Abstract

Abstract This study was conducted to create and validate the instruments test of prechemistry teacher’s knowledge about health and safety work in laboratory. This instrument will be used to obtain information about prechemistry teacher’s knowledge about health and safety work in laboratory. This research has been conducted using Research and Development (R & D) design that was developed by adopting 4D development model consisting of 4 stages: define, design, develop and dissemination. However, this research only reached the develop stage. Data analysis was performed to test the validity and reliability of the tests. Data processing was performed using IBM-SPSS 20 software. The results of this study showed that the test was valid and was feasible to implement based on the CVI value of 0.847. The reliability test of prechemistry teacher’s knowledge about health and safety work in laboratory was obtained at 0.766, its mean that the reliability of the tests was classified as in high category. Thus this instrument can be used to determine the level of prechemistry teacher’s knowledge about health and safety work in laboratory. Although there are some parts of the instrument need to be revised again. Keywords : instrument, healthy and safety work, laboratory, reliability, validity

Abstract

Abstract Mistakes in solving math problems are common for students. Most teachers often do not pay attention to the types of mistakes made by students. The types of mistakes made by students can be one of the successful benchmarks of mathematics. This study aims to describe the types of problems of students in solving mathematics problems at Al-Kindi Middle School Pekanbaru. The research method used is descriptive research with a form of qualitative research. Data collection techniques used are tests and interview, data analysis techniques used descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Subjects in the study were 26 students and objects that answered tangent questions circle 5 questions. Based on the results of data analysis it can be concluded: students make fact errors 17%, concept errors 34%, principle errors 39% and operating errors 10%. The biggest type of error is a mistake in principle and concept. The implication is that teachers need to understand the concepts and principles when teaching, so the level of errors in solving problems is low. and to the next researchers, to be able to carry out further in-depth research to improve the quality of mathematics education in schools related to students' mistakes in solving tangent circle material questions. Abstract

This research was instigated by the low of learning media integrating with the other sciences. It aimed at designing a print mediaintegrating chemistry science with other sciences on Chemistry subject, then it would be tested its validity by the experts of media and material and its practicality to Chemistry subject teachers, and it would be tested to the students. In this research, Chemistry instructional media in the form of Testing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) basedtextbook was designed by using Microsoft Word software. The final product result was a valid instructional media. It was a Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall modification model, and it was administered at State Senior High School Plus Riau Province. Techniques of collecting the data were interview, questionnaire, and documentation. STEM based textbook that was designed gained 96.1% validity percentage, and it meant that the textbook was stated very valid. The percentage of textbook practicality was 90.45%, it was stated very practical and the textbook got good student response that its percentage was 89.8%. Based on these findings, it could be concluded that Chemistry instructional media in the form of STEM based textbook on Acid Base lesson had been valid, practical, able to get good student responses.

Abstract

This research was instigated by unavailability of independent learning resource in the form of Android based instructional media at the school. This research aimed at knowing the validity and practicality levels of Android based instructional media that was valid and practical on Colloid lesson. It was Research and Development (R&D) with 4D development model. The subjects of this research were material and media experts, Chemistry subject teachers, 10 students at the eleventh grade of APHP 1. The object was Android based instructional media on Colloid lesson. The collected data were primary—the data were obtained directly from a questionnaire. Instruments of collecting the data were the questionnaires of validity test, practicality test, and student response. The obtained data then were analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The developed instructional media was tested, its validity level was 95.35% and it was on very valid category, its practicality level was 86.36% and it was on very practical category, and student response was 92.14% and it was on very practical category. Based on these results, it could be identified that Android based instructional media was appropriate and practical to be a learning resource at a school.

Abstract

This research was instigated by the lack of available teaching material that could help students in the learning process, and the unavailability of using Islamic integrated student workbook. This research aimed at knowing the levels of validity and practicality of Islamic integrated student workbook on Chemical Element lesson. It was a Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall model. It was administered at State Senior High School 1 Keritang. The subjects of this research were student workbook media design experts, learning material experts, religious material experts, Chemistry subject teachers, and the students. The object was Islamic integrated student workbook on Chemical Element lesson. The obtained data were the data obtained directly from questionnaire. The instruments of collecting the data were validity and practicality test questionnaires. The obtained data then were analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The developed student workbook was tested, its validity percentage was 84% (very valid) and its practicality percentage was 79.25% (practical). Based on these results, it could be concluded that Islamic integrated student workbook on Chemical Element lesson was valid and practical, so it could be done a limited test.

