Abstract

This article describes the various views of Christian ethicists about the concept of responsibility. The paper attempts to better understand the meaning of responsibility for Christians during the pandemic covid 19, particularly in carrying out health protocols. It is said that responsibility is relevant to human ethics, moral life, and actions revealed through His love. When the notion of responsibility is only associated with a mere duty ethic, it will be trapped in consequentialism. Responsibility in Christian ethics is the manifestation of good deeds based on the grace of faith. This is the essence of the Christian life. Responsibility in Christianity reflects loving God and neighbor, not just the right or wrong attitude, because this action does not affect the promise of salvation. From the theological perspective, responsibility is considered retrospective responsibility for past actions and the consequences before God.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on life, including the life of the church. The church requires the congregation to worship at home, not in the church building. This change in places of worship was followed by Christian families, particularly in the GMIT Talenalain congregation, although there were differences of opinion. Even though they worship at home, they miss worship in the church building. The theological understanding of home churches influences the difference in views about places of worship during the Covid-19 pandemic. This paper aims to show fluid or practical-operative ecclesiological concepts for the congregation during this pandemic. The extent to which the Christian family lives the concept of perichoresis in implementing the home church. This research uses a case study qualitative research method. The results show that the family interprets the home church as a communion of perichoresis Trinitarian praxis because it contains perichoretic values.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the congregation's understanding of the concept of marriage and to see the potential for divorce. The method used is a survey using a questionnaire. The research subjects were the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Putra Agung Congregation Jl. Karang Asem IV No. 6 Surabaya. The selected respondents were adult congregations, totalling 177 people. The sampling technique used was a quota sampling of 50% of the total adult congregations. The data were analyzed by making claims on the tendency of respondents' answers. The results show that the congregation's understanding of marriage is by Christian teachings, which highly respect marriage and reject divorce. Abstract

This research is about Jesus' multicultural mission to Canaanite women based on Matthew 15:21-28. This study examines the nature and principles of the task carried out by Jesus to the Canaanite women. Interestingly, the church often considers Jesus' mission exclusively for the Jews. However, this case shows that the mission was opened to non-Jewish nations. By using qualitative research methods, this study obtained several conclusions. First, based on the description of the interpretation of Matthew 15:21-28 and taking into account the context and background of the Canaanite woman, it is clear that Jesus' ministry or mission to Canaanite women is clear is a multicultural mission. Second, Jesus' ministry to Canaanite women (Matt. 15:21-28) qualifies as a multicultural mission because it has fulfilled all theologies that are part of multicultural theology, such as relational, social, operational, moral, and transformational theology. Third, Jesus' ministry to the Canaanite woman (Matt. 15:21-28) fulfills every aspect of the Christocentric dimension in the construction of multicultural theology.

Abstract

This study aims to understand John 14:1-14 by using the social-scientific exegetical method. The research prioritizes a historical review and explanation of historical writings on the Way and the Truth and Life from the Old Testament (OT) to New Testament (NT) times. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life in the face of today's postmodern relativism. The results of the study conclude that "Jesus is life (eternal)" and "Jesus is the truth," where the Church and the people of Jesus (the Church) can dialogue and apply the relative truth in love, justice, and social liberation.
