Abstract

Apologetics is often identified with public opinion as merely a matter of method, practicality and certain rational systems to answer questions about faith. The meta-method of apologetics wants to shift that opinion considering the nature of apologetics as a “space” for pneuma, which revolves through dunamis and imaginarium. Thus, apologetics is rethought as a discipline, which is open to pneumatikos dynamics, not coopted into one monocultural and instrumental rationality, and moves flexibly in the face of multicontextual reality.

Abstract

Corruption is a classic problem in Indonesian. Many books and articles have addressed this issue, but there is very little from a biblical perspective. Corruption has occurred since the days of ancient Egypt and the practice of corruption is strongly associated with the practice of idolatry that was popular in that era. Israel, influenced by neighboring nations, is not immune to corruption and idolatry. Therefore the Old Testament law and the prophets proclaimed criticism and warning against the corruptors. The church today needs to develop anti-corruption teaching and re-establish its prophetic role in the midst of corrupt society.

Abstract

Since Jesus the Lord gave the Great Commission, the current world population that are affiliated to God’s Church is only 33% of the total population. The Great Commission is a must mandate (Luk. 24:47) because of the sinfulness of human and their powerlessness to save themselves from the wrath of God. The sinfulness makes the salvation in Christ to be absolutly needed. The growth of world population is faster than biological growth of Chruch community. Currently, the world population is almost 7.6 billion. Twenty centuries have passed, in terms of its growth, it is an impossibility if Christians just rely on biological growth. This article is aimed to exhibit that the faithfulness of Christians to continue the mission of the Great Mission is an imperative need. The Three Windows has existed and becomes a crucial challenge in the present time. Accordingly, the variety of missionaries and Christians contributions should become serious consideration for all Christians.

Abstract

Christian Religious Education is a biblical and Christ-centered teaching and learning process. Christian education plays a role in directing a person toward the understanding of and maturity in Christ. This research was conducted as the continuation of the research conducted by the previous researcher that is Susanto. Susanto’s research found that Christian religious education has been conducted in GKII Tandang, however the previous research has not explained how is the implementation. For that reason, it is considered important to describe Christian Religious Education implemented in the congregation of GKII Tandang. For that purpose, the researcher collects datas through interviews with pastors, church governing body members and church members, then observes the fellowship activities and collects datas from church documentation. Based on the results of the research, it has been found that the Christian Religious Education in GKII Tandang is held through Sunday worship preaching, catechisms, cell group fellowship, categorical fellowship, open-air fellowship, and prayer and fasting. Thus, the study concludes that Christian Religious Education is carried out in the congregation through fellowship and teaching.

Abstract

Process theology has influenced the worldview of Christian theology. It has emphasis on the doctrine of God. Process theology is consistently applied based on dipolar nature, namely the changing and unchanging nature. These two natures have affected the view of God. Process theology is also included as natural theology, which is seeking for theodicy purpose. In this article, there are two types of response toward process theology, appreciation and counter position. The responses will be elaborated based on theological concept and biblical studies approaches.

Abstract

There are many facets of Christian faith, especially for Evangelicalism and Conservativism, which contradict with Indonesian culture according to Hofstede’s study. The aim of this study is synthesizing the dialectics utilizing Christ above Culrture concept of Niebuhr. This method of this study uses Hegel's dialectics to synthesize the dialectical relationship between Indonesian culture and Christian faith. The results of this study are syntheses of: (1) dialectics between individualistic doctrine of salvation and collectivistic of Indonesian culture; (2) dialectic of Christian faith and uncertainty avoidance culture; (3) dialectic of Christian faith on equality and power distance culture, (4 ) the dialectic of masculinity-femininity culture in the Christian faith and femininity of Indonesian culture; and (5) dialectic of long-term and short-term orientation in the Christian faith perspective and Indonesian culture. A number of alternative solutions are also proposed as practical applications of these syntheses for the gospel ministry in Indonesia that cannot avoid interaction with local cultures.

Abstract

The Lex Talionis law is often understood as a law that applies maximum revenge. Through this law, all forms of retaliation are legalized and even justified. The study in Exodus 21: 22-25 just wants to show the opposite of the above understanding. According to the word talion, indeed the Lex Talionis law presupposes complete retaliation. But through interpretation and excavation, especially on Exodus 21: 22-25, the main elements found in Lex Talionis’ law are found; which does not refer to a complete attempt to retaliate, but instead points to the aspect of God's justice in response to every legal case that applied between humans. Thus, the Lex Talionis law is no longer seen as a law of retaliation, but a law of justice that allows this type of law to be implemented in today's life. The results of the study using narrative interpretation methods and combined with textual criticism resulted in an understanding that Lex Talionis law had practical implications, especially regarding the value of sosial justice that could be submitted to the perpetrators of injustice through the courts, so justice would be expected.

Abstract

This article is an investigation to offer theological ideas about creation narrative based on Ancient Near East cultures. Through historical-cultural approach and using comparative study methods, this article will analyze creation narrative in Genesis 1:1-2:3 through the differences and similarities with Enuma Elish. According to the general assumption of similarities among cultural cults in the Fertile Crescent, this article will explore some theological ideas that the author of the book of Genesis would reveal. The result of the historical-cultural approach reveals that the author of Genesis had interest in to two large frameworks, namely the concept of creator and creation. Regarding the concept of creator, the things that are revealed is the affirmation of monotheism and the absence of theogony and nothingness of divine conflict. Then, regarding the concept of creation, creatio ex nihilo in Genesis 1:1-2:3, orderliness and perfection are the essence and character of creation.