Abstract

This research aimed at knowing whether the use of TGT (Teams Games Tournament) cooperative learning model completed with Power Point media resulted better student learning achievement than the use of TGT cooperative learning model on Atomic Structure and Periodic System of the Elements lesson at the tenth grade of State Islamic Senior High School 4 Kampar in the Academic Year of 2017/2018. This research was Quasi-experiment with pretest and posttest design conducted in two classes—the first experimental group taught by using TGT cooperative learning model completed with Power Point media and the second experimental group taught by using TGT cooperative learning model. Simple random sampling technique was used in this research. The techniques of collecting the data were interview, preliminary data test that was homogeneity test, final data tests that were pretest and posttest, and documentation that was used to strengthen the obtained data. The research findings showed that posttest mean score of the first experimental group was 79 and the second group was 76,25. Final data analysis was using t-test, so it was obtained that tobserved was 2.21 and ttable was 2.02 at 5% significant level. tobserved was higher than ttable, so H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. It meant that there was an effect of implementing TGT cooperative learning model completed with Power Point media toward student learning achievement on Atomic Structure and Periodic System of the Elements lesson at State Islamic Senior High School 4 Kampar, and the coefficient of effect was 11.38%.

Abstract

This research was instigated by the lack of variative learning media in learning process. This research aimed at knowing the level of validity and practicality of Powtoon animation media on Element periodic system lesson. It was a Research and Development with 4-D (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate) model. It was conducted at State Senior High School 09 Pekanbaru. The subject of this research were the expert of powtoon animation video design, learning lesson expert, chemistry teachers, and students at State Senior High School 09 Pekanbaru. The Object of this research were Powtoon animation video on element periodic system. It was primier data that was obtained from the questionnaire. Questionnaire of validity test and questionnaire of practicality test were the instruments of collecting the data. Data was analyzed by using analysis of descriptive and quantitative descriptive techniques. The Powtoon animation video media was tested with the percentage 88.35% (Very valid) and practice 86.54% (Very practice). From the result, it could be concluded that Powtoon animation video media on Element priodic system lesson was valid and practice and appropriate to be as an additional media in learning process

Abstract

This research aimed at analyzing student critical thinking skill using practical work method on Thermochemistry lesson. It was conducted at the first semester of the eleventh grade of Islamic Senior High School of Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru in the Academic Year of 2018/2019. It was using descriptive method and it was pre-experiment with one shot case study design directing to get the information about critical thinking skill appeared, to see student critical thinking skill that could be developed through practical work method on Thermochemistry lesson. The subjects of this research were the eleventh-grade students at the first semester in the Academic Year of 2018/2019. Purposive sampling technique was used in this research, and it was obtained a class comprising 20 students, and they were divided into 4 groups. Observation, interview, and documentation were the techniques of collecting the data. Final data analysis of observation sheet showed student critical thinking skill that the total percentage was 77.09% and it was on good category.

Abstract

Nanocellulose is a new type of material that is charavterized by an increase in cristalinity, surface area, increased dispersion, and biodegradation. One of ingredient that has not widely used and can be used as a source of nano cellulose, which is red onion skin. Red onion skin is part of the plant as a source of natural cellulose. The purpose of this research is to find out the extraction of nano cellulose from the red onion skin and characteristics of nano cellulose from the red onion skin. The research methods include lignin delignification steps, sample extraction, sample preparation, and characterization tests with XRD and SEM analysis techniques. The results obtained in the form nano cellulose powder with crystal size of 12,615 nm and morphology of nano cellulose from red onion skin which appear to be beum all fibers cellulose is defibrillated to fibrils because some cellulose fibers are still united to form bundle. The conclusion obtained is the synthesis of nano cellulose from the red onion skin done by delignification of cellulose from red onion skin, cellulose extraction, and characterization tests with XRD and SEM analysis techniques. Delignification produces red onion skin without blackish brown lignin, cellulose exraction will produce yellowish residue which will then be hydrolyzed and characterized using XRD and SEM analysis techniques.

Abstract

This research was instigated by Chemistry subject at Senior High School of YLPI Pekanbaru that was dominated by discussion, question, and answer methods. These methods did not train student ability in the inquiry, it was proven by the low score of student science process skill on Chemical Equilibrium lesson. This research aimed at knowing the effectiveness of Problem Based Learning model toward student science process skill on Chemical Equilibrium lesson. Quasi-experimental method was used in this research with pretest posttest control group design. The samples were the eleventh-grade students of Natural Science 1 as the experimental group and the students of Natural Science 2 as the control group, and each class had 20 students. Test and observation sheet were the instruments of this research. The data of science process skill test were analyzed by using statistical test and to test the hypothesis was using t-test. The calculation result data of the mean difference of both classes showed that the score of tobserved was 8.66 and ttable was 1.69 at 0.05 significant level, so tobserved was higher than ttable. It showed that Alternative hypothesis was accepted, it meant that Problem Based Learning model was effective to be used toward student science process skill on Chemical Equilibrium lesson, and the effectiveness percentage score was 75%.
