<![CDATA[Penelitian ini membahas tentang sikap bahasa mahasiswa Manajemen Perhotelan semester III Universitas Dhyana Pura Bali terhadap bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan: a) sikap bahasa mahasiswa Manajemen Perhotelan semester III Universitas Dhyana Pura Bali terhadap bahasa Inggris, dan b) faktor yang memengaruhi sikap bahasa pada mahasiswa Manajemen Perhotelan semester III Universitas Dhyana Pura Bali terhadap bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan berlandaskan pada teori Sosiolinguistik tentang sikap bahasa. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen pengumpulan data terdiri atas observasi dan wawancara. Observasi dilaksanakan untuk mandapatkan data sikap bahasa mahasiswa. Wawancara terbagi dalam dua jenis, yaitu wawancara terbuka dan wawancara terstruktur berupa kuesioner. Kedua jenis wawancara ini dilaksanakan untuk mendapatkan data faktor yang memperngaruhi sikap bahasa mahsasiswa.Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa sikap bahasa mahasiswa terhadap bahasa Inggris cenderung positif. Namun dalam hal tertentu, seperti dalam penguasaan bahasa Inggris yaitu dalam ketrampilan menulis cenderung kurang positif, masih ditemukan beberapa ketidaksesuaian yang ditunjukkan oleh mahasiswa dalam perihal penguasaan menulis dalam bahasa Inggris yang menurut standar tata bahasa Inggris dengan apa yang telah dipelajari. Faktor yang memperngaruhi sikap bahasa mahasiswa terdiri atas dua bagian yaitu faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. Faktor internal sikap bahasa mahasiswa terdiri atas: a) pemahamam mahasiswa bahwa perilaku berbahasa Inggris memerlukan proses pembelajaran yang serius, b) sikap bahasa mahasiwa terhadap bahasa Inggris dari diri responden itu sendiri yang menyukai bahasa Inggris. Faktor eksternal yaitu pengaruh dari sikap bahasa mahasiswa itu sendiri yang dilihat dari aspek kognitif, afektif dan konatif yang dihubungkan dengan faktor lingkungan kampus sebagai mendukung perilaku berbahasa Inggris, dan keberterimaan masyarakat terhadap perilaku berbahasa Inggris.]]>

This research is qualitative research namely analysis of content with interactive and converstional models. Interactive was found that advertisement maker has a point of view that all consumers have the same position. Whereas in conversationally was found that the advertisment maker has the purpose to persuade consumers as well as instill the belief in the community that the shampoo can provide best solution of consumers’ hair. The advertisments that are served to be able to master the social cultural market and manufacturers can get benefit in social cultural market.]]>

<![CDATA[Pragmatic competence refers to the capacity to use a language effectively in order to fulfill a certain goal and to understand language in context. When people are unable to understand what is meant by what is said, the result is communication will breakdown, and so called pragmatic failure. Some factors cause pragmatic failure; firstly, failure to express or interpret speaker-meaning in which communication breaks down if either level of meanings (sense and reference) or (force or value) is not successfully produced or interpreted. Secondly, failure to observe cultural values in which social conditions on language in use are different and utterer or the interpreter fails to observe the cultural values. Thirdly, culture-specific pragmatic features; mental sets: a frame of mind involving an existing disposition to think of a problem or a situation in a particular way. The implications of pragmalinguistic failure to teaching second and foreign language teaching are that first, learners need to understand why such conventions are accepted. Second, language learners need to understand what native speakers mean when they use the language. Third, teacher is expanding students' knowledge and understanding of L2 pragmatic features regarding positive/negative pragmatic transfer from their first language (L1). Next, adult learners rely heavily on universal or L1 based pragmatic knowledge. Finally, teachers must be sufficiently socialized to L2 pragmatic practices, so that they can comfortably draw on those practices as part of their communicative and cultural repertoire.]]>

