Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study was to find out: (1) Is the improvement in students' understanding of mathematical concepts given guided discovery method assisted by software Autograph higher than students who were given guided discovery method learning without Autograph software, (2) Is there an interaction between learning with students' initial mathematical ability to increase the ability to understand student mathematical concepts. This research is a quasi-experimental study. The population of this study is that all classes in the fourth semester mathematics education study program are approximately 184 people. Randomly, two classes were selected from six classes. The experimental class was treated with a guided discovery method assisted by autograph and control class given a guided discovery method without the help of autograph. The instrument used is a description test. Data analysis was performed by analysis of two-way variance (ANAVA). The results showed (1) Increased ability to understand mathematical concepts of groups of students who obtained guided discovery method learning using Autograph software higher than the group of students who received learning through guided discovery methods without software autograph. (2) There is no interaction between the learning model and the initial ability of students to increase the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts.Keywords: ability of concept understanding, Guided Discovery Method, Autograph Software.

Abstract

AbstractThe research aimed to increase student’s mathematics learning of SMA Negeri 1 Tambang grade X5. This research was conducted on 36 students of grade X5 in SMA Negeri 1 Tambang through cooperative learning with approachment Think Pair Square (TPS) and Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) technique. The material is about Linear and Quadratic Equation. This research was classroom action research. The subjects of this research was 36 students of grade X5 in SMAN 1 Tambang. The object of this research was to increase the student’s mathematics learning through Cooperative Learning with structural approachment TPS and TSTS technique for linear and quadratic equations. The instrument of this research was the student’s Mathematic result, observation, and interviews. The observations aimed to determine the researcher’s ability to manage the process of learning to determine the student’s prior knowledge was taken from student’s test before learning it was 15 (41.67%) of student reach KKM. After giving the cooperative learning with the structural TPS and TSTS technique, then giving the mathematics learning result (daily tests I). From the results of UH I data showed that as many as 20 (55.56%) students achieve KKM. Because of the results of students' mathematics learning as a whole has not been reached then resumed action on the second cycle. From the results of UH II data showed that 27 (75%) of students who reached the KKM. This means an increase in students' mathematics learning results from the first cycle to the second cycle. Keywords Mathematics Learning Result, Cooperative Learning, TPS, TSTS

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills with the implementation of the 2013 curriculum on linear program materials in grade XI SMA Negeri 2. This type of research is a classroom action research. This study measures students' mathematical communication skills. The test instrument of mathematical communication ability given to the students with the form of the test essay has been done by validating the instrument test and it is stated that the quality of the research instrument is significant, because by using the product moment formula obtained the lowest validity calculation 0.279 (low validity) and highest validity coefficient 0,829 (validity High) so that each test item is valid. Based on the conclusion of data obtained that the students' oral mathematical communication ability increased from 85% in the first cycle that is 34 students get good criteria and 6 students get enough criteria to be 90% in cycle II that is 36 students get good criteria and 4 students get enough criteria. While the student's mathematical communication ability increased from 62,5% in cycle I that is 25 students get good criterion and 15 students got enough criteria become 87,5% in cycle II that is 35 student get good criterion and 5 student get enough criteria. Keywords: Curriculum 2013, Mathematical Communication, Linear Program Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa dengan implementasi kurikulum 2013 pada materi program linear di kelas XI SMA Negeri 2. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian ini mengukur kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa. Instrumen tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika tulisan yang diberikan kepada siswa dengan bentuk esai tes telah dilakukan uji validasi instrumen dan dinyatakan kualitas instrumen penelitian adalah signifikan, karena dengan menggunakan rumus product moment diperoleh hasil perhitungan validitas terendah 0,279 (validitas rendah) dan koefisien validitas tertinggi 0,829 (validitas tinggi) sehingga setiap butir tes adalah valid. Berdasarkan penyimpulan data diperoleh bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematika lisan siswa meningkat dari 85% pada siklus I yaitu 34 siswa mendapatkan kriteria baik dan 6 siswa mendapatkan kriteria cukup menjadi 90% pada siklus II yaitu 36 siswa mendapatkan kriteria baik dan 4 siswa mendapat kriteria cukup. Sedangkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika tulisan siswa meningkat dari 62,5% pada siklus I yaitu 25 siswa mendapatkan kriteria baik dan 15 siswa mendapat kriteria cukup menjadi 87,5% pada siklus II yaitu 35 siswa mendapatkan kriteria baik dan 5 siswa mendapatkan kriteria cukup. Kata Kunci: Kurikulum 2013, Komunikasi Matematika, Program Linear

