Abstract

The dramatic structure is a unified event consisting of a section containing plot elements. This series is structured and mutually preserves the story continuity from beginning to end. Structure is a unity of parts which, if any part of it is altered or damaged, will change or corrupt the whole structure. In a movie called Lion is told a 5-year-old boy named Saroo who got lost when accidentally carried by a train that took him to Calcutta, India. Movies that tell a story must have dramatic struktru, therefore film also has the essence. One example in the main character Lion film does not easily solve the problem but he has to fight first to get to the final destination. Such is the dramatic structure, bringing the audience into the soul of the main character, in order to feel and follow the story from beginning to end.

Abstract

Story is the most important element in creating a movie. A good movie has a strong story and able to connect emotionally with the audience. A story in a movie, many designed not only specifically for the production of a film, but can also be produced in other formats, such as games or television series. In fact, many of the story films that adapt from other media, namely literary. By using the method of narrative analysis and the theory of ecranization, in this study the authors found many changes when a literary work of writing was lifted into the production of film/ big screen. The case example in this paper is the story of Cinderella who was lifted into the film. Cinderella tells the story of a hope, that there will be a reward for those who are patient. Cinderella is one of the most popular classical tales of all time that has been widely adapted into various media, one of which is the widescreen film produced by Walt Disney in 2015. This paper analyzes the plot comparison between Charles Perrault's Cinderella tale with a film produced by Walt Disney in 2015 with the same title. Through this paper, the authors hope to give an idea of the differences and reasons for plot changes when a story moves formats from one media to another.

Abstract

This film entitled The Art of Queue packs an attitude that is applied to community activities in the form of queuing, which is combined into a whole story in the form of a documentary.Queuing is a unique and interesting activity because there are various expressions from people at the time of the process. Queuing is also strongly influenced by the ever-evolving cultural traditions. And also can not be separated from the shadow of the rules that follow. Although very little sanction is given if it is violated there will be penalties in it, both punishments that arise from other people, and also punishments that arise from within themselves.Activities that are already common in the community environment in general are compiled based on montage, with compilation made randomly. Combining several footage elements with a blend of transitions in them, which makes visual appearance into a whole. There is a blend of graphics, sketches, videos and audio in this film which ultimately forms a dramatic structure.There is a background mind about understanding tolerance, and a system from a line. This queuing system influences the reality of people's lives in Indonesia, in this case Bandung, Jakarta and Yogyakarta are samples of queue activities that occur in their communities.

Abstract

Student creativity in film making as a final project is increasing, various forms of narrative and cinematographic techniques are applied in the films made. Film is the easiest medium to disseminate any form of information. At the academic level, especially the Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia Bandung, documentary film becomes the final task of the academic learning stage. Documentary films are packaged in an interesting and have a moral message conveyed to the public. The number of graduates of film and television programs up to now amounts to 106 people with varying work character one of them is visible from the creation they created. This topic is very important to be appointed to know the characteristics of the director of the visual results in the work of Final Documentary Film Works by students of the Film and Television majors of the Indonesia Cultural Art Institut of Bandung (Institut Seni Kebudayaan Indonesia Bandung).This research uses qualitative research method to analyze the object under study, data obtained from literature study, observation of work and interview. Technical data analysis is done based on auteur theory, where the film can reflect the personality and creativity of a director. The results of this study show the variation of the directing style that influences the characters created in the final documentary work. Finallly this research can be used as a learning development and the development of innovative work creation with a variety of directorial styles.

Abstract

Virtual reality cinema is a film with the latest technology which allows viewer “present” in film both consciously and subconsciously. 360 degree vision to the reality that offered by virtual reality technology makes viewers can choose their angle, size, and visual movement which are desired within enjoying the story of film. This study discuss about influence of virtual reality cinema on the possibility grammar of cinema along with aesthetic dimension it produce in the film. This study uses analytic approach against the phenomenon of the emergence of virtual reality cinema, which is considered to be able to change aesthetic of film dimension and grammar of film (cinematography) as an important element in the visualization of a film.Conclusions obtained in this study is changes in aesthetic dimensions and grammar of film that has been understood, which is caused by the presence of virtual reality cinema. Cinematography as a grammar of film is expected to adapt to technological developments or still gives limit as an entity which different and not dependent on technological development.

