Abstract

Background: The difficulty of feeding (picky eater) is the behavior of the child does not want to or refuses to eat, or have difficulty consuming food or drink with the type and quantity of suitable age physiologically (natural and unnatural), ranging from open his mouth without coercion, chew, swallow, until absorbed in digestion are good without coercion and without granting specific medications, vitamins and Picky eater able to be symptoms of child health detriment if the reply was not directly addressed. A picky eater can make a child's nutritional intake shortage that certainly further cause severe Stunting and is easily affected by the disease.Purpose: Knowing correlation between toddler's picky eater and stunting on toddler in Central Lampung- Indonesia.Methods: This study used a quantitative approach to the design of case- control. Sampling techniques using the formula slovin. Data analysis using the chi- square test.Results: The statistical tests for non-parametric bivariate obtained the value of p = 0.000 picky eater  relationship with stunting which means there is a significant correlation.Conclusion: There is a relationship between picky eater with a stunting incident in Central Lampung Indonesia. Suggestion for government authority to be pay attention especially in compliance of the nutritional needs to toddler and health education to the parent about an essential nutrition for the toddler

Abstract

Background: Violent behavior is the dominant sign and symptom in patients with schizophrenia. Proper nursing care can help patients independently control violent behavior. A cognitive behavioral group therapy program  in stimulation of perception to identify their experience of violent behavior.Purpose: Knowing the effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral group therapy program for reducing violence risk in persons with schizophreniaMethods: A quantitative research by design an experimental analytic with pre and post-experiment approach. The sample was 18  inpatient at mental hospital, Lampung Indonesia. By criteria who has a experience of violent behavior.Results: The average score of (pre-treatment) a cognitive behavioral group therapy program  in stimulation of perception of 7.94 (SD± 2.838) (post-treatment) of 10.50 ( SD±2.203). The test results obtained p-value = 0,000, therefore, there is a significant effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral group therapy program for reducing violence risk in persons with schizophrenia.Conclusion: The evident a significant effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral group therapy program for reducing violence risk in persons with schizophrenia. Suggestions to hospital management to be regularly to apply that therapy as an effort to help clients in control of their violent behavior.

Abstract

Background: Fatigue is one of the common complaints in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. It would affect the quality of life of clients with a prevalence of 92.2%. The conditions has no more attention and consider as normal, and sustainable for a long time, patient would be suffered the psychological problems. The health workers must care about that matter to prevent further complications. How to reduce or manage a fatigue to patients is recommended to do breathing exercises as non-pharmacological care.Purpose: Knowing the effects of relaxation breathing on fatigue in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysisMethods: The type of research used is quantitative quasi experimental, non equivalent, control group pre test and post test design. The population in this study were all patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis and with the sample of 76 respondents. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique.Results: The average levels a fatigue score before (50.18) and after having a breathing relaxation techniques was (46.45) with p value = 0.043 (<0.05). It can be concluded that deep breathing relaxation techniques has effects on the reduction in a fatigue in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at Raden Mattaher Jambi hospital.Conclusion: Deep breathing relaxation techniques can reduce reduction in a fatigue in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at Raden Mattaher Jambi hospital. Recommendation to hospital management to be applied a deep breathing relaxation techniques as standard of operational procedures (SOP) in the context of nursing care, especially to patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis  in hemodialysis ward.

Abstract

Background: Nowadays, cardiovascular diseases are considered as the most prevalent disease in developed countries and are main cause of mortality in all ages and races. Heart failure (HF) is a major public health issue in the world. An exercise program, developed based on the physical conditions of patients, can promote the quality of life in heart failure patients.Purpose: To examine the effect of exercise to improve quality of life among patient with Heart Failure.Methods: The electronic databases of PubMed, CINAHL, Trip, and Cochrane Systematic Reviews were searched. These databases were chosen based on their inclusion of allied health and medical journals, and those that contain studies relevant based exercise.Results:  The search terms included "heart failure", "exercise", "quality of life". We found 272 articles in all databased and got 1 for PubMed, 2 for Trip database that fit in criteria.Conclusion: Physical exercise has proved increasing quality of life among patients with heart failure. Improving patients exercise capacity and increasing their ability to perform more daily physical activity is expected to improve their quality of life. From the result finding of three evidences, we could see the significant finding on increasing quality of life after did physical exercise.

Abstract

Background: World Health Organization global database on women rarely pay attention to the cleanliness of their external genitalia, resulting in annual vaginal infections 10-15% by candida and 15% vaginal discharge. In Indonesia was a very few study on menstrual hygiene: knowledge and practice among adolescentPurpose: Knowing the influence of counseling on menstrual hygiene: knowledge and practice among adolescent school girls at Koawena, Ende district-IndonesiaMethods: The quantitative research by quasi-experiment design of one-group pretest-posttest approach. The population was adolescent school girls at Koawena, Ende district-Indonesia by total sampling were 17 respondents. Conducted on August, 2018. The analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis using the  paired T- test.Results: The bivariate test analysis showed differences in the level of knowledge before and after counseling on menstrual hygiene: knowledge and practice p-value = 0.034, indicating by increasing of the level of knowledge, would be followed by in a good practice in menstrual hygiene among adolescent school girls at Koawena, Ende district-Indonesia.Conclusion: The health practitioners need to come to adolescent school girls to give health education with the topic of menstrual hygiene: knowledge and practice.