Abstract

Abstract. This research is a learning device development research that will be used in learning with the Project based Learning (PjBL) model with the help of technology, in this case using Geogebra software. Geogebra Software is a dynamic mathematical software that combines geometry, algebra and calculus can be used as a tool in mathematical learning. Geogebra is a special mathematical program that can be used as a medium for learning mathematics. This research was conducted in one of the high schools in Deli Serdang Regency. Development of learning is done gradually in accordance with step 4D, then the researchers simplify the changing of the four stages (4D) into three stages (3D) is defining, designing, and development.Keywords: Teaching Materials, Project Based Learning (PjBL), Geogebra Software

Abstract

Abstract. Computers are essential tools for teaching, learning, and doing mathematics. Computers can visualize or represent mathematical ideas, organize and analyze data, and calculate effectively and accurately. Computers can help students conduct investigations through representations in various fields of mathematics such as geometry, calculus, statistics, algebra, measurements, and numbers. This paper discusses the role of Maple assisted representation in calculus learning. Representation is very supportive in increasing students' understanding of mathematical relations and concepts. There are three main functions of representation, namely complementing, constraining, and constructing. Complementing function is to complete the process and complete the information. The constraining function is to help students experience difficulties in a representation. The constructing function is to support constructing a deeper understanding of a concept. Students can get a deeper understanding if difficulties with only one representation. Maple software is a facility that is very supportive in making representations in learning mathematics as in calculus learning. By using Maple we can do numerical and symbolic calculations and perform graphical representations well. Maple can also effectively determine limits, derivatives, integrals, and a series of other functions and capabilities. With this Maple software capability, we can use it to improve students' understanding of calculus courses.Keywords: Representation, Computers, Maple, Calculus

Abstract

Self-efficacy is a person's feelings, ways of thinking, self-motivation, and desire to have something, while a positive attitude means in the learning process students have a tendency to accept or reject a concept or idea, if not in accordance with his mind. Students can think and be positive if if a learning can provide real benefits for life. While the academic achievement is the result of behavioral changes that include the cognitive domain, affective domain and psychomotor domain which is a measure of student success after being given treatment or learning. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Sipirok. This study uses descriptive research method with correlational approach with the aim to know whether there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and positive attitude toward student academic achievement. Based on the research that has been done, the research results found that there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and positive attitude of students to the academic achievement in SMK Negeri 1 Sipirok Tapanuli Selatan but the relationship is not showing increase or decrease so it can be said academic achievement is not important enough in pushing self-efficacy and positive attitude of students.

