Abstract

This study was conducted to create and validate the instruments test of prechemistry teacher’s knowledge about health and safety work in laboratory. This instrument will be used to obtain information about prechemistry teacher’s knowledge about health and safety work in laboratory. This research has been conducted using Research and Development (R & D) design that was developed by adopting 4D development model consisting of 4 stages: define, design, develop and dissemination. However, this research only reached the develop stage. Data analysis was performed to test the validity and reliability of the tests. Data processing was performed using IBM-SPSS 20 software. The results of this study showed that the test was valid and was feasible to implement based on the CVI value of 0.847. The reliability test of prechemistry teacher’s knowledge about health and safety work in laboratory was obtained at 0.766, its mean that the reliability of the tests was classified as in high category. Thus this instrument can be used to determine the level of prechemistry teacher’s knowledge about health and safety work in laboratory. Although there are some parts of the instrument need to be revised again. Keywords : instrument, healthy and safety work, laboratory, reliability, validity

Abstract

This research was instigated by the lack of student interest in reading books, so it was needed amedia such a tutorial video that could help students understand the lesson. This research aimed atdesigning a valid tutorial video with Wondershare Filmora software on Acid Base lesson based onvalidation by the experts of material and media, and the practicality test by teachers and students.It was Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall development model. The steps in thisresearch were 1) researching and collecting information, 2) planning, 3) developing the initialform of the product, and 4) preliminary field testing, 5) revising the product. Preliminary fieldtesting was conducted at the tenth-grade students of Natural Science Ikhwan of Islamic IntegratedSenior High School of Al-Fityah Pekanbaru. The validation result by the experts of media andmaterial was 91.25% and it was on very valid criterion. The result of teacher practicality test was95.13%, and it was on very practical category. The result of student practicality test was 82.7%,and it was on very practical category.

Abstract

Abstract This research aimed at knowing whether there was a correlation between students’ learning style and their learning achievement. It was a correlational research. Collecting the data was done through learning style questionnaire, cognitive learning achievement test, and documentation. The subjects of this research were the students at Senior High School of Tri Bhakti Pekanbaru, and the object was the correlation between students’ learning style and their learning achievement on Chemical Equilibrium lesson. The samples were the eleventh-grade students of Natural Science that were 40 students. Total sampling technique was used in this research. The data were processed and analyzed by using Pearson product moment correlational test formula. Based on the research findings and data analyses, Sig. (2-tailed) score between students’ learning style and their learning achievement was 0.001 and it was lower than 0.05 (0.001<0.05), it meant that there was a positive correlation between students’ learning style and their learning achievement. The score of robserved of the correlation between students’ learning style and their learning achievement was 0.498 and it was higher than rtable 0.312 at 5% significant level (0.498>0.312), so it could be concluded that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected (there was a correlation between students’ learning style and their learning achievement). The majority of the students had visual learning style type with 58% percentage, the percentage of students having auditory learning style was 27%, and the percentage of students having kinesthetic learning style was 15%. If these results were interpreted to the guideline table, the score 0.498 was between 0.40 and 0.70, and it meant that the correlation between students’ learning style and their learning achievement was medium or enough.

Abstract

This research aimed at knowing whether there was or not student misconception and its percentage on acid base using Four-Tier diagnostic test materials. The acid base material is one of the chemistry materials that was always misconceiving. This research was a descriptive qualitative. Purposive sampling technique was used for obtaining the sample. The subject of this research was the XI grade of science students of senior high school PGRI Pekanbaru. Observation, FourTier diagnostic tests, interview and documentation techniques were used for collecting the data. The findings of this research showed that there was misconception on acid base material (55%). The misconception happened on all concepts, acid base theoretical concept was 56%, acid base indicator was 53%, acid base strength was 53%, the ionization constant of acids bases (ka/kb) were 70%, pH solution calculation was 50% and pH concept in environment was 54%. The average percentage of student understanding concept was in class XI grade of science students of senior high school PGRI Pekanbaru on acid-base material was 11% students understand the concept, 55% of student experience misconceptions with moderate criteria, 33% of student do not understand the concept, and 1% of student have an Error.

