Abstract

The lack of inter-religion relations causes misconceptions that often lead to prejudice. Religious education from schools to higher education based on one religion alone is the cause of the low religion literacy of the other. Strict restrictions on openly discussing inter-religious topics under the pretext of SARA (Suku, Agama, Ras, dan Antargolongan [SARA]; discrimination against ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup) in the public sphere also strengthen inter-religious barriers. As a result, knowledge about the religious life of minorities is increasingly marginalized and often leads to pressure and violence. Although not responding to the violence in an attitude that escalates the conflict. Buddhists in Indonesia seem to be trying to explain various misconceptions about their beliefs in various ways such as inter-faith seminars, music, and popular literature. In addition, Buddhist story stories also reveal Buddhist views on other religions and local traditions related to spiritual beliefs. Thus, this paper describes the representation of Buddhist view to local faith tradition, Buddhist self-explanation against the misconceptions towards their religious faith and practice, and Buddhist view towards others. In this case, this study fills the void of attention to Buddhist literature in the realm of religious literature, especially in the context of its role in interfaith dialogue

Abstract

One of the major problems faced by countries around the globe during this pandemic is providing high-quality education services that can be accessed by all students. This learning difficulty that has become a symptom in various parts of the world has been seen only as a matter of ownership and mastery of technology. This understanding is incorrect and wrong in understanding reality. This has an impact on the formulation of action plans for solving problems during a pandemic. This paper aims to show the side of the challenge that can be interpreted as an opportunity. Distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic is an essential shift in educational traditions. The data in this research was obtained from online surveys and in-depth interviews that involving students and teachers from various regions in Indonesia. Data from surveys and in-depth interviews were analyzed through the restatement, description, and interpretation stages. The results showed that learning difficulties were caused more by a lack of understanding of the essence of technology-based learning. This has an impact on the difficulty of changing the mindset, and perspective of the current learning reality. Most people still depend on and consider the traditional face-to-face learning method in the classroom as the only best strategy in the educational process compared to online systems. In other words, the existence of an educational paradigm transformation that aims to create student independence in education is still difficult to accept as a necessity. With this understanding, not only the reality of the pandemic can be understood more contextually, but also problem-solving efforts can be formulated with the right target. This paper suggests the need for further research to accommodate a larger sample and involving more representative informants to enable comparative analysis.

Abstract

The neurodiversity paradigm has been described in terms of three basic principles: a) neurodivergence is something that is natural; b) there is no single correct type of brain; and c) dynamics relating to social power are at play. This paradigm can be viewed from various aspects including those of generating knowledge, challenging power, and taking an ethical position. Challenging this latter viewpoint, and as guided by the critical analysis method, this paper offers evidence indicating that the neurodiversity paradigm is indeed facing an ethical crisis. This crisis is proposed to originate from an ideological preference as predominantly held by neurodiversity paradigm proponents. These persons tend to embrace the social model that sees disability as originating from unequal social structures, while typically rejecting a medical model that recognises disorder. This paper reveals the prospect of a shift towards an inclusive neurodiversity paradigm, whose qualified acceptance of medical and social models, in turn supports greater individual expressions.
