Abstract

Cigarettes are the biggest health problem around the world. Nicotine in cigarettes has been proved insulin receptor resistance and can reduce insulin secretion in pancreatic β cells, which causes an increase in blood glucose levels. One of the efforts to reduce blood glucose levels is to consume vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is a prohormone that plays a role in metabolic functions in cells and repair functions of cells. Purpose: to know the effect of vitamin D3 toward glucose blood level of male Rattus norvegicus Wistar exposed by cigarette smoke. Methods: This research conducted with pure experimental pre- and post-test with control group design. The samples used were 24 male rats. The sample divided into four groups, including K1, K2, K3, and P1. K1, which is not exposed by cigarette smoke and not given of vitamin D3. K2 is a group exposed by cigarette smoke but not given vitamin D3. K3 is a group that is not exposed by cigarette smoke but given vitamin D3 a dose of 0.2 µgr /head. P1 is a group exposed by cigarette smoke and given a vitamin D3 dose of 0.2 µgr /head. Results: Paired T-test showed increased blood glucose levels that are meaningful (p<0,05) In groups K2 (p=0,018) and P1 (p=0,035). One-way Anova showed there were differences in blood glucose levels that are meaningful between groups (p=0,001). Statistical analysis Post Hoc LSD showed significant differences in group K1 with K2 (p=0,004), group K1 with K3 (p=0,038), group K1 with P1 (p=0,038), group K2 with K3 (p=0,000), group K2 with P1 (p=0,004). Conclusion: Vitamin D3 can reduce fasting blood glucose levels of Rattus norvegicus exposed by cigarette smoke.

Abstract

Nowadays, developing contraception methods were mostly addressed to women. The development of male contraception was still limited. There were condoms, vasectomies, and interrupted intercourse, which used in male contraception. The condom method and interrupted intercourse have a high failure rate and inconvenience in its use. The vasectomy method is invasive and expensive. The development of molecular-based contraceptive methods with minimal impacts on health is expected to be a good breakthrough in the context of population control and improving the quality of health. The study aims to summarize and analyze the early development of contraception until the invention of molecular contraception through immunologic, proteomic, and metabolomics science. This article review was done by studying literature in the PubMed Central (PMC), Springer, and Open Access ScienceDirect databases. The search was performed with the keywords "Contraception", "Molecular Contraception", "Male Contraception", and "Immunocontraception". Journal articles that fit the theme of the review are then reviewed by paraphrasing the core of the research. The conclusion drawn from the review is that male contraception using the molecular method is still being developed at a pre-clinical experimental stage using animal laboratory technique and in vitro technique. The key to the success of this molecular method is that the more specific the molecular target at male fertility levels, the better of contraceptive effect. The molecular- based contraception is expected to be a breakthrough in terms of population control that have more effective, safe, and comfortable, especially for male contraception

Abstract

Child development‘s delay in Indonesia based on the Indonesia Ministry of Health was 16% of a total toddler in Indonesia. The various factors affecting the child’s development, such as the stimulation of the educative game instrument (EGI). Increase of the use of EGI in other countries proportional to the child’s development aspect but not in Indonesia. To know the overview of the motor development level of preschool-aged children towards the educative game instrument at Dian Cipta Cendekia (DCC) Global School Kindergarten 2019. A descriptive quantitative study by using an observational approach was performed. The data were collected using a review of the school report, the use of the EGI, and the ability to follow the commands based on Denver II categories. This research was done during November 2019. There were six samples from class b taken using a total sampling method. 1 of 6 children failed by following 1 of 12 activities based on Denver II. One of them couldn’t use the climbing frames properly, and based on the school report, 1 of 6 children stated as not developing yet by knowing the traffic sign. The level of using EGI proportional to the child’s development aspect. The frequency distribution of the use of EGI shown 91,7% good. An overview of motor development level based on school report shown 54,2% normal development and 100% normal by Denver II.

Abstract

Abnormalities lip and palate or cleft lip commonly called congenital abnormality or labioschizis is a gap between the right and/or left lip. The incidence of cleft lip with or without cleft palate is one per 700-1000 births worldwide and Asians have the highest risk. Giving birth at the age of 35 years and over, babies who are born susceptible to genetic abnormalities. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal age of ≥35 years with labioschizis incident. This study used cross-sectional design: Retrospective, data was collected from the medical records during the period 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018. The number of samples of 138 respondents, data was analyzed using the chi-square test with a significance level of ρvalue < 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had labioschizis namely 65.9%, while 34.1% of respondents experienced palatoschizis and labiognatoschizis. The lives of most mothers with children experiencing labioschizis are ≥35 years of age is 57.1%. The results of the study there was no correlation between a maternal age ≥ 35 years with the incidence labioschizis with value 0.793 ρvalue means sig >0.05. However, based on the data that researchers get the respondent with maternal age of 35 years tend to have labioschizis, meaning that the older a pregnant woman would be more risk of having babies with labioschizis.