Abstract

It was a quasi-experimental research with pretest and posttest design, and it was conducted to two classes—experimental and control groups. This research was instigated by the low of student chemistry learning achievement at the eleventh grade of Natural Science of State Senior High School 5 Pekanbaru. This research aimed at knowing the effect of implementing Guided Inquiry learning model with module toward student learning achievement on Reaction Rate lesson at the eleventh grade of Natural Science of State Senior High School 5 Pekanbaru. The samples were two the eleventh-grade classes of Natural Science having the same homogeneity level. The eleventh-grade students of Natural Science 5 were the experimental group and the students of Natural Science 2 were the control group. Simple random sampling technique was used in this research. The techniques of collecting the data were interview, preliminary data test that was homogeneity test, final data tests that were pretest and posttest, and documentation. The analysis results showed that the posttest mean score of the experimental group was 85.63 and the control group was 78.75. Final data analysis that t-test was used showed that the score of t​observed 3.08 was higher than t​table 2.00 at 5% significant level, so H​0 was rejected and H​a was accepted. It meant that there was an effect of implementing Guided Inquiry learning model with module toward student learning achievement on Reaction Rate lesson at the eleventh grade of Natural Science of State Senior High School 5 Pekanbaru, and the coefficient of effect was 14%

Abstract

This research aimed at knowing the accomplishment of seven indicators of student science process skill after being taught by using Project Based Learning model on Electrolyte and non-Electrolyte Solution lesson. This research was conducted to the tenth-grade students of TLM 2 at Vocational High School of Abdurrab Pekanbaru in the Academic Year of 2019/2020 on Electrolyte and non-Electrolyte Solution lesson. It was a descriptive research. The design of this research was the one shoot case study. Purposive sampling technique was used in this research, and 20 students were the samples. The instruments were essay test and observation sheet. The data analysis result showed that student science process skill after being taught by using Project Based Learning model generally accomplished good category. The highest indicator of student science process skill accomplished by students was in the indicator of communication with 85% percentage based on the test and 90% based on observation sheet.

Abstract

Vitamin C is one of the vitamins that the body needs to increase immunity in warding off all forms of disease. One of the fruits that contain vitamin C is srikaya fruit. Srikaya fruit is a plant belonging to the genus Annona originating from the tropics. Srikaya fruit is analyzed for its vitamin C content in order to increase the immunity of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used is a laboratory experiment with the iodometric method. The result is that srikaya fruit contains a fairly high amount of vitamin C, with the average vitamin C levels in the srikaya fruit sample being 2.58%, 2.503% and 2.66%, respectively, while the average vitamin C content in the srikaya fruit sample is 2.581%. And during this pandemic, we should consume a lot of food and fruit with vitamin C to increase the body's immunity, so that it can be developed to the next stage of further and more effective research.

Abstract

Basil is known to contain chemical flavonoids, namely orientin and vicenin where these two compounds can protect the body from the effects of radiation.The purpose of this study was to determine the toxicity of the ethanol extract of basil leaves (Ocimum Scantum Linn). Artemia salina Leach larvae using the Brine Shrimp lethality Test (BSLT) method. This study used 3 concentrations, each of which was carried out in triples. The concentrations are 1000 ppm, 100 ppm, 10 ppm. 90 Artemia salina Leach larvae were used. Then observations were made for 24 hours. Then counted the number of shrimp larvae that died after 24 hours. The results were calculated by probit analysis and calculated LC50, obtained LC50 = 21.0523 ppm. So it can be concluded that basil leaves have toxic potential. Because the value of LC50 < 1000 ppm.

Abstract

This research was instigated by the development of science and technology encouraging efforts to make reforms in the use of technology results in the learning process. Thus, a design and test were designed for e-magazine teaching material with Dilemmas Stories approach in this research on Electrolyte and non-Electrolyte Solution lesson. It was Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall procedure design, and it was administered at Senior High School of Plus Bina Bangsa Pekanbaru. The subjects of this research were the experts of media and material, the practicality test experts that were teachers, and students of Senior High School of Plus Bina Bangsa Pekanbaru. The object was e-magazine learning media with Dilemmas Stories approach as a learning source on Electrolyte and non-Electrolyte Solution lesson. The data collected in this research were in the forms of validation questionnaire and response questionnaire. The data obtained then were analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. E-magazine developed was tested very valid with the percentage 86.25% by the experts of media and material, the practicality assessment was 93.26% by Chemistry subject teacher, and students gave good responses with the percentage 70%. Based on these results, it could be concluded that e-magazine with Dilemmas Stories approach as a learning source on Electrolyte and non- Electrolyte Solution lesson was valid and good.

Abstract

The limited information of elementary school teachers’ obstacles in implementing scientific instruction has affected on the teacher training curriculum development that supports curriculum 2013 implementation. The aim research is to get information about elementary school teachers’ obstacles in implementing scientific instruction. The research method is descriptive with questioner and interview data collection. The sample is elementary school teachers under LPMP Kalimantan Selatan couched of 3 districts. The result showed 95% teachers have obstacles to guide students in formulating observation based questions and 97% teachers have obstacles to guide students in using reasoning. The consequences is to developing teacher training curriculum that focus on improving teacher skills in guiding students to formulate observation based question and to develop reasoning skills.
