Tropical forests in the area of ??small islands have their own uniqueness. Its biodiversity and ecology depend on highly complex and interconnected systems. Managing forests in small islands in a sustainable manner require extensive application in various scientific disciplines. The small island forest journal (JHPPK) is a periodical scientific article and conceptual thinking on tropical forest management that covers all aspects of forest planning, forest policy, utilization of forest resources, forest society, forest ecology, forest inventory, silviculture, ecotourism, and regional ecosystem management. JHPPK also welcomes topics that directly or indirectly support the management of tropical forests, eg, economics, anthropology, social, and environment.

Abstract

As beef cattle, Bali cattle which rearing by the breeder in Raja Ampat regency most in the traditional extensive system. There are many factors to support beef cattle development in this region such as widely land condition with grass forage and feed concentrate as feed for cattle. The objectives of this study were to identification and analysis beef cattle development in Raja Ampat regency base on region and breed potential. Using survey method by interview to 218 of respondent and field observation were done in Sakabu, Kalobo and Waijan Village which tended as the center of beef cattle breeding. The result showed that beef cattle development reach out for 17,792.55 UT, but in productivity factor, Bali cattle in Raja Ampat was small in body weight. To increase beef cattle production and population can be done by reduced beef productive selling and by using an integrated farming system. Based on the potential of territory, the capability of beef cattle development in Raja Ampat regency can reach 17,792,55 ST, so from that number, the research location is potential to be directed to be the beef cattle development area. However, when viewed from the aspect of productivity, beef cattle are maintained have a lower body weight than other regions, indicating a decrease in performance and genetic quality. Reduction in the number of livestock sales in the population and the application of crop-livestock integration systems can be the solution.

Abstract

The Chicken broiler is a type of superior race chicken that has high genetic properties, especially in growth. The use of herbs as medicines in medicine is now starting to increase, which is evident from the many traditional drugs manufacturers on the market. One of the herbs that can be used as an antibiotic for livestock is basil (Ocimum sp). Basil contains beta-carotene (provitamin A), which supports the function of vision, improves antibody function (influences immune function), protein synthesis to support growth process and as the antioxidant (Adnyana and Firmansyah, 2006). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of basil leaves flour up to 12% level against broiler performance. The experiment was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD). The results of statistical analysis showed that the addition of basil meal powder into the feed did not affect to feed consumption between levels (P> 0). The result of the statistical analysis showed that the addition of basil meal powder into the feed had no effect (P> 0,05) to the increase in body weight. The result of the statistical analysis showed that the treatment with the addition of basil powder into the feed had no effect (P> 0,05) to feed conversion. The result of this research can be concluded that the addition of basil powder into feed up to 12% level did not give significantly different effect on production performance such as feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion of the broiler.

Abstract

This study concerns the Effect of Addition of virgin coconut oil on Production performance at the Boiler Finisher Phase. The study was conducted on March 10 to April 5, 2017, at Kampung Kaliharapan Nabire District, Papua Province. This research was designed using Randomized Complete Design with four treatments and each treatment got 5 repetitions so that 20 units of the experiment were obtained, each the experiment unit consisted of 3 (three) chickens. The tested treatment is giving of various doses of pure coconut oil mixed with drinking water that is: Without pure coconut oil as control, 5cc / 100 dose chicken, Dosage 10 cc / 100 chicken, and Dosage 15 cc / 100 head/ chicken. The observed variable is Weight gain (gr / head / day), feed consumption (gr / head / day) and Feed conversion (FCR). The data were analyzed experimentally if there was any difference it would be carried out the further test with Duncan Multiple Test. The results of the study showed that all treatments treated with VCO could increase the body weight of chicken broiler, ie, increase significantly occurred from week V to VII, more efficient in consuming feed and the higher the doses given the lower the feed conversion rate. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the addition of VCO has a significant effect on the increase of body weight and the decrease of the feed conversion rate at broiler Finisher phase. The higher given dose tends to increase body weight and decrease the feed conversion rate. The best or more efficient VCO dosage for finisher phase of broiler chicken is 15 cc / 100.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of addition garlic powder (Allium sativum L) on broiler production performance. This study was conducted for 4 weeks using Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments, and each treatment was repeated 3 times, with the number of chickens per unit trial of 3 chicken. The treatments were various levels of garlic powder (commercial) dissolved in drinking water, P0 (without garlic powder), P1 (with 0.5% white flour or 5 gr / liter), P2 (with garlic powder 1.0% or 10 gr / liter), and P3 (with garlic powder 1.5% or 15 gr / liter). Treatment begins at the time of chicken age 1 week until age 4 weeks, with the interval time of 2 days. Variable observed included dietary intake, weight gain, and the conversion of ransum. The results showed that giving garlic powder did not give a significantly effect (P> 0,05) to production performance either to ransum consumption, body weight gain and ransum conversion. The numerical consumption of ransum, and ransum conversion decreased with increasing of garlic starch level, while the highest chicken body weight increased in P1 treated group and the lowest in P3 treated group.