Abstract

Animated films are growing rapidly in line with technology as well as sophisticated software support. Its use has encouraged animated filmmakers to be creative in both the story and the audio-visual quality. This paper raised the style of directing animated films from the style of Hayao Miyazaki. Hayao Miyazaki has its own concept and technique in concocting the works of the film. Until now, he has scored many awards. Traditional animation techniques are not as easy and as fast as the use of modern (digital) animation techniques. But he held fast and never dampened his passion to be able to create animations as well as animated films produced by Disney. He visualizes the scenario through his distinctive cinematic, for him the film is believed to have the freedom of creating images and hand drawings on paper is the fundamentals of animation. Technical data analysis is done based on auteur theory and qualitative approach to get an idea of the factors that influence Hayao Miyazaki in creating film work. The films analyzed in this paper are Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke representing the work of Hayao Miyazaki. This study demonstrates the similarity of narrative created themes that address environmental issues, human relationships with nature and technology, and how difficult it is to safeguard the ethics of peace.

Abstract

This research talked about representation of waria life in Yogyakarta through essay photos by National Geographic Indonesia January 2017 edition. Object of this research is 5 essay photos in “Waria Setara Warga”, by Rachma Safitri as the photographer. The superiority of NGI as Magazine theres in the character of the photos. Photo of “Waria Setara Warga” representation about transgender living in Yogyakarta whom could live hand to hand and side by side with the society. NGI use photos as mediation of representation living in Yogyakarta. Issue about gender conclude by NGI as a global campaign from United State. So, in addition being a mediation for representation, NGI also make photography as a mediation for global campaign. Researcher wants to know how photography work as a mediation for representation the global campaign about gender issues. The result of this research is a photo of essay "Waria Setara Warga" is a transgender advocacy media.

Abstract

Film is an audio visual communication media to convey a message to apresiator/ audience who watch it. Drama is one of the films that have a particular plot and theme, such as; romance, social life, culture, history of struggle, and others. In the Movie of “Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck” directed by Sunil Soraya and adapted from the novel by Hamka, tells of a young Minangkabau who can not marry the girl he loves because they have different social backgrounds. The problem is described by Zainuddin as the main character who can not marry Hayati. Minangkabau or abbreviated Minang refers to the cultural and geographical entities characterized by the use of Minang language, customs that embrace the matrilineal kinship system, and a strong Islamic identity. Matrilineal is one of the main aspects in defining the identity of Minang society. The sociological approach was used to obtain a description of Hamka's novel adaptation into the film “Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck”. This paper shows how the process of ecranization or adaptation can describe the storyline, characters and characterizations, as well as the background of Minang cultural hegemony in the complexity of the events attached to the characters in the film “Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck”.

Abstract

At present the relationship between the younger generation and audio and visual media is getting stronger. The growth of film communities in the regions and the development of the education world of Vocational High School Organizing Record Media majors is evidence that the younger generation is very interested in media and technology, the emergence of the phenomenon of YouTubeers to be strong evidence of how audio and visual media become creative ways of delivering messages. Film-community work and students in several regions use the theme of potential culture, tourism, customs and events that occur in their environment. Unique citizen-based journalism as an interesting way of communicating.

Abstract

Although the birth of film art is the youngest form of art, but in its work has shaken the world by seizing a spectacular position. When film is recognized as a work of art, film also has the potential for communication that can deliver messages uniquely, so that it can be said as a manifestation of the representation of the lives of its people. However, how can the film be appreciated by the audience? Of course the stages of the process must go a long way starting from the inspiration to the embodiment of appreciation. There are several stages in the process, namely the stage of idea finding, development, packaging and formation until tangible to be appreciated. The idea-seeking stage is the stage of absorption of inspiration stimulated by aesthetic experiences. The development phase is to motivate the theme and the problems to be expressed in its realization. After that it is then packaged based on literary rules into a scenario. Furthermore, the interpretation of the manuscript is done to form through several components of creative workers. Compiled based on cinematic elements to the form of film packaging that can be appreciated.
