Abstract

Background: World consumption of hydrogels from synthetic polymers is more than one million tons per year (El Mohdi, 2009). This can cause serious environmental damage problems. According to Moorthy (2004), the amylose content of tapioca flour is in the range of 20-27%. Cassava has a high amylopectin content, with the addition of aloe vera, it is hoped that the gel will be safer and better for patients with sensitive skin problems (Jahan, 2020).Methods: Experimental with true experimental design using posttest only control group design. Results: Three different gel formulations were obtained, including A2 gel with a composition of 25 grams of cassava flour, 4 grams of aloe vera gel, 0.1 grams of methyl paraben and 75 mL of distilled water. Gel B2 with a composition of 25 grams of cassava flour, 4 grams of aloe vera gel, 0.1 grams of methyl paraben, 100 mL of distilled water. The composition of the C2 gel includes 25 grams of cassava flour, 4 grams of aloe vera gel, 0.1 grams of methyl paraben and 125 mL of distilled water. Gel A2 has a standard pH and spreadability. Conclusion: The results of the evaluation of the formula have shown conformity with the parameters set so that gel A2 was chosen to be the optimum formula. Keyword : Cassava, Gel, Ultrasonography.

Abstract

ABSTRACTNeuropathy is the classic and most common complication of DM. One of the early detection of diabetic sensory neuropathy is the Ipswich Touch Test. This study aims to analyze, compile and examine the results of published research articles containing the application of the IpTT method in detecting diabetic neuropathy. Desain of this research is a literature review. Article searches were carried out comprehensively through national and international indexed research journals databases such as Pubmed, Elsevier Clinical Key, and Google Scholar. who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research articles obtained were 6 articles, then all the articles obtained were synthesized and combined. The results of the analysis of six journals, there are five research journals with cross-sectional study and systematic review methods, stated that the IpTT examination is significant for detecting diabetic neuropathy, which is evidenced by having a sensitivity ranging from 51-83.3% and a specificity of 90-96, 6% which means it has higher accuracy than the monofilament test. Meanwhile, another journal that uses a cross-sectional study states that the results are not significant/there is no difference between the IpTT examination and the monofilament test, this is because the researchers did not characterize DM respondents in their research. In general, five of the six journals recommend that the IpTT examination can be a reliable method, does not require special costs or tools, and is easy to apply in primary health care and in inpatient care for early detection of diabetic neuropathy.

Abstract

ABSTRACT            Aloe Vera and Citrus Limon are herbal plants that have various properties as antibacterial and antimicrobial. The active ingredients in aloe vera are anthraquinones, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids and phenolics from phytochemical tests that act as antimicrobials and antibacterials. The substance that has many antibacterial properties in lemons is citric acid which is the main organic acid contained in lemon juice. Streptococcus sp is a bacterium commonly found after tooth extraction.                     This study aims to determine the effectiveness of aloe vera and citrus limon extracts as antibacterials with Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) against Streptococcus sp. Using Quasy Experiment pretest-posttest with control group design. Sampling was done by identifying tooth extraction tools exposed to Streptococcus sp media Nutrient Agar (NA). Bacterial testing using spectrophotometry is a fast way to count the number of bacteria in a solution using the liquid dilution method. Subjects were the concentration intervention group, namely 50%, 45%, 35%, 20%, 15%, 10%, 5%. This research uses a pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory and a microbiology laboratory. The results showed that the 5% concentration had effective bacterial inhibition against Streptococcus sp as evidenced by a large absorption value. The conclusion shows the combination of Aloe Vera and Citrus Limon extracts had a greater inhibitory power against Streptococcus sp.
