Abstract

Literacy is a system of graphical signs or visual symbols of the language that people use to communicate. Balinese script is a mother tongue for Balinese people, which is still used for the benefit of social order and religious ceremonies.For this reason, Balinese script is very important to learn and understand from an early age.But its existence is now increasingly marginalized, along with the times.In its current development, the interest of children to learn Balinese script is decreasing.One of the factors causing a reduction in children's interest in learning Balinese script is a learning system by using conventional media with lectures in class and guided by manuals or student worksheets that contain more text than illustrative illustrations, so that it becomes less interesting and boring. So that learning supporting media is needed, with Balinese Script Puzzle Game that are in accordance with the Balinese Language curriculum for grade 1-3 elementary school children.The purpose of this study was to examine the extent of the effectiveness of the Balinese Script Puzzle Game as a supporter of Balinese script learning and preservation of Balinese script for technology-based grade 1-3 elementary school children.The research method used is qualitative and quantitative methods by going through several stages, among others, beginning with observations by observing the extent to which interest in elementary school children in grades 1-3 on the Balinese Script Puzzle Game,and observe changes that occur after trying to use the Balinese Script Game Puzzle as a supporter of Balinese Script learning. The next stage is doing sampling and measuring the level of effectiveness based on the data obtained and the measurement scale.

Abstract

Campaign in principle is a process of individual or group communication activities institutionalized and aims to create a certain impact. Political contestation at this time currently uses various media as mass communication. One of the most widely used media communications in political campaigns is portrait photos. In a portrait photo that is seen is the protrusion of a figure in a picture frame. Portrait photos are widely used in today's political campaign media and appear to be a mandatory element in campaign media. Its almost certain when there are political activities such as general elections, presidential elections and others, campaign media that display portraits of political figures can be found in strategic public places. Usually photos that are selected or set to be communicative and the appearance of the expressions from political figures sparks smiles and laughter to gain sympathy from their constituents. The form of portrait photos in campaign media appears in various mediums such as banners, billboards, pins, stickers, posters, t-shirts, and others. The communication that is built in the portrait photo media is non verbal communication that requires viewers to see visuals or images. This become interesting to study because portrait photos are not enough to only be read as visual that display personal figures but can be seen from a social angle because their presence functions as signs and illustrative elements.

Abstract

Bali became one of the world's best tourism destinations. Environment and culture are still awake to make a small island nicknamed the island of this god is in great demand by the tourists. This excellence is a source of energy in driving the wheels of the economy in Bali. However, this has to sacrifice some environmental sustainability to support infrastructure in the tourism sector. Such as the conversion of land into villas, hotels and others, even today which is still a hot issue in Bali is a plan to reclaim Teluk Benoa area. This unease that makes the Balinese people began to realize the side effects of tourism progress. Balinese people are known as individuals who love the environment because they are familiar with the concept of palemahaan (good relationship with the environment). This concept is a reference community to reject the project, one of which is Dian. Dian is a cartoonist who is known to be active in the campaign against the reclamation in Teluk Benoa. His cartoon works, drafted forms that could signal a message to awaken some Balinese still expecting a reclamation project. Dian's cartoons designed as a rejection of the full reclamation of semiotics, signs and meanings. Through his cartoons, Dian not only wants to entertain through his funny display of cards, but also wants to invite and realize the Balinese people, that reclamation will not only bring financial benefits, but the dangers of environmental damage will come at any time as a side effect of the reclamation plan Tanjung Benoa.

Abstract

Advertising activities have existed since the Greek and Roman times through verbal communication. In modern times advertising activities are practiced almost every time by large companies through mass media. These companies are willing to spend millions of dollars searching a way to create unique and creative ways to advertise. Besides advertisement must have an attractive appearance, the ad must also give a meorable impression that are easy to remember. One way to make ads easy to remember is to insert a story behind the visuals of the ad. Fiat is an Italian automotive company that inserts storytelling in Fiat 500 series adverts. With the brilliant minds of Dave Hill and his digital processing capabilities Fiat is able to produce a unique and interesting ad with the dual meaning of denotative and connotative through story.

Abstract

In a media, has a concept in its design. A concept will later become a trait or identity in a work or media. The concept is an idea that represents a form that can give birth to perceptions of an object in simple or abstract form. In this study, will discuss the concept of a logo, namely the logo of the Neka Museum Art Foundation located on Ubud, Sanggingan Street, Gianyar. At the Museum Neka Foundation logo, the concept used is the concept of Tri Hita Karana. The method that will be use in research is the observation method conducted at the research location, namely at the Neka Museum, the interview method is by structurally interviewing the designer of the Neka Museum Foundation logo about the concept of the logo, and the library method relating to design theories visual communication such as concepts, logos, and Tri Hita Karana theory itself. The concept Tri Hita Karana in the logo of the Museum Neka Foundation is elaborated from each of the existing design elements, all of which have meaning.