<![CDATA[This study is a qualitative research on implicatures entitled” a pragmatic analysis of Implicatures Used in The Sport Column of The Jakarta Post newspaper”. It answers the categories of Implicatures Used in The Sport Column of The Jakarta Post newspaper, aiming at finding their types and functions. Data of this research are qualitative in type and sentence containing Implicatures taken from The Jakarta Post. In gathering the data, this research used metode simak (observing method). Extraingual method was used to analyze the data to find out the principles or rules of implicature types. This research shows that there are three types of implicatures most frequently used in the Jakarta post headlines published on June 2013 namely conventional and conversational implicature. Conventional implicature tells the non-truth conditional in the sport column of The Jakarta Post newspaper which inferences that are not derived from super ordinate pragmatic principle like the maxims, but are simply attached by convention of particular lexical items or expression. <![CDATA[Sebagai negara kepulauan yang memiliki puluhan hingga ratusan suku, Indonesia memiliki ragam jenis upacara pernikahan yang berbeda. Setiap daerah memiliki upacara pernikahan yang unik, sehingga siapa saja yang melihatnya bisa jadi ingin segera menikah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan makna ideologis serta esensi ideologi yang terkandung didalam Mangan Merangkat pada Suku Sasak Lombok Tengah. Metode yang digunakan dalam proses pengambilan data sampai pada proses interpretasi data adalah dengan mencoba untuk melakukan penetrasi budaya kepada masyarakat dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari analisa ini adalah pada acara mangan merangkat kita tidak hanya melihat nilai materi yang dibawa masyarakat akan tetapi ada hal yang jauh lebih penting yaitu yaitu patuh dan taat pada Allah. SWT, pimpinan dan aturan yang ada. Ada dua idiologi utama yang terkandung didalam mangan merangkat suku sasak di Lombok Tengah bagian selatan, yaitu pertama; Adanya bentuk kerjasama yang sangat mendasar sebagai bentuk kepedulian masyarakat terhadap sesama. Hal ini sejalan dengan perintah Allah dalam Al qur’an: “tolong menolonglah kamu dalam hal kebaikan dan taqwa dan janganlah kamu tolong menolong dalam hal keburukan”. Hal ini tercermin dalam kegiatan mangan merangkat. Tanpa diminta, masyarakat dengan penuh kesadaran gotong royong atau biasa dalam bahasa sasak kami berikan istilah beriuk tinjal. Kedua , ada pula nilai lain yang dapat diambil dari acara ini yaitu; laki-laki ingin menunjukkan keberanian dan kesetiaannya sebagai calon suami yang siap mempertaruhkan nyawanya demi sang calon isteri.]]>

<![CDATA[Mass media is one of the great services utilized by people who have the purpose of selling goods and providing services to the public. Mass media is the right market to promote an item or service so that choosing the right diction is a must. The purpose of this study is to identify the meaning of the sentence in the Sampoerna Mild cigarette advertisement "nggak ada Loe, nggak Rame". The research method used is descriptive qualitative using an approach that are hermeneutic and semiotic. The results of the study show that the choice of words in the advertisement has a very persuasive and interesting meaning which has very close social relations. The meaning of " nggak ada Loe, nggak Rame" is a good diction for teenagers who are quickly affected to their peers. This is because teenagers are more likely to like to hang out with their teenage friends. Language, culture and society have strong and good connection.]]>

<![CDATA[This research is aimed to analyze students needs related to reading authentic materials for Second Semester of University Students at IKIP Mataram and to create suitable materials for them based on their needs and their interest. The date of research was collected through giving interview for the lecturer and questionnaire for the students. The data was processed by using frequencies and percentages. In this research SPSS program also was used to process the data. The result of data analysis showed that total means score of all indicators showed that the materials that was developed ‘fairly good’, where the means score of the quality of content was 3.60, the quality of language was 3.00, the quality of supporting video materials was 3.00, the materials was 3.25 and total means score of all indicators was 3.21. The result of reliability was 0.54, and Chronbach’s Alpha was used to get the result.]]>

<![CDATA[Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk's (RDP) literary work is a part of the work considered in the world because in some countries the literary work is one of the materials studied by students as academic studies. The purpose of this study is to examine the nature of RDP's work by looking at the ontology of the creation of these literary works. This research uses sociology of literature approach by looking at the relation between the literary works with the community context. The results of this study are that the RDP literature illustrates the tense state of political struggle and social conditions at that time. This work also explains the atmosphere of a small village with various community characters full of erotic lifestyles. This is illustrated through the Ronggeng figure namely Srintil and the inner complication of Rasus who hates the inaugural process of Srintil who will become ronggeng. One of the night process of not having mosquito nets is a ritual to become a ronggeng. Auctions of virginity like this occur in the Hamlet of Paruk, the value of sexuality highlighted by Tohari as one of the harsh criticisms that women are more valued and protected. Literary works in the form of novels written by Tohari are not only literary works that can be read and enjoyed, but Tohari emphasizes on moral values that must be imbedded in community.]]>

<![CDATA[This research describes about directive utterances in the Venom movie manuscript. The aim of this research is to identify form of directives and classify the function of directives utterances. To identify and classify directive utterances, researcher uses specch act theory (locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary act). The data source of directive utterances is in the movie The Venom manuscript. The researcher uses observation and documentation methods in gathering data. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The result of this study shows that the most of directive utterances in the movie The Venom manuscript is imperative sentences (13 data or 60%), declarative sentences (6 data or 30%), and introgative sentences (1 data or 10%). The function of directive is commanding, suggesting, requesting, and prohibiting.]]>