Abstract

This research objectives were to investigate possibility of using the waste of sago cortex (Ela sagu/Wa’a) in the manufacture of cement board and to determine the physical properties of cement board based on the comparison in proportion of materials (cement, sago, water) and catalyst calcium chloride (CaCl2). Method were applied used completely randomesed design with tree replications in 3x3x3, with total 27 samples of cement board. The results shown that the waste of sago cortex ca be applied as raw materials to manufacture of cement board and fulfill the standard of particle board (JIS A 5908, 2003). The board have dencity which is almost equal to the target of dencity, lower value in water content, water absorption and thichness swelling so that have good performance in quality and stability dimensions. The sago cortex in side of base and the catalyst CaCl2 in 6% gave high performance for all physical properties of cement board.

Abstract

The streamflow hydrograph recession curve notes that behavior of the relationship between the aquifer structure and dependencies with the groundwater outflow towards river basin channel. The recession behavior of river basin hydrographs will investigate to understand the hydrology processes of the river basin in the future. This research was conducted with the aim: to analyze the characteristics of the baseflow recession based on the parameters and coefficients of the recession, and the shape of the individual recession curve and the master recession curves both manually and through the processing of genetic algorithms using a linear reservoir model of hydrooffice software package recession curve (RC) 4.0. The results of the visualization of the recession curve shape of the watershed of the research shows there is a very interesting trend in the watershed storage process.The characteristics of the baseflow recession to research watershed with the recession curve slope describe the baseflow recession conditions, especially excellent water storage. The river basin of Keduang have the form of a relatively sloping recession curves, both individual and master recession curve with relatively high recession constant ranged between 0,80 – 0,90 have baseflow recession characteristic is excellent, i.e. the watershed water storage which is the higher volume of water storage.

Abstract

Objective of the study was to determine shrinkage of three species of rattan, such as Tohiti (Calamus inops Becc), Batang Air (Daemonorops robustus Warb), Manau (Calamus manan Miq). Two factors was applied in the study was growing site (<100m, 100-200m, >200m) and species of rattan. Result of the study indicated that species of rattan was affected the shrinkage from green to air dry condition. Growing site was affected the shrinkage green to oven dry condition. Shrinkage from green to air dry condition was 1.25% -7.43% and shrinkage from air dry to oven dry condition was 0.37 % - 1.81 %.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the composition of bird diversity and vegetation stages and composition, to determine the variables that most influence the diversity of birds in protected forests Sirimau, This study was conducted for three months from September 2015 to November 2015. Bird observations and habitat variables performed using the Point Count method, and found thirty observation points at each location, with 30 cm trellis and 200 m plot distance. The analysis of birds and vegetation in Sirimau mountain forests shows that, bird species are dominated by Red Eye (Aplonis Motalica), and more than 50 species of vegetation exist in the research location, dominated by fruits.

Abstract

Makila (Litsea angulata) is a type of commercial timber and is very attractive to many people because of good quality and can also be used as a medicine in curing rheumatic diseases should be assigned the paramount concern. cultivation / reproduce makila can be done in a fast way is through the nursery in the field. in nurseries should also pay attention to things that affect makila, one of which is related to the intensity of sunlight makila seedling growth. The research conducted at the location of the greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, University of Pattimura which take place september until november 2014 with the aim to determine the seedling growth makila (Litsea angulata) to determine what percentage of shade is good for seedling growth makila (Litsea angulata). The experimental design used was completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 (five) treatments, the seedlings without using Shade, Shade 30 percent, 50 percent Shade, Shade 65 percent, and Shade 75 percent. The results showed that the seedling Makila (Litsea angulata) is a kind of tolerance with all shade or kind makila able to grow in places that are open and shaded place.

Abstract

The potential of the historical and cultural society at the state of Nusaniwe with potential for agro-tourism, nature tourism potential that Pintu Kota Beach, Felawatu beach, Bethesda Beach, natural scenery of Gunung Dua, Lapoci and waterfalls Laponot. The latter is a country with tourist potential Latuhalat Santai Beach, Namalatu Beach, Sumber Jaya Beach and Tanjung Batu Konde beach. While seasonal travel is labor time culture. As for the tourism potential of the cultural history of the community, Batu Bicara, and Clump Bamboo Baduri. The aim of the research is identifying potential tourist attraction in Peninsula Nusaniwe comprehensively, analyze the economic value attraction Nusaniwe Peninsula, analyze the relationship between socioeconomic peninsula Nusaniwe with ODTW and Ecotourism Management Formulate strategies based on economic value and social area. The method used is (1) travel cost method to calculate the economic value of the tourist area, (2) the method of Chi-square to see the relationship with the community characteristics ODTW (3) exponential comparison method (MPE) to formulate priorities Ecotourism development strategy. The results showed that the tourism potentials in the Peninsula Nusaniwe namely to State Amahusu the tourism potential of the coast is Batu Capeu, Batu Lubang, Waititei Beach, Pasir Putih Beach. Based on chi-square analysis shows that there is a relationship between family income through community participation towards ODTW. Priorities ODTW development strategy is the development of supporting infrastructure Optimization of travel (22,26%), ecotourism Develop sustainable policies (20,56), improve coordination between government and stakeholders managing ecotourism (18,30), creation of a conducive investment climate (14,95%), strengthening of human resource capacity in the utilization ODTW (13,40%), Improving access to information and the promotion of communications (10,53%).