Abstract

This article discusses the rate of growth from traditional to postmodernism visualized through the work of contemporary art. Based on observations in the field with the Kerobokan village as an observation location whose growth has been categorized as urban. The work focuses on the periodization of change by looking for new meanings that can be used as a process of awareness of current cultural values. Sources of data obtained through a qualitative approach using descriptive analysis method with interview techniques in 2015. Creation uses the theory of Alma M. Hawkins namely exploration, improvisation, and forming. Along with the Faucault Knowledge and Power Relations theory to read the discourse and cultural phenomena under study. Employment shows the results of the life cycle of the postmodernism period, the development of the stage of life is so fast as if there is no pause in accordance with the results of research on the kerobokan community. Likewise on cultural values, significant changes are present through the procession of postmodern marriage, which currently not only questions spirituality / religiosity but gives birth to a new discourse on wedding fashion.

Abstract

Documentary movie that present reality in various ways and are made for various purposes. Social, political and cultural life mostly inspiresthe documentary. The concept of documentary movie is to build a storyline based on the reality. Documentary movie are made according to certain versions based on the reality. Various techniques can be used to convey information and convince the audience about the situation and conditions in the movie. Unlike fiction films that have a clear narrative structure, documentary films do not have a narrative structure. The main key to a documentary is the presentation of facts. Documentary films relate to real people, figures, events and locations. The style of storytelling in documentaries is non-narrative because documentaries do not contain the composition of the stories in them. In the documentary film Pekak Kukuruyuk, it can be seen that the narrative concept that was built from this film is the concept of realism (real), which is to build a storyline based on reality. Where this concept is opposite to experimental films that have the concept of formalism (abstract). This film was made through a direct recording method when the event actually took place and inserted several reconstructions and interviews in it.

Abstract

Comics are one of the most effective promotional media because they have pictures, text and storylines. The present development of comics is not only made through conventional processes but can also be done in digital processes. This comic gain is taken to carry out the promotion process. The development of the internet today is very rapid. With the help of internet use it can allow an individual to interact with other individuals without any distance limitations. Social media is one of the developments in digital technology that makes it easy for someone to communicate with people without the distance of their location. Social media is an effective publication tool in the publication of comics that contain promotional content so that messages can be received by the wider community. Comics have various types according to their needs, and one of them is the Comic Strip. In the Comic Strip is an effective choice in carrying out a promotional activity. Stripm comics are a type of comic that only consists of a few panel images. However, when viewed in terms of its contents, this comic has revealed the idea of ​​complete content. With the advantages of Comics and social media, comic publications on social media are one of the effective choices in making a promotion.

Abstract

Animation is one of the media affected by technological development. As technology develops, animation can now be done through a computerized system. Upin and Ipin is one of the animations created through a computerized system and is favored by children. This animation produced in Malaysia has a simple, easy to digest everyday story and has an attractive three-dimensional visual display. This study aims to analyze what 3-dimensional animation and its opportunities to the audience, especially children. The study data collection was done through observation of several children who are always bound to watch animation. The analysis shows that children especially in Bali are quite interested in 3-dimensional animation, one of which is Upin Ipin animation. Interest in 3-dimensional animation, especially Upin Ipin, is quite influential for children. The most visible influence is in the form of daily behavior, as well as Malay dialect and dialect when talking to his friends, parents, and people around him. In fact, due to the influence of Upin Ipin, the words and sentence structure expressed are not like the sentence structure in Indonesian in general. This phenomenon implies that 3-dimensional animation has a good opportunity to be developed, the indicator is that children are very enthusiastic and interested in 3-dimensional animation.

Abstract

Delivering a story through visual comic characters can make it easier for readers to understand the contents and distinguish one character from another. Not only as a distinguishing element, but visualization of comic characters can represent areas where the visual is commonly used and found. In the comic titled Boku No Hero Academia (BNHA) found elements and terms that are commonly found in comics and American superhero characters in general, one of them through the All Might character. Through qualitative research methods, with data collection techniques through observation, literature, and internet studies, this paper aims to examine how the characters of All Might represent American superheroes through his visuals.
