Abstract

The availability of modules to support basic electronic practices based on virtual laboratories has not yet met the needs. The purpose of this development research is to produce basic electronic practice learning devices based on the PSPICE application program. The development procedure uses ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). ADDIE is used to direct the design process as specified. Product performance was tested using ongoing formative evaluation. The product feasibility test uses a comparative analysis of the results of the PSPICE experiment against the theory. The results show that all modules developed can display the same characteristics as their theoretical character. The results show that the modules have very good performance. Modules are suitable for use as a medium for basic electronic practice using PSPICE-based virtual laboratories. The products are in the form of electronic circuits with 31 schematic PSPICE formats. Product results to support basic electronic practices covering topics: capacitor filling and discharging, RC circuits, diode characteristics, wave forming circuits, rectifier circuits, voltage clamp, voltage circuits, transistor characteristics, and amplifier transistor.

Abstract

This study investigated the level of physical facilities adequacy and instructional resources utilization for teaching and learning effectiveness in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes. A quantitative research design was used, with a sample of 700 participants (85 lecturers and 615 students) which was randomly selected across three Federal Universities in South-South, Nigeria. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data from TVET lecturers and students. Mean, standard deviation and t-test were used for data analyses. Physical facilities were found to be inadequate for teaching and learning processes in TVET programmes. Also, instructional resources were found to be underutilized during teaching and learning in TVET programmes. One of the recommendations made for the study is that TVET managers should endeavour to collaborate with major stakeholders for the provision of funds that would assist in ensuring adequate provision of physical facilities for effective teaching and learning processes in TVET programmes. As such, this would further help to foster the conducive environment for teaching and learning of TVET courses, which in turn, would help in equipping students with the skills to pursue entrepreneurial careers and lifelong learning upon graduation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop Macromedia Flash teaching materials to increase student learning outcomes and to determine the feasibility of Macromedia Flash-based teaching materials. This research is research and development (R & D) using the 4D development model. This study involved subjects namely students of Grade X of Muhammadiyah Mungkid Vocational School and Salaman Muhammadiyah Vocational School. Data analysis uses quantitative data analysis. The analysis used was an independent sample t-test using SPSS version 17. The results of the development produced a product in the form of Macromedia Flash-based learning media on the subject of negotiation text for learning Bahasa Indonesia. The results of the research suggest that there are differences in the average score of student learning outcomes before and after using Macromedia Flash media. The percentage of students reaching the passing grade of 75 before using Macromedia Flash or conventional media is 9% and after using Macromedia Flash media to 68.3%. The result of calculated-t value is 10.3 while the t-table is 1.657. The t-test analysis proves that Macromedia Flash learning media is suitable for Bahasa Indonesia learning, especially on the subject of negotiation text. Moreover, the learning is more effective than using conventional learning media.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out what vocational skills education was implemented in SMP Muhammadiyah Majenang, a private junior high school in Cilacap, Central Java, and to find out how to develop vocational skills education to foster the students’ entrepreneurial intention. It is expected that this vocational skill can foster entrepreneurial intention to the students themselves early, to make them the young entrepreneurs. This research was a research and development with a qualitative approach. Research and development were modified from the ten steps of Borg and Gall, consisting of three stages, namely: preliminary study, model development, and model testing. Participants involved included the principal, representative of the curriculum deputy, teachers, advisers, and students. The data collection techniques used questionnaires, observation, interviews, and document studies. The results of the study found the existence of extracurricular activities in the form of self-development game activities. Self-development game is indicated by the achievement in certain fields. The results of the development found that the existence of agricultural extracurricular activities in the form of chili cultivation could foster the students’ entrepreneurial intentions. We found that the positive attitudes and abilities of entrepreneurship were possessed by students, including selling chili crops and chili seeds to the general public. The program for developing extracurricular activities also produces vocational skills in the form of students who independently plant seeds other than chili and inspire students to sell other seeds.
