Abstract

The goal of research are: (1) To determine the effect of the use of the concept of the approach through the method of direct instruction to students' cognitive abilities and Mathematics (2) Looking for an alternative solution for effective learning. This research is using a class action research using three cycles. Each cycle consists of four phases: planing, action and observation, reflection, and revision. The subject of this research is a Class XI student of PMS 1 SMK Lumajang in 2012/2013. Data obtained in the form of a test results, observation sheet teaching and learning activities. Based on the analysis of the results of research and discussion can be drawn a conclusion that the Direct Instruction Lesson increase student performance that can be shown with the performance appraisal. Student achievement can be increased in Learning Direct Instruction. Increased learning achievement indicated by the results of student learning and the average value of the class.Keywords: Direct Instruction, academic achievement and student activity.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the difference between students’ mathematic learning outcomes in junior high scholl between extrovert and introvert personality in mathematic linear equation material. The type of the research is experimental research with quantitative approach. The subject of this research is the eight grade students in junior high school who have extrovert and introvert personality. The data collecting methods are documentation and questionnaire. The results of the research are the value of t test = 5.082 and t table = 2.045 it’s mean that t tes > t table so Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Based on the data findings, it can be concluded that there is different of students’ mathematic learning outcomes in junior hight school between extrovert and introvert personality in the materials of mathematic linear equation system. The suggestion is that the teacher must be a motivator for students, and always care about the different personality of his/her students in order to find the best method or learning model that is comfortable to assist themto get good mathematic learning outcomes.Key Words: mathematic learning outcomes, extrovert and introvert personality

Abstract

Based on the preliminary study conducted by the researcher, the fourth grade students at SDN Jenggawah 01 are lack of motivation so that it badly affects on their learning outcome. To copewith this problem, a teacher can use wide variety strategies to motivate his/her students to behigh-motivated person and advance their learning outcome. Discussion is one of strategies that can be used to deal with this. This study is therefore devoted to investigate of how discussion technique can be implemented to motivate them and advance their learning outcome.It is aimed at the main purpose:how to develop and implement practical and effective model of teaching and learning to the sixth graders in SDN Jenggawah 01 with discussion technique to increase their motivation andand advance their learning outcome of introducing the attributes of Allah.  The classroom action research was chosen as the research design in this study. It was undertaken two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages namely planning, implementing/acting, observing, and revising/reflecting. The subject of this research is the students of class IV B of SDN Jenggawah 01, in academic year 2012/2013. The data are collected in the form of qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data are obtained from observation during the teaching-learning process about the whole activities and students’ behavior. The latter are obtained from the test.  The findings of the research show that discussion can be used as an effective model of teaching and learning having positive effects in increasing students’ motivation and to advance their learning outcome. This can be shown from by the increase of criteria of the action success, from 68,4% (cycle 1) to 100% (cycle 2).Keywords:  Motivation, Learning outcome, Islamic education, Discussion technique.

Abstract

            Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguak nilai-nilai islami apa sajakah  yang ada dalam lirik “ Downfall : The Battle of Uhud”. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan informasi tekstual yang ada lirik lagu “Downfall: The Battle of Uhud” sebagai sumber data yang akan di analisa. Koleksi data, pemberian kode pada nilai-nilai islami yang diambil dari kata atau frase yang ada pada lirik tersebut serta meninjau ulang data tersebut merupakan prosedur lanjutan sebagai dasar dari temuan dalam penelitian ini. Peneliti menggunakan content analysis untuk menganalisa data karena data yang dianalisa dalam bentuk dokumen. Hasilnya, ada beberapa nilai Islami yang bisa di gambarkan sebagai berikut: ketidakpatuhan akan membawa kesengsaraan, arogansi akan menjerumuskan manusia menjadi kufur, Iman yang teguh akan menghancurkan segala rintangan, dan menghindari sifat serakah. Berdasarkan temuan diatas, bias disimpulkan bahwa lirik dalam lagu ini menggambarkan banyak nilai Islami yang bias dijadikan acuan untuk melakukan kebajikan.Kata kunci: Nilai-nilai islami, Lirik Lagu.

Abstract

Limitations of ayam kampung stock Gallus sp. in the market is one of the common causes of the farmers failed to hatch. This study aims to provide information to the farmers Gallus sp. about the effect of the order of ovulation to hatching ova ayam kampung (Gallus sp.). type of true experimental research, because all the variables are controlled. Technique of random sampling or simple random sampling. From the research that has concluded that Ovum high hatchability is before ovulation ovulation until the last second, next is the beginning of ovulation and the next order is final ovulation While tetasnya low power ovum is ova aftershocks.