Abstract

Abstract. The aims of this research is to 1) the effectiveness of the learning process by using learning tools problem based learning learning model, include: (a) the achievement of student learning objectives views of problem solving skills both individually and classical, (b) active activity levels of students during the learning process, (c) the level of the teacher's ability to manage learning process, (d) student response of the components and the learning process; 2) increase students' problem solving skills using learning tools developed. Subjects in this study were students of class VII SMP Negeri 3 Sunggal as many as 34 people and the object of this study is to look at the effectiveness of the learning process is carried out. The instrument used consisted of observations of student activity sheets, a teacher's ability observation sheet, questionnaire responses of students and problem solving ability test. Learning tools developed (RPP, teacher books, student books, and activity sheets) already meets the level of validity with reliability coefficient is 0.788. Based on data obtained from tests on learning devices in mind that: 1) the device has been developed to meet the effectiveness of the learning process, wherein: (a) the percentage of students who reach the level of problem solving ability in classical 85,29% of the 34 students taking the test with a minimum value of 2,67 (B-), (b) the activity levels of students have met the tolerance limit LAS ideal time to good use in teaching in the first trial and the second trials, (c) the ability of teachers on the first trial is 2.90 and the second trials is 4,22, (d) student response to the components and the learning process has been positive on the first trial and second trials; 2) an increase in students' problem-solving ability of students at postest first trial, which increased 2,72 to 2,84 in postes second trial with an average increase in the medium category (average N-gain = 0.574).Keywords: learning tools, Problem Based Learning model, and problem solving Abstrak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk 1) keefektifan proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berdasarkan masalah, meliputi: (a) pencapaian tujuan belajar siswa dilihat dari kemampuan pemecahan masalah baik secara individu maupun klasikal, (b) tingkat aktivitas aktif siswa selama proses pembelajaran, (c) tingkat kemampuan guru dalam mengelola proses pembelajaran, (d) respon siswa terhadap komponen dan proses pembelajaran; 2) meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa dengan menggunakan perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Sunggal sebanyak 34 orang dan objek penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat keefektifan proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan. Instrumen yang digunakan terdiri dari observasi lembar aktivitas siswa, lembar observasi kemampuan guru, kuesioner tanggapan siswa dan uji kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Alat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan (RPP, buku guru, buku pelajar, dan lembar kegiatan) sudah memenuhi tingkat validitas dengan koefisien reliabilitas sebesar 0,788. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari pengujian perangkatpembelajaran diketahui bahwa: 1) perangkat telah dikembangkan untuk memenuhi keefektifan proses pembelajaran, dimana: (a) persentase siswa yang mencapai tingkat kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada kelas klasik 85, 29% dari 34 siswa yang mengikuti tes dengan nilai minimal 2,67 (B-), (b) tingkat aktivitas siswa telah memenuhi batas toleransi waktu ideal LAS untuk digunakan dengan baik dalam pengajaran di sidang pertama dan yang kedua. Uji coba, (c) kemampuan guru pada percobaan pertama adalah 2,90 dan uji coba kedua adalah 4,22, (d) tanggapan siswa terhadap komponen dan proses pembelajaran telah positif pada percobaan pertama dan uji coba kedua; 2) peningkatan kemampuan memecahkan masalah siswa pada percobaan pertama postest, yang meningkat 2,72 menjadi 2,84 pada postes second trial dengan kenaikan rata-rata kategori medium (rata-rata N-gain = 0,574). Kata Kunci: perangkat pembelajaran, pembelajaran berdasarkan masalah, dan pemecahan masalah

Abstract

Abstract. The purpouse of this study is to know the understanding of the mathematical concepts of students with the application of REACT learning strategies better than the understanding of mathematical concepts of convensional learning students. This type of research is Quasi Exsperiment with Randomized Subjects Posttest Only Control Group Design. Population of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Pasir Penyu. Sampling is done by Random Sampling. The classes selected to be the experimental class are class VIII4 and the control class is class VIII3. Data collection techniques used test instrument understanding students’ math concepts. The technique of data analysis using t-test as hypothesis test, with pre- requirement test is normality test and homogeneity test. Based on the calculation of the dip- t test taritmethic =2,113 and ???????????????????????? =2,005, because ????????????????????????????????ℎ???????????????????????????????? so it can be concluded that ???????? accepted means the hypothesis proposed in accepted researcth that is the understanding of mathematical concepts by applying REACT’s strategy of learning is better than the understanding of mathematical concepts of students using convensional learning class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Pasir Penyu.Keywords: Relating, Exsperiencing, Applying, Cooperating and Transfering (REACT), understanding concepts.

Abstract

Abstract. This research has been made to know skill of student’s concept by using active learning strategy everyone is teacher here (ETH). Beside that this study aims to measure student’s concept understanding with statistical test between Experimental Class (Active Learning Strategy Everyone Is Teacher Here) and control class (Conventional Learning ). The population was seventh grade of SMPN 3 Lirik consist 94 students in three classes. Sample was took randomly, experiment class ( VII.2 ) and control class ( VII.I ) This research was experiment, the form of this research was Quasi Experimental Design with randomized subject posttest only control group design. based on statistic data processing has been retrieved - t hitung -3,159 smaller than - t table was -2,000 and based on t test has been retrieved -thitung -t table so Ho rejected and Ha received. So that the writer conclude that skill of math student’s concept understanding by using active learning Strategy Everyone Is Teacher Here (ETH) is better than conventional concept understanding.Keywords: Everyone Is A Teacher Here, Concept Understanding
