Abstract

Abstract The intensity of excessive internet use through electronic media can increase the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome, which is a musculoskeletal disorder involving the human body system such as skeletal, nerve, and muscle. This relates to hand positions and repetitive movements such as tapping, swiping and scrolling. The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between the intensity of internet use with the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome in the students of the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Klabat. The research method uses descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. 216 students from various levels have become respondents in this study, selected through purposive sampling. The results of this study found out that there was a positive and significant relationship between the intensity of internet use with symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome with p = 0,000 (r = 0.33), where the higher the intensity of internet use the higher the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Based on the results of study researchers suggest that students can use the internet wisely for things that are useful, both in lecture activities and daily life. Abstract

Untuk mengukur tingkat pengetahuan digunakan kuesioner The Palliative Care Quiz for Nursing (PCQN), sedangkan untuk mengukur sikap digunakan kuesioner Frommelt’s Attitude Toward Care of the Dying (FATCOD) scale.

Abstract

A valid nursing diagnosis is very important in nursing care. Clinical indicators are required to validate nursing diagnoses to reduce the risk of misdiagnosis. The accuracy of clinical indicators is determined by the limitation of characteristics and related factors. The purpose of this study was to describe the characteristics nursing diagnosis of impaired physical mobility. This research was a descriptive study conducted by assessment through observation in clinical practice. There were 20 records of stroke patient documentation used in this study. The results showed that the limitations of the main characteristics that emerged in stroke patients were dyspnea after activity (90%), gait disorder (100%), slow motion (100%), spastic movements (100%), uncoordinated movements (100%), posture instability (100%), difficulty flipping position (100%), limited range of motion (100%), discomfort (100 %), decreased fine motoric skills (90%), decreased gross motoric skills (100%), and moving tremor (90%). Nurses are expected to focus on main characteristics that arise during the assessment of stroke patients with nursing diagnoses of impaired physical mobility in order to plan effective nursing actions. For further investigators it is recommended to use valid instruments in conducting the assessment so that these characteristics can be a more accurate indicator in nursing diagnosis.

Abstract

During pregnancy and birth, for mother and newborn baby are the focuses of attention. Many times fathers are left out. This study aimed to determine if personality correlates to paternal postnatal depression. The study used descriptive correlational design, where in data from 177 respondents gathered through purposive sampling. Personality in term of extraversion and neuroticism were significantly related to paternal postnatal depression. Neuroticism was positively correlated to paternal postnatal depression but agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness were not significantly correlated to paternal postnatal depression. This implies that those fathers who scored high in extraversion have low tendency to experience paternal postnatal depression. However, the higher the score in neuroticism the higher in the tendency to experience paternal postnatal depression. From result of this study, researcher have recommendations for nurse educator should emphasize to the future nurse and to the professional nurse that fathers experiences postnatal depression like mothers. When giving health teaching both in the community and in the hospital, nurse educator should consider discussing the topic of postnatal depression. They too should encourage the husbands or fathers to attend the health education activity. Another study can be done comparing the postnatal depression experience by the wife and husband.
