Abstract

Lack of student interest in learning mathematics is a scourge that needs immediate action. In this study, researchers used the media geoboard and rubber bands as a tool to increase interest in learning. The study was conducted with Classroom Action Research which was successfully completed in two cycles. The results of this study are increased student interest in mathematics before taking action only 12 students, after cycles I and II, made 20 students interested in a total of 22 students. Increasing learning outcomes and concept understanding was very good. At the end of the action in the second cycle it was found that all students had understood the concept of calculating area and circumference of rectangular and triangular shapes.

Abstract

At the beginning of each semester, subjects scheduling is always carried out by the curriculum representatives and academic staff. There were several problems that must be avoided in subjects scheduling, these problems were the schedule of teachers who teach one subject at the same time are scheduled in different classes, teachers who teach more than one subject are scheduled in the same class at the same time, teachers who are lack of scheduled for teaching. In the subject of graph theory, there is a concept of graph coloring, one of which is vertex coloring. In vertex coloring, there is a Welch-Powell Algorithm application which produces a color for each vertex. In subject scheduling, it is assumed that the vertex is the subject and the teacher, while the edge is the class. In vertex coloring, graph vertices are colored so that there's no two neighboring vertices have the same color. The aim of this research was to arrange a lesson schedule so that problems do not occur such as clashes between teachers, subjects, and teaching hours. The method used in arranging this lesson schedule used the Welch-Powell Algorithm. The results obtained were using the Welch-Powell Algorithm to produce a lesson schedule every day where if there are two classes that have the same subject, they can meet the same day requirements but come in different hours and get a lesson schedule that has no clash between teachers, subjects, and teaching hours.

Abstract

Covid-19, which has hit all corners of the country, has made education policymakers to change the learning model by implementing health protocols, one of which is called offline learning. Montessori is a learning concept in accordance with daily activities that are experienced directly by students. This study aimed to describe the application of montessori in offline mathematics learning. The research method used qualitative descriptively. The subjects of the study were second-grade students of SD Negeri Karangren 1 in the 1st semester of the 2020/2021 school year. The results showed that good environmental support was needed to support the montessori methods in offline mathematics learning. This support includes the availability of the montessori apparatus and the willingness of parents to support learning.

Abstract

Learning success is created if students want to be serious in learning, active, creative in solving math problems. The focus of the study was the learning process by improving the mathematics learning system on fractions (multiplication of fractions) with the PAKEM approach. By improving the learning system in the classroom, it can lead to success in increasing students' abilities actively, independently, and creatively. So that researchers commit to strive for improvement of the quality of learning. The research used by researchers was Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subjects of this classroom action research were students of grade V SD Mangunrejo 2, totaling 20 students. The results of the research cycle I and cycle II increased from 74,90% to 80,20%.

Abstract

The lack of use of instructional media on the volume material for building cubic spaces in mathematics learning for grade 5 elementary schools. This study aimed to improve students' learning motivation on the volume material of cubes through learning media cubes beranak in mathematics learning in grade 5 elementary school. This research procedure used the ADDIE model development design consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The increasing of students learning motivation before and after using childbirth cube media based on questionnaire. The results of this study showed that the level of validity of this media based on the evaluation of material experts 81,6% with very valid validity criteria, 72,5% media experts with valid validity criteria, 89,3% expert learning implementation plan with very valid validity criteria, Expert Student Worksheet 91,6% with validity criteria very valid. Student responses to child cube media obtained an average value of 81,1% with a very good assessment category, the teacher's response to child cube media obtained a value of 100% with a very good assessment category. Based on the data on student learning motivation before using the media cubes, the average child was 53,61 with the enough category increased to 81,04 with the very high category after using the child cube media

Abstract

The importance of emphasizing material understanding, creativity, freedom of expression, and teachers 'understanding of the thinking processes of their students, so with this research, the researcher wants to provide an overview of junior high school students' thinking processes through the mind mapping method which is carried out on 3 subjects with different mathematical abilities. Subjects were selected by purposive sampling according to predetermined criteria. The data was collected using the test method in the form of giving the task of making concept maps about the material being taught by the teacher and interviews about the results of their work. Furthermore, the data was processed using qualitative data analysis which includes reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. From the analysis, it was found that students with high abilities could fulfill 8 of the 9 indicators. For students with moderate ability, they can meet 7 of the 9 indicators proposed, while students with low abilities were only able to meet 6 of the 9 indicators. But in terms of using colors, students with low abilities were able to use more color variations with gradation techniques. Further research can take other subjects with various variables that are able to support students' thinking processes.

Abstract

Implementation of the teaching and learning process in general still use conventional learning models so as to result in low mathematics learning outcomes of students, especially in the surrounding material and flat building area. This study aimed to measure the differences in learning outcomes of class IV students through STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) learning model and conventional learning. This study used quasi-experimental quantitative research design by looking at the differences in mathematical value results in pre-test and post-test between control class and experimental class. Based on the data analysis, the results of the study showed that there were differences in the learning outcomes of mathematics students of class IV who use the learning model Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) and conventional learning. This was evidenced by the average value of the control class which increased by 9.88% from 54.36 to 64.24 while the average value of the class in the experimental class reached 24.92% from 55.80 to 80.72.

Abstract

Difficulties in learning geometry relate to spatial abilities. Students with good spatial skills will be able to solve geometric problems. In helping students overcome difficulties in learning geometry, they used the Van Hiele's learning theory. This qualitative descriptive study aimed to describe the spatial perception ability in solving geometric problems based on Van Hiele's theory in terms of mathematical ability. The subjects in this study were three junior high school students with high, medium, and low math abilities. Subjects were given a spatial ability test and an interview twice. The triangulation time and subject was carried out to test the credibility of data. Based on the results of data analysis, students with high, medium, and low math abilities were able to observe objects from different perspectives. Subjects with medium math abilities were able to observe the object from different perspectives. However, subjects with high and low math abilities have some difficulties in observing objects from different perspectives.

Abstract

Learning activities were carried out online or the Online Learning Model (OLM) in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. Every student who participates in OLM is trained in critical thinking and regularly improves the solving of a mathematical problem. This research used qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Researchers were interested in identifying critical thinking standards of analysis at the Novice Performance Level with the Online Learning Model (OLM) in Geometry Lectures in solving geometric problems based on students' Critical thinking skills with analysis indicators. Subjects were taken based on the assignment score on the material. Subjects were grouped into 3 abilities, namely low ability (Re), medium ability (Se), and high ability (Ti). The number of subjects was three people who were taken from each group at each level. Data were collected using 2 mutually supporting instruments, namely the test instrument and the interview instrument. The validation used was expert validation and content validation. The results showed that online learning activities or the Online Learning Model (OLM) can be identified that subjects with low abilities fulfill all indicators in the analysis stage, while not meeting all indicators for moderate and high student abilities because the Novice performance level is in accordance with its understanding, namely the lowest level where the subject had not been able to solve the given problem at all.