Abstract

Background: Reported in Lampung Province, the prevalence of breast cancer cases has increased from 0.02% in 2010 to 0.7% in 2013. There were 1.030 cases. Two, Districts with the largest cases of breast cancer are west Lampung  (10%) and Pringsewu (9.8%).Purpose: To knowing the effectiveness of a nurse-delivered breast health promotion models on breast cancer early detection behaviors among women of childbearing period age.Methods: A quantitative study, the population were women of childbearing period age, and samples comprise 120 participant divided in four groups in each group consist 30 participant. 90 participant as intervention group and 30 participant as control group.  Independent t test was used in data analysis.Results: Shows there was no effect of education face to face with the booklet media and education face to face with the detection media cards, but there is a different result with education face to face with the combination of booklet and detection cards (p=0.004 mean difference= 0.767) on the behavior of early detection of breast cancer.Conclusion: The health practitioners should provide booklets together with the provision detection card to carry out routinely in preventive efforts. The study also recommends further research on active networking efforts and the efforts of palliative care for those diagnosed with breast cancer.

Abstract

Background: Hospital human resources and hospital organizations become one unit. This requires a female nurse to have a high commitment because she must be able to place her position as a woman employed and her responsibilities as a housewife. Career women who uphold the profession will be more likely to experience conflict.Purpose: To determine whether there is an effect of dual role conflict on performing nurses at the Medan City Private General Hospital and Deli Serdang.Method: This study uses a correlational design and cross-sectional. The sampling technique used total sampling. The population was married female nurses and had children who worked at the Medan Advent General Hospital and Sari Mutiara Lubuk Pakam  General Hospital, the nurses at Intensive Care Unit, inpatient and outpatient wards of 94 respondents.Results: The finding was 67% has a dual role category and 74.5% nurse performance in a good category, and by chi-square statistical test showed that there was a significant effect between multiple roles on performance as a nurse as a housewife with p-value = 0.045 (p<0.05).Conclusion:  Even though dual role conflict is happening in female nurses, that a nurse can still perform well even though she has a high dual role by remaining wise in managing time as effectively as possible so that she can still harmonize employed and housewife, and keep the nursing care services at the hospital provided remain optimal.

Abstract

Background: The Indonesian National Nurses Association (INNA) has a method and tool for staffing calculation-performance-oriented calculation based on information systemPurpose: To identify of satisfaction among hospital staff nurses on nurse staffing calculation-performance-oriented calculation based on  Indonesian National Nurses Association (INNA) on information systemMethod: The technique of determining the sample using the Cohen effect size (d) formula, the total sample is 30 nurses, divided by two groups, each group comprise 15 nurses  the as control group and intervention group 15. The pre-post test done for both groups. The training given to participants for two days and following by measured to identify of satisfaction among hospital staff nurses twice to control and intervention groups using a questionnaire.Results: The Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test and finding the data had abnormally distributed (p <0.05), and following by the Mann Whitney test. The results showed that all the participants showed an increase in nurse satisfaction on nurse staffing calculation-performance-oriented calculation based on  Indonesian National Nurses Association (INNA)Conclusion: There is a difference in the level of satisfaction between a control group and an intervention with a range of 4.66 points. Using nurse staffing calculation-performance-oriented calculation based on  Indonesian National Nurses Association (INNA) on information system, it applicable and reasonable to nurses to calculate nurse staffing in the hospital.

Abstract

Background: Universal precaution as a strategy recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in efforts to prevent infection and disease transmission among health workers, through the hospital Infection prevention and control (IPC) committee seeks to protect health workers and patients of the risk of transmitting the infection.Purpose: To determine the factors associated with the application of universal precautions in the prevention of infectious disease transmission in nurses at Lamaddukelleng Hospital, Wajo district.Method: A descriptive quantitative using cross-sectional design. The population is nurses at Lamaddukelleng Hospital, especially nurses in the emergency ward, with a total sampling of 28 respondents.Results: The Chi-Square test finding factor of nurses had a trained with p-value = 0.001 which shows that the nurses had a trained has a significant relationship to the application of universal precautions by nurses, while the availability of Infection prevention and control equipment facilities is p-value = 0.557 and the monitoring factor is p-value = 0.274, showing no relationship to the application of universal precautions by nurses.Conclusion: Shows that 75% of respondents have applied universal precautions. Suggestions to hospital management to be paying attention to provide Infection prevention and control equipment facilities and provide regular training, especially related to Infection Prevention and Control.

Abstract

Background: Republic of Indonesia's Health Survey in 2009, finding that the therapy through surgery was the 11th, because of surgery conduct in Indonesia in 2012 reached 1.2 million. The problem that often arises after surgery is a sleep disorder, pain and uncomfortable.Purpose: To identify effectiveness of foot massage on sleep quality among post-surgical patients in Dr. H Abdul Moeloek Hospital, Lampung-IndonesiaMethods: The design of this research is quasy experiment with pretest design with posttest with control group design. This type of quantitative research using consecutive sampling techniques. The population in the study were 64 participants. The analysis used is the dependent and independent t test.Results: Indicating the average score of sleep quality in the control group post intervention 9.12. Whereas sleep quality in the intervention group was obtained at 4.78 post intervention. A p-valeu 0.000 was obtained which showed differences in sleep quality scores both groups and interventions.Conclusion: There is effectiveness of foot massage on sleep quality among post-surgical patients in Dr. H Abdul Moeloek Hospital, Lampung-Indonesia. It is recommended that hospitals can include foot massage therapy as an alternative therapy in overcoming sleep disorders in postoperative clients.
