male students are at level 0 (visualization). The female students with high and moderate abilities are at level 1 (analysis), and low-ability female students are at level 0 (visualization). Keywords: Thinking process, geometry, van Hiele's theory, gender

Abstract

The purpose of this classroom action research is to know about learning activity and to improve the learning result of class V student’s learning on GCD and LCM subject in SD Negeri 2 Bone-Bone through the application of the problem-solving approach. This research is carried out in the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Instruments used in the form of Tests, to measure the level of achievement of learning outcomes conducted by students and observation sheets, to determine the increase in student and teacher activity. The target of learning mastery is 75%. The result data showed that the improvement of learning outcomes is reflected from the achievement of KKM in the initial test of 36%, increasing in the first cycle to 72%, and increasing in the second cycle to 88%. There is an increase in student activity from the first cycle of 65% (active enough) to 90% (very active) in the second cycle. There is an increase in teacher activity from the first cycle of 71.11% (good) to 93.33% (excellent) in the second cycle. Based on the results of the study concluded that the application of problem-solving approach in learning can improve student learning outcomes and activities of students and teachers in learning mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to describe generally about the effects of using Trimino Mathematical Model of Cooperative Learning on the results of mathematics, especially for the first grade students of SDN Tarai Bangun. The method used is to analyze and interpret experiments clearly about the conditions that exist in the field. The data collection techniques used were direct observation of the experiment as the subject of research. The results of this study can be concluded that learning through trimino mathematical model cause differences improvement of students’ mathematics learning outcomes significantly between the experimental class and control class. The attitude of the students based on the scale of attitudes about learning initiative, set a goal of learning, motivation, behavior (self), find and utilize relevant learning resources, evaluate the process and outcomes of learning. This is indicated positively by the opinion of students towards learning mathematics using mathematical trimino media.

Abstract

This study aims to compare mathematical problem-solving ability among learners who learned with problem-based learning model (PBL) and problem-solving. The study also aims to determine the thinking process of learners in the problem-solving. The study was using an experimental method. The population was all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Kota Tasikmalaya. The samples were selected two classes by cluster random sampling, first class (VIII-E) was learned by using PBL model and second class (VIII-J) was learned by using problem-solving. Data collection techniques use mathematical problem-solving tests. The data were analyzed by t-test of two difference means. The study concludes that the mathematical problem-solving ability of learners who learned with PBL model better than that learned with a problem-solving model. The conceptual thinking process in the PBL class was owned by high-ability learners, while in the problem-solving class was owned by high and middle-ability learners. The semi-conceptual thinking process of the PBL class was owned by moderate and low-ability learners, while the problem-solving class was owned by moderate-ability learners. Computational thinking processes in PBL classes and problem-solving one were owned by low-ability learners.Keywords: problem-based learning (PBL), problem-solving, mathematical problem-solving ability, thinking process.

Abstract

This research is aimed at improving the ability of students’ mathematical understanding through REACT strategy. This research method is a quasi-experimental study with the non randomized study design pretest-posttest control group design. Samples were students of class X of one vocational school in Tasikmalaya. The instruments used were pretest and posttest ability of students’ mathematical understanding. The data were analyzed quantitatively. The results showed that: (1) students who obtain learning through REACT strategy had significantly better improvement than students who received conventional learning (2) Students who earn learning with REACT strategy shows there is a difference compared with students who received conventional learning to be reviewed on the level of high, medium, and low (3) students who earn learning with REACT strategy by category ability of students to the ability of students’ mathematical understanding is better than conventional learning. This means REACT strategy can improve comprehension.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out an overview of an innovation learning model in the form of the application of the Contextual Approach applied to the Scaffolding Learning Model. This innovation is a creativity that is carried out in classroom learning to create a combination of an approach and a learning model that facilitates students to explore their thinking skills, both high-level thinking and low-level thinking. This research is a descriptive research. The results obtained from this study are a syntax of the application of the Contextual Approach to the Scaffolding Learning Model that can be made an alternative in the implementation of learning by the instructors. The learning stages are: 1) Explaining learning material; 2) Grouping students according to their ZPD; 3) Provide learning tasks in the form of tiered questions related to learning material; 4) Encourage students to work and learn to solve problems independently in groups; 5) Providing assistance in the form of guidance, motivation, giving examples, keywords or other things that can lure students towards learning independence; 6) Direct students who have high ZPD to help students who have low ZPD; 7) Summing up lessons and giving assignments; 8) Summing up lessons and giving assignments and 9) Actual assessment.Keywords: Contextual Approach; Scaffolding Learning Model

Abstract

Mathematics is usually regarded as the hardest lesson by children and adults. It is seen students do not seem interested in mathematics, so students often make mistakes when they do exercises because they feel difficulty in doing it. The factors causing learning difficulties consist of two kinds, internal factors and external factors of students. Mistakes made by students need to be further analysed so that we get a picture of the weaknesses of students. The purpose of this study is knowing each type of error percentage of students in working on the material linear equation based on Bloom’s taxonomy and determine the level of difficulty of the error factors influence students. This research is a descriptive research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. This study was conducted in Technic Faculty, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo with research subjects class 2A. Data collection techniques in this study were done by using a test, interview techniques, and questionnaires technical. As for the analysis of the data referring to the model of Miles and Huberman which includes data reduction, a data display, drawing a conclusion. Testing the validity of the research result data was conducted by the credibility test, transferability test, dependability test, and confirmability test. Based on the results of data analysis can be concluded percentages of each type of error in the students working on the linear equation based bloom taxonomy is as follows: 1)The percentage of this type of error (PP-C1) is 10.71%. 2) The percentage of this type of error (PP-C2) is 17.86%. 3) The percentage of this type of error (PP-C3) amounted to 39.29%. 4) The percentage of this type of error (PP-C5) of 21.43%. 5) The percentage of this type of error (PP-C4) amounted to 28.57%. The level of difficulty factor effects in working problems of student’s mistake are for an internal factor which includes “very strong influence” classification is an indicator of intelligence and factor which include “strong influence” classification is an indicator of attitudes, interest, and motivation. As for external factor which includes “strong influence” is an indicator of teaching method.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyse the achievement of student learning independence through scaffolding application. This study was a quasi-experimental research with involving two classes using purposive sampling. The population in this study was the student of class VIII in one of the public junior high school in Tasikmalaya district involving two classes as the sample. The data collection technique used was non-test. The test instrument according to the indicator the ability while the non-test by questionnaire. The data analyse performance Method of Successive Interval. The research result showed that ability of the student who gets scaffolding learning is higher than the student who gets direct learning, the student learning independence of student who gets scaffolding learning is better than students who get direct learning, and the student learning independence of student who gets scaffolding is in the high category.

Abstract

The background of the reaseach is difficulty student to understanding about multiplication and division at whole number and the use of instructional media that matches the stage of development for elementary school student. Therefore selected math comic in learning multiplication and division of whole numbers for elementary school students, because comics are mostly readed by elementary school students. Thus the formulation of the problem is how comics can be used as a media of learning mathematics, and how it affects the understanding of multiplication and division concept in whole numbers to elementary school students. General research purpose was to describe the mathematical model of the comic can be used as media of mathematics learning, and knowing its impact on understanding of multiplication and division concept in whole numbers to elementary school students. The research is quasi experimental design type Nonequivalent Control Group with purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and tests. To analyze quantitative data, researcher use Microsoft Excel 2010 and SPSS 16.0. The result show that math comic media give positive influence in the understanding of multiplication and division concept in whole numbers other than conventional learning.
