Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cod liver oil (MHK) supplementation in the ration on the quality of native chicken spermatozoa. Eight native chickens are kept in individual cages which are given MHK treatment as much as 0.7% of the total ration. Two weeks of maintenance. Semen was collected before treatment and four weeks after treatment. The parameters observed were macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of fresh semen before and after treatment. The results showed there were no differences in semen volume, semen color, semen pH, semen consistency, spermatozoa motility, spermatozoa viability and spermatozoa abnormalities before and after treatment. However, mass movement and spermatozoa concentration decreased after MHK supplementation treatment. The conclusion of this study is MHK supplementation did not affect the general characteristics of semen with the exception of mass movement and concentration of native chicken spermatozoa.

Abstract

Eggs are a food source of poultry animal sources of animal protein that has a delicious taste, easy to digest and highly nutritious. The highest value of eggs is in the yolk, the yolk contains essential amino acids, minerals such as iron, phosphorus and a little calcium and vitamin B complex badly needed by the human body. The weakness of salted eggs is that they have perishable properties so they need to be preserved to maintain their quality. One method used to maintain the quality of salted eggs is the addition of deer fat so that it can improve the taste and have a long shelf life. This research was carried out using quantitative methods and laboratory testing for microbiological observations in a descriptive manner. The results of this study indicate that administration of different deer fat 0.3ml, 0.5ml, 0.7ml from each treatment during 2, 4 and 6 weeks storage. Provision of 0.7 ml deer fat in 4 weeks storage produced good quality in terms of color, texture and ash in salted eggs and no salmonella bacteria were found.

Abstract

Animal diseases that are quite detrimental are worm parasitic diseases, so there is a need for herbal treatments. One of the natural ingredients used as an anthelmintic is Mayana Leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides (L)). Mayana leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides (L)) also contain tannins. In the past few years, there have been developments related to the use of tannins as an anti-melting agent. This study is to determine the extent of Mayana leaf's ability (Solenostemon scutellarioides (L)) which is used as an anti-parasitic treatment in livestock. The data processing and analysis techniques used in this study are historical methods using primary and secondary sources as the object of research and testing of mayana leaf tannin (Solenostemon scutellarioides, L.). The variable observed is anthelmintic. Mayana leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides, L.) contain tannins, saponins, steroids, terpenoids, flavonoids and essential oils. The ability of tannins Mayana leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides, L.) can inhibit the growth of microorganisms or enzyme activity and damage the membrane. Worm membranes are damaged because tannins cause paralytic worms that eventually die. Giving Mayana leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides, L.) with 1.19% tannin content can be used as an anthelmintic for worm parasites

Abstract

Ducks are one type of waterfowl that has advantages, namely the stage of disease, fast growth and being able to digest high crude fiber. The purpose of this study is: The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence egg production and business development strategies for duck farming. The research method used was observation, questionnaire, interview with sampling of 50 respondents. Data were analyzed by tabulation and discussed in a descriptive manner. The analysis used descriptive analysis is a research method that takes a sample from the population and uses a questionnaire as a tool to collect data. Data analysis techniques using the Cobb Douglas function. The results showed that the production of duck eggs in Merauke Regency was still low and showed an increase in production from year to year. Factors of the production of the amount of feed and the number of livestock simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on the results of egg production partially. Ducks livestock development strategies in Merauke Regency include: (1) Increasing knowledge and skills of breeders regarding alternative feeding for ducks (azolla sp and onggok), (2) Utilizing existing potential (agricultural waste) as a source of feed, (3) Providing extension agents of good farming practices and good management, (4) Implement post-harvest management and management to produce good quality eggs.

Abstract

Research aims to know the quality of spermatozoa bangkok male in diluent in NaCl suplementation red fruit at a temperature ekuilibrasi 5oc. The material of which used in this research was semen bangkok male that which is taken by the use of males or the two females anglers upon a chicken a kind of macho . Long kept the temperature is 5oC 60 minutes with 3 repetitions . The ratio of the dilution semen with diluent 1: 10 . Dependent variable for which a observed promised to supply the volume of , the color of , pH , motility of mass , motility and viability sperm. This layout are complete random desing (CRD) and analysis variety of ( anova ). Research obtained 0,4 ± 0,033, white milk, ph ± 0, 6 and motions of masses of + +/ + + +. The results of the analysis statistics show that long save semen bangkok male 5oc with diluents at a temperature in suplementations red fruit for 60 minutes (P<0.01), However to protect a reduced rate and to motility of viability well. The motility of these 60 minute storage for P0= 8,3%; P18,1 % and P2 7,6% We can conclude that its motility and viability spermatozoa cocks bangkok decline normally along with long kept the 5oC Temperature.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the value of cooking losses in broiler meat with herbs feed of turmeric. The research was conducted at the Animal Husbandry Department, Pangkajene Islands State Agricultural Polytechnic Campus. The research design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a unidirectional pattern with 3 treatments and 4 replications. Each replication consisted of 8 chickens. The treatment arrangements were P0 = conventional feeding and drinking water (control); P1 = Mixing turmeric into feed; P2 = Mixing turmeric in drinking water. The maintenance stage is carried out for approximately 30 days, feed and drink are given ad libitum, and no vaccination program is carried out. Sampling was carried out at the age of approximately 30 days. A total of 12 chickens were taken randomly from each treatment and processed into carcass. In the test, the breast sample was weighed before and after cooking the meat, then the cooking losses were calculated by looking at the difference. The results of the analysis of variety showed that there was no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the value of meat cooking loss between treatments. Average cooking losses range from 2-4%. The sample of P1 treatment broiler meat had the best quality of carcass quality because it had the lowest cooking loss value. The addition of turmeric to broiler chicken feed can help improve carcass quality by absorbing more optimal nutrients from the meat.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding carrot juice on the spermatozoa quality of native chickens, as well as to determine the concentration of carrot juice which is good for maintaining the quality of native chicken spermatozoa during storage. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a nested pattern where the carrot extract concentrations used were 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% with 5 treatments and 5 replications. Parameters observed were motility, abnormalities, and longivitas spermatozoa during storage hour-0, 24, 48, 96, and 120 at a temperature of 5°C. The results of this study showed that sperm motility at 0 h 74.00 ± ± 2:30 14.74-96.00% and decreased to 1.60-13.40% at 120 hours of storage. Spermatozoa longivity 125.6-163.00 hours. The conclusion of this study is the addition of carrot juice with different concentrations has a significant effect on the quality of free-range chicken spermatozoa and the best concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% were used.