Abstract

This study employed guidance and counseling action research (PTBK) that involved repeated cycles consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting as proposed by Kemmis, S. and McTaggert, R. (1988). This study was aimed at investigating whether or not the group guidance and counseling is effective to develop the students’ motivation at class XI IPS 1, SMA Negeri 3 Jember. On the basis of research findings, this strategy could highly motivate the students of class XI IPS 1, SMA Negeri 3 Jember, to learn. Based on the research findings, it is highly suggested that the guidance and counseling (BK) teacher who have similar problems implement this strategy as one of alternatives to motivate their students.Keywords: Students’ motivation, group guidance and counseling.

Abstract

This research is aimed at investigating the correlation between learning style and creativity of MA student’s in solving the story-based mathematical problems. This is the corelational research with quantitative approach. The subjects of the research are the ten ggraders at MA Azza Ainul Yaqin. The subjects are given the test to know the creativity in solving the story-based mathematical problems. The data collection methods are documentation, questionnaire, and test. All the data gained in this study was analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient. The result of the research are r product = 0.562 and r table = 0.413 it’s mean that r product > r table so accepted Ha and reject Ho. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant corelatiaon between learning style and creativity of MA student’s in solving the story-based mathematical problems. The suggestion is that the teacher must care about learning style and creativity student’s in order to make the student get maximum score in the school.Key Words: learnig style, creativity

Abstract

In order to be self-independet  learners  students  are highly required  to learn (Dimyati & Mudjiono, 2009: 5). According to Skiner (in Dimyati & MUdjiono, 2009: 9) learning is a behavior.  He  adds  that  when  students   are  learning  something,  they  will  get  better response.  On the other hand, their response  will decrease  when they are not learning. In accordance with the previous illustration, the researchers  conducted  abservation  in SD Al Muttaqien  Boarding School  Kaliwates. The result  of  the  observation  about  students’ solidarity suggest  tha  it is between  55% -64%. This study aimed  an investigating the  e increase  of students’  solidarity through  the  implementation  of the  group guidance. The researcher  employs classroom action research (CAR) as a research method. It includes two cycles. The results of this study on cycle I suggest 80 % and on cycle 2 85 %. Based on the result of questionaire, the highest score for the “yes” answer is 23 or 92%. Further, for the “No” answer the result is 8 or 32%. Based on the previous result, it can perfectly prove that the students’ solidarity can be signivicantly improved through the implementation  of this method. Keywords: Students’ solidarity, the group guidance

Abstract

Reading is one of the activities that can fulfill someone’s need, including student’s needs, particularly in getting the information needed. To know the condition of the students, the researcher used the pre test. The mean score of reading comprehension Pre Test was 37%. It show that the first condition is far from satisfied, hopefully the next steps will be better. Researcher use of Directed Reading Activity (DRA) to Improve Reading Comprehension. Type of research is classroom action research (CAR). The result of score analysis, in the first cycle shows that from 27 students there are only 59,3% of them who get score ≥ 75. This means that the rest of the students do not achieve the target score. Therefore, the action is continued to the second cycle. And in the second cycle, there are only 21.4% of them who get score ≤ 75, so the rest of them or 78.6 % of them get score ≥ 75. This means that more students achieve the target score. To sum up, the uses of Directed Reading Activity method was able improve the reading comprehension. Key words: Reading Comprehension, Directed Reading Activity, Improve.

Abstract

Masalah yang ditemukan pada waktu penelitian adalah (1) kurangnya motivasi siswa, mereka sering merasa bosan untuk membaca, dan malu untuk menjawab atau takut untuk membuat kesalahan, (2) kurangnya kosakata dan struktur, mereka selalu membuka kamus jika mereka menemukan kata-kata yang sulit sehingga perlu banyak waktu dan kelemahan tata bahasa mereka dipengaruhi oleh L1 mereka, (3) siswa tidak memiliki keterampilan kooperatif, mereka malu dan takut untuk berbagi masalah mereka dalam membaca dengan guru dan teman-teman, (4) siswa memiliki kemampuan yang rendah dalam memahami teks bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami bacaan dengan menggunakan bacaan strategi kolaboratif (CSR). Strategi ini memiliki empat fase, preview, dan bunyi denting, mendapatkan inti, dan membungkus. Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan menggunakan desain kolaboratif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus di mana setiap siklus berakhir dengan pemberian tes. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPT 1 Gumukmas TKB Syamsul Ulum terletak di Gumuklimo, Nogosari, Rambipuji. Penelitian diterapkan pada semester pertama tahun pelajaran 2012-2013.Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas delapan (VIII) yang terdiri dari 22 siswa. Data penelitian diperoleh dari instrumen: lembar observasi, tes, dan wawancara. Besdasarkan tes awal yang dilakukan sebelum menggunakan CSR, nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 64. Pada tes pertama setelah menggunakan CSR, nilai rata-rata siswa menjadi 73 dan pada tes ke dua meningkat menjadi 78. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengajaran menggunakan bacaan  strategi kolaboratif dapat meningkatkan kemampuan dalam memahami bacaan.    Kata kunci: collaborative strategic reading (CSR), reading comprehension
