Abstract

This paper examines the religious phenomenon of the contemporary Indonesian Muslim middle class. The study is focused on the da'wah model that takes place and is of interest to urban Muslims. With descriptive analysis where datas were collected from the field, the authors found several forms of dakwah that had been prevailing in the middle class of Indonesian Muslims: 1) Model seminars and short courses. This model is at least represented by the Paramadina’s Religious Studies Club (KKA) and FAST; 2) The general study model through television and new internet-based media. Among the popular dais who made use of this route were Aa Gym, Khalid Basalamah, and Felix Siauw; 3) Community recitation model. This last model is usually a follow-up to the second model, where they want a more in-depth study so that they form a limited separate study group. This paper also shows that that the Muslim middle class is actively seeking a form of Islam that suits their needs. They take advantage of information technology for that purpose. And their Islamic passion is not a form of conservatism or radicalism, but rather an effort to become more devout Muslims.

This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach by examining and analyzing facts, expert opinions, theories, and previous researches related to Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk (CWLS) and their potential development. This research finds that Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk can be an alternative sustainable Islamic financial instrument in Indonesia and it can be a source of funds for financing the economic impact due to Covid-19 pandemic. This instrument is very suitable because it has high flexibility, and it is attractive to the Muslim philanthropic middle class. Cash Waqf linked Sukuk also fulfills the conditions for financing the recovery of the Covid-19 pandemic, which requires short and medium-term financing. The Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk model as a source of financing for the recovery of the economic impact due to Covid-19 requires coordination between the Indonesian Waqf Board, the Ministry of Finance, the Implementer of the PEN Program, and organizations or institutions managing community funds to manage cash waqf funds.

Abstract

This study aims to see how millennial hijrah is represented in images and how men and women are represented in hijrah images. Feminist methodology is used with multimodal and gender as a tool of analysis. This is based on the assumption that a text in the study of critical discourse analysis is not to be value-free and has a specific ideological purpose. Data collection techniques by searching on google images with the keyword 'gambar hijrah'. The results showed that the majority of hijrah in the google image was represented by women. There are indications of the dominance of patriarchal ideology in millennial hijrah and gender inequality in women. In addition to patriarchal ideology, the struggle for the hegemony of signs and gender hegemony in the millennial hijrah cannot be separated from the textual reading of the al-Qur'an and al-Hadith.