Abstract

Bitter melon (Momordica charantia) is a vine plant with fruits having oblong-shaped fruits which have distinct warty exterior and bitter taste. The fruits are known to have an antibiotic benefit. This study was aimed at assessing the effects of the inclusion of bitter melon fruit extract in drink water on carcass and giblet percentages of quails. The study was conducted at the Trial Farm of Department of Animal Science, Djuanda University, Bogor, in February to March 2019. One-hundred female quails aged 37 days were used. The birds were allocated to 20 units of pens and each pen was occupied by 5 birds. A completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 4 replicates was used. Treatments consisted of 0% bitter melon fruit extract (R0, control), 2.5% bitter melon fruit extract (R1), 5.0% bitter melon fruit extract (R2), 7.5% bitter melon fruit extract (R3), and 10.0% bitter melon fruit extract (R4). Data were subjected to an analysis of variance (Anova) and a Duncan test. Measurements were taken on live weight, carcass weight, gizzard weight, liver weight, and heart weight. Results showed that treatments did not give any significant effects on carcass and giblet percentages. It was suggested that for future studies, nutrient content analysis on bitter melon be conducted beforehand.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted to see the differences in the length and weight of digestive tract that given turmeric herbs through feed and drinking water. The chickens used were 96 DOC Cobb strains, 8 chickens for each experimental unit. This study used a randomized design with 3 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment arrangements were: T0 = basal feed, T1 = basal feed + 2% turmeric from the amount of feed consumption and T2 = basal feed + 2% turmeric from the amount of drinking water consumption. The parameters observed in this study were the length and weight of of digestive tract the namely the small intestine, large intestine, appendix and bile. Length and weight of the digestive tract (small intestine, large intestine, gizzard), (P <0.05) by offering a feed containing turmeric herbs. The effect of the treatment was not seen on the parameters of length and weight of broiler Cobb strain. The conclusion of this study was that giving turmeric through feed and drinking water at a level of 2% increased the length and weight of the digestive tract.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of spermatozoa X and Y from semen of domestic goat which separated with various concentration of percoll. The metode of this study is experimental laboratory. The treatment consist of several concentration of percoll and diluter of percoll. R1 treated by 30% percoll : 70% diluter, R2 treated by 40% percoll : 70% diluter, R3 treated by 50% percoll : 70% diluter, and R4 treated by 60% percoll : 70% diluter. Experimental disign used in this experimental was RCBD (Randomize Complete Block Disain). Each treatment was replicated six times with the size of circle scrotum as the block. Result showed that the treatment R1 for X and Ybearing sperm, sperm motility, was 77,50 ± 5,00 and 70,00 ± 14,14, sperm abnormality was 10,50 ± 1,52 and 8,91 ± 1,31. The treatment R2 for X and Y-bearing sperm, sperm motility and sperm abnormality was 75,00 ± 5,77, and 75,00 ± 5,77, abnormality was 10,44 ± 1,09 and 11,4 ± 1,47. The treatment R3 for X and Y-bearing sperm, sperm motility was and sperm abnormality was 67,5 ± 5,00 and 62,50 ± 5,00, abnormality was 8,07 ± 1,40 and 9,37 ± 1,35. The treatment R4 for X and Y-bearing sperm, sperm motility, and sperm abnormality was 72,50 ± 9,57 and 60,00 ± 8,16, abnormality was 10,87 ± 2,84 and 9,83 ± 2,20. Sperm separation with the different concentration of percoll were hightly significant (P < 0.01) to identify spermatozoa X and Y chromosome, but there was no significantly different (P > 0.05) in the sperm motility and sperm abnormality. It is concluded that semen selected by variouse concentration of percoll and diluter increased the presentage of X and Y-bearing sperm. However motility and abnormality of X and Y-bearing sperm were not affected by the treatment.
