Abstract

Hoya coronaria was found in Heath Forest Air Anyir, Bangka in various flower color. Characterization based on morphological characteristics need to clear up the differences between varieties. This research aims to observe morphological variation of six varieties of H. coronaria from Heath Forest Air Anyir, Bangka based on morphology vegetative and flower morphology. The descriptive method was used to describe the morphological character. Determination of color based on Munsell Color Chart for Plant Tissues. The six samples of different varieties was used which has different flower color as follow respectively: yellow corolla with pink corona (var1); yellow corolla with white corona (var2); yellow corolla with pink honey line and pink corona (var3); pink corolla with pink honey line and pink corona (var4); pink corolla with pink honey line and white corona (var5); and white corolla with white corona (var6). The six varieties have different characteristic of vegetative and flower part both on qualitative and quantitative measurement. The cluster analyses resulted two sister groups. The first group (group A) consisted of var3, var4, var5, and var6, and the second group (group B) consisted of var1 and var2. Groups A was consisted of two smaller groups, namely group C and group D. Group C consisted of var3, var4 and var5, while group D consisted of var6

Abstract

Hoya coronaria found in heath forest of Air Anyir, Bangka has diverse colors. Flowers color diversity sometimes correlated varieties or the result of color changes during flowering process. The flowers development process observed from 5 H. coronaria varieties with different color from heath forest of Air Anyir, Bangka.The purpose of this research to know the flowering process and flower color change process some varieties of H. coronaria. This research done from September 2015-January 2016. This study used qualitative method to made detail and systematic description about flowering phase. H.coronaria flowering process consists of flower initation, flower estabilisment and flower development. Flower initation needs 13-15 days, flower estabilisment needs 10-12 days and flower development consists of early blooming process, full blooming and senescene. Early blooming process needs 1-3 days, full blooming needs 5-12 days and senescene needs 1-3 days. During the development process changes from rounded to pentagonal shape and there is a change in size. The observation result showed that 5 varieties are different from one another based on the difference between the colors of the flowers. Variety 1 has yellow corolla without honey line and deep pink corona. Variety 2 has light yellow green corolla with strong pink honey line and moderate red corona. Variety 3 has moderate red corolla with moderate red honey line and moderate red corona. Variety 4 has light yellow green corolla with moderate pink honey line and light yellow green corona. Variety 5 has moderate red without honey line and grayish red corona

Abstract

One of food materials wrappings used are leaves. The leaves are natural and safe material to wrap foods. The use of materials are traditional knowledge is very valuable and including culture wealth. It must be give more attention to perpetuated and developed. This research was taked from April to Desember 2015 in Merawang district Bangka regency. Data colecting tecnic in this research were interview and direct observation, determining informans and location with purposive tecnic. The result of research showed to consist of 12 type from 7 plants family that it’s leaves used as traditional foods wrapping by people Merawang district Bangka regency. Plants species used is Arenga pinnata, Cocos nucifera, Nypa fruticans, Areca cathecu (Arecaceae); Dillenia suffruticosa (Dilleniaceae); Curculigo capitulata (Hypoxidaceae); Musa paradisiaca (Musaceae); Pandanus furcatus, Pandanus tectorius, Pandanus amaryllifolius (Pandanaceae); Bambusa sp. (Poaceae); and Etlingera sp. (Zingiberaceae). Arecaceae family plant is the most plant type is used. The plant type which is often used is banana leaves, namely used to 16 foods type

Abstract

Kelidang is a species belongs to family Moraceae (the jackfruits). Kelidang grow naturally without the cultivation of human beings. Kelidang in Nangka Besar Island is one of the plants which has tree habitus. Kelidang generally used as furniture, making of boat, households and coffin. The purpose of this research was to explore knowledge of Nangka Besar people about kelidang and its use. The research was carried out by using the method of exploratory that included interviews and observations, which was conducted in the hamlet of Nangka Besar Island Tanjung Pura Village District Sungaiselan Central Bangka Regency Province of Bangka Belitung Islands. The results showed that kelidang is one of the plants which has tree habitus and grow naturally without the cultivation of human beings. Kelidang people in Nangka Besar Island take advantage of kelidang stem as the wall of house, board/lath, firewood, making of boat, frames, the furniture and wood/bench, even used as a coffin by Chinese people. The fruit can be eaten. Seeds boiled and roasted peanuts (fried without oil)

Abstract

Animal welfare is importan to improve life quality of animal in husbandry. Statistically, Pangkalpinang has the highest number of cow husbandry among other cities in Bangka. This study aimed to asses the animal welfare on several cow husbandries in Pangkalpinang. The assesment was held on September 2015 on 6 husbandries in Pangkalpinang. Interview, observation and Animal Needs Index (ANI) to collect data. Based on ANI method, there are 5 categories of animal welfare, wich are movement, social contact, quality flooring, light and air, and cleanlines cowshed. Study showed that in general, cattle cow in welfare candition (ANI score 23,8)

