Abstract

The congregation of Gereja Kristen Jawi Wetan (GKJW) in Jember is the research subject, and an integral part of that divorce rate is rising. The teaching of the Christian faith is not to be divorced, but divorce occurs. In the 1970s, there were no divorces; however, in the 2000s, divorce befell the GKJW Christian family in Jember. The high divorce of church members in Jember in the 2000s became a challenge to Church service. The data from Jember Regency Population and Civil Registration Office aligns with the divorce in GKJW Congregations in Jember. What factors cause divorce in the GKJW Church in all of Jember District? Social supports, administrative requirements, and religious background are the main factors driving divorce. While supporting factors, husband and wife accountability, PIL or WIL, family conflicts, and communication are the stimulants of divorce. These social facts are intertwined in church service in a societal context. Institutionally or personally, church servants should prepare themselves and the “tools” of the services needed to prepare for possible problems.

Currently, we are in a period of popular culture. The popular culture emphasizes pragmatic attitudes and is controlled by capitalism disguised. Abstract

This article examines Paul's independence as a Gospel Preacher who lives as an entrepreneur. The Apostle Paul, an apostle for Gentiles, has particular expertise in making tents - used as a support for funding - to help continue the preaching of the gospel. He does not want to burden the congregation he serves by funding the preaching of the gospel. His expertise is used as much as possible to sustain it in service. As an apostle, he is not ashamed to be forthright about what he is doing as a tent maker. And its primary purpose is the expertise to make tents used as a bridge for preaching the gospel. Thus there are at least two essential things obtained from this topic: first, the independence of funds as an evangelist, and second, expertise as a bridge of evangelism. The method of research conducted is qualitative. The study carries out a theological approach through biblical studies. In this research, the author will describe Paul as an entrepreneur and an entrepreneur of evangelistic bridges. The findings in this study showed that gospel preachers must emulate Paul, who made his expertise a pillar of service so that it did not burden the congregation served. The church must learn to accept the fact that there are pastors who live as entrepreneurs.

Abstract

The current phenomenon of child delinquency leads to moral degradation. Children are no longer victims of violence but also become perpetrators. The emergence of cases of destruction, abuse, rape, and even murder carried out by children, shows the weakness of moral education in Indonesia. Two main factors influence, namely external and internal. There must be synergy between parents, teachers, and the community to educate children. In addition to moral education in the family and society, school becomes a parent's partner in educating and instilling moral values in children in school. In this case, the teacher has a significant role in shaping the child into a moral person. Especially in this case, Christian teachers (Christian teachers) need to be aware of children's needs for moral values because these values align with noble Christian values. This research is here to help Christian teachers by offering steps to teach moral values to children in school. The author used the descriptive method so that readers could see a picture of the research results more closely. The efforts to overcome children's moral degradation in school include creating a moral community, designing shared moral discipline, upholding moral discipline, teaching conflict resolution, and guiding students.

Abstract

This study is an effort to explore a more concrete and holistic understanding related to the existence and woman's role in Batak society. In reality, Batak has several terms which refer to the strong existence of women in Batak society. However, since the lineage is drawn from the male line, as is the case in a patriarchal culture, the strategic roles of women themselves often become neglected. This study conducted a constructive critical study to position women’s leadership in the context of the Batak community. It began by describing the actual conditions of women in the context of the Batak community. Furthermore, a constructive critical study was carried out by looking at religious literature and myth. The use of myths as study material is usually done in the study of the Sciences of Religions because people believe that myths contain teachings about the moral of a society, which are accepted and lived as teaching in daily life. Through that, things can also be found to be learning for the future. The study of the Sciences of Religion also uses the Sociology of Religion to discuss humanity and religion. Theological reflection on specific texts in the Bible is carried out with a new perspective. This way is done to raise the strength of women. Of course, this study has already been finished by a deep and prolonged study, so what is presented here is the result of the researcher's recommendations only.

Abstract

After the 2019 National Election in Indonesia, which still left problems both essentialism and mechanism, this nation has been materially and immaterially drained. Later, the political elites who benefit the situation for their interest have been very annoying and disturbing. Therefore, the harmony among the religious people in Indonesia is triggered by differences in political views, even having to reduce religious narratives and diction which are then forced even if they are contrary to human values. As a result, the discourse of social harmony is initiated by the community figures through no-theme participation; it becomes a formula that must be immediately implemented in such way that the unity of the nation might be restored after having been torn apart by the different political view. The discourse of social harmony might be attached to the Christian perspective that offers a completely new idea in accordance to the context of the problems in Indonesia. Through the literacy method, the form of re-reading and re-checking the diction and the narration have been formulated and provided new meaning or discourse into the social harmony of the digital-era Indonesian people altogether. It might be concluded that holding no-theme participation with literacy skills mastery is important to conduct among the digital-era Indonesian people since the digital era itself might be considered as one of the contributing factors to the present problems (such as hoax, deception and hate speech) that have so widely spread that they start to erode the unity and the integrity of Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper examines two things, which is Jesus' statement about Himself in the Gospel of John and a statement that begins with: "I ..." (Greek: εγω ειμι = ego eimi). These two statements come out of the phrase "I am the door" and "I am the good shepherd." Theologically, especially in Christology, this emphasizes His personality as God, who can be an example of leadership in the church. The purpose is to describe Jesus' declaration that He is the door and the Good Shepherd in John 10: 1-18 and its implications for the ministers as church leaders. The methodology in this research is descriptive analysis. As a result, the two statements of Jesus in John 10: 1-18 reflect the example of Jesus as the Good Shepherd.

Abstract

Churches in Indonesia live in ethnical and cultural diversity. We can find much local wisdom which lately continues to preserve. But not all churches want to receive local wisdom because there is an opinion that local culture is contrary to the Christian faith. Therefore in this paper, I want to invite the churches in Indonesia to open space for local wisdom. My effort is encouraging the churches to look at the figure of Jesus, who popularized the local wisdom called the tradition of Theos Patros. Theos Patros tradition is the oldest tradition of the nation of Israel and has been known since the ancestors' era but is no longer popular in the time of Jesus. But Jesus re-popularized the tradition because that tradition has a high noble value in line with the emphasis of the Gospel of Matthew.
