Abstract

Introduction: The Acceleration Program and the International Standard School Pilot Project (RSBI) are currently being held in Indonesia. Previous research stated that the anxiety of students with acceleration was higher than that of non-accelerated students (regular). Currently, the regular program has mainly been replaced by the RSBI program. This research was conducted to determine differences in the level of anxiety of students who take the accelerated program and the RSBI program. Methods: The study was conducted using a cross-sectional method, and the sampling was determined by purposive sampling. This study took the population of students of Junior High School 1 Purwokerto. Primary data were collected in the form of friendship quality questionnaires, Rahe-Holmes Social Readjustment Rating Scale life events questionnaire, body image questionnaire (Body Shape Questionnaire) and TMAS anxiety questionnaire (Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale). Results: Accelerated students who experienced anxiety above the average were 8 (40%) students and 12 (60%) students experienced anxiety below average. Non-accelerated students (RSBI) who experienced anxiety above the average were 15 (75%) students and 5 (25%) students experienced anxiety below average. Conclusion: There is a significant difference in the level of anxiety of students who take the acceleration program and RSBI, where the anxiety of RSBI students is more than that of accelerated students.

Abstract

Introduction: Meningiomas are primary extra-axial tumours of the central nervous system (CNS) with an incidence of 2 in 100,000 in adults. There is an estimate of a 3: 1 female predominance of these tumours mainly due to the action of estrogen. Meningiomas are commonly associated with headaches, imbalances, visual disturbances, and other neurological problems which can be very debilitating. This case report will describe a case of a brain tumour accompanied by psychiatric disorders. Case presentation: Mrs. W, a 37 years old woman, a housewife, Javanese, Moslem, married, and lower socioeconomic background, came with her family to the Neurology polyclinic because she experienced changes in behavior seven months ago in the form of much silence, daydreaming, cannot communicate, sometimes talking to herself, eating drinking and bathing must be helped and served. Four months before being admitted to the hospital, the patient's headaches worsened and the patient became increasingly withdrawn, accompanied by weakness in both legs. From the results of CT-scan with contrast, the results showed that the meningioma infiltrates and perifocal oedema, which caused subfalcine herniation as far as 2.73 cm to the right. Conclusion: Infiltrative meningioma is often accompanied by mental disorders in the form of personality changes, depressive-like symptoms and neurological symptoms. Clinicians should be able to detect a brain mass so that management can be undertaken immediately.

Abstract

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder is a biological disease in brain function that is chronic, which results in the function of regulating response and decision making (executive function) not following the child's age development. Pharmacological therapy, especially methylphenidate, is still the primary therapy, even though it is not responsive to drugs. Multimodal therapy is a recommended therapy for ADHD treatment in Europe and the United States, which includes psycho-pharmaceutical therapy, behavioural therapy and family psycho-education. The administration of behaviour therapy alone does not provide satisfactory results, especially for long-term effects. Neurofeedback therapy is a form of behavioural therapy, with the principle of operant conditioning, which aims to train and condition the brain, with feedback from the brain's electrical waves. This paper aims to explain how far the benefits of neurofeedback therapy for people living with ADHD are based on available research data from the latest research results.

Abstract

Introduction: Organic mental disorders are diseases we need to put more attention to because they are related to systemic disorders or disorders of the brain and can cause high mortality. Organic mental disorders often manifest in the form of psychiatric symptoms so that they can be treated too late because the physician is not able to recognize the symptoms which can be fatal. Sequelae can be found in organic mental disorders and may affect the patient’s quality of life, so fast and proper management is needed to get a better outcome. Case presentation: A case of organic hallucinosis in viral encephalitis had been reported in an 18-year-old male with a history of sudden changes in behavior. The symptoms appeared after the patient had problems during OSPEK and was threatened by someone. The patient was the only child in the family and was often spoiled by his parents. Laboratory and imaging studies showed that there was a cerebritis in the CT scan result, a decrease in CD4 count, and an increase in anti-Rubella IgG titers in which the patient was finally diagnosed with viral encephalitis. Conclusion: The diagnosis of organic mental disorders can easily be overlooked in daily clinical practice so patients do not receive proper management.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is one of the most common and well-known psychotic disorders that inhibits neurodevelopmental processes and has detrimental effects on cognitive, affective and social functions. Schizophrenia constitutes 1% of the general population, in the US there are more than 300.000 episodes of acute schizophrenia appearing per year. From epidemiolo.ical data on children and adolescents, it was found that less than 1/10.000 suffered from childhood schizophrenia, also found more in boys to adolescence, and the ratio was almost the same after adolescence as in adults. Early detection is needed so that schizophrenia that occurs especially in childhood does not develop into a chronic condition with a worsening prognosis.