Abstract

Animal welfare is a less common issue in Bangka. Animal welfare is the well-being of animals. For several meat consumers, it is important to know how the farmed chicken raised. Bangka Regency has the highest number of broiler among other regencies in Bangka Belitung Province. Since its high population, chicken farm in Bangka Regency were studied as a case study of how animal welfare is applied in the Province. Aim of this research was to assess the level of animal welfare in five chicken farms in Bangka Regency. Data were collected through interview and observation, then were analysed by a modified Animal Needs Index (ANI) from Bartussek. Several animal welfare categories were movement, social interaction, quality flooring, light and air, and cleanliness. Results showed that ANI index were varied from 14.2 to 16.5, with an average is 16. According to the Animal Needs Index (ANI), a score of 16 to<21 indicates the quite sufficient of welfare.

Abstract

The research on vegetative propagation of several H. coronaria varieties from heath forest of Air Anyir Bangka, is the first step to cultivate as well as for conservation purpuses. This research purpose to study the growth of stem cutting from several H. coronaria varieties as well as to find the best cutting method. This research was done on Oktober 2015 until January 2016 at trial house on Gabek 2, Pangkalpinang. The experiment applied randomized factorial completely design of 2 factors with 15 level combinations. The first factor is 5 variety of H. coronaria and the second factor is 3 cutting methods with different leaves numbers. Three replications was applied with 3 cutting each of replications. The parameters were observed on the establishment of cuttings (life cutting presentation), root length, root total number, shoot total number, shoot length, stem diameter, leaves total number, leaf wide and internode total number. The result showed that most of all growth parameters except stem diameter were significantly influenced by the varieties differences. All growth parameters were also significantly influenced by the cutting methods as well as all treatment interaction. This result was assumed influence by cutting age an 7 weeks. The best fast growth varieties was variety 5. The best cutting method was 4 leaves cutting. The best treatment interaction was variety 4 with 4 leaves cutting. The slowest growth varieties was variety 1, and the slowest cutting was non leaves cutting. This result were assumed influencing by some factors such us the numbers of leave, nutrition, hormone, genetic and environment.

Abstract

Lingga Island is the center of the Malay kingdom of Kepulauan Riau Province with local wisdom that is still ingrained in the community. Obat pahit is a decoction of linguistic stew of ethnic lingga community which is believed to be a youthful remedy and maintain stamina. This study aims to find histopathologic changes of liver white mice after the decoction of herb concoction of Obat pahit. The percentage of intercellular damage was nonexistent from the normal control group and positive control but different from the negative control group. Different types of medicinal herbs with different dosage levels. But the damage is still in the normal, accessible category that has no toxic effects from bitter herbs on liver organ.

Abstract

The research to study the influence of the growing media on the growth of Hoya coronaria yellow flowered from Air Anyir heath forest, Bangka was carried out to know the best growing media. It is a first step to cultivate H. coronaria from the wild of the area. This research was done on September 2015 until January 2016 at trial house on Gabek II, Pangkalpinang. Growing media chemical analysis was done at Biology and MIPA laboratorium, Faculty of Agriculture, Fishery and Biology, Bangka Belitung University. This research used completely randomized factorial pattern using a single factor with 7 levels. The experiment was used seven different growing media podsol, red yellow podsolic (ultisol), moss, coco peat, podsol + ultisol, podsol + coco peat and podsol + moss. This research applied 3 replications with 3 Hoya cutting each of replication. Observed parameters were the establishment of cuttings (life cutting persentation), cutting growth persentation, shoot length, shoot diameter, roots total number, root length, leaves total numberand leaf wide. The result showed all growth parameters did not significantly different by the influence of different growing media. The best root growth is on PPMK (podsol+ultisol), while the best shoot growth and the best leaves growth are on the moss.

Abstract

Development of biological potential could to be a solution of pest problems and environmental damage by pesticides. One of the organisms that are currently often be used for biopesticides is the entomopathogenic fungi such as Beauveria brassiana. This study aim to isolate, characterize of pest-resistant fungi and apply it to some agricultural insect pests in vitro. Samples which used were planthoppers, aphids, grasshoppers and isolated fungi Beauveria bassiana from Biogen Laboratory. The research was conducted in Soil and Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory, Dramaga, Bogor. Isolation method with Insect Bait Methode. Isolation and characterization of pest-resistant fungi that are planthoppers and aphids show the result that the great possibilities are the Beauveria bassiana fungus, that is clearly visible from the obtained physical characteristics, the white and sealed hyphae and conidia round oval. In addition, the fungi which used is a pathogenic fungi on the pest of aphids, planthoppers, and grasshoppers.
