Abstract

Describing the ability of PGSD students to understand mathematical concepts in the subject of basic mathematical concepts, as well as identifying students' difficulties in these subjects are the basic objectives of this study. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. 23 students of the PGSD study program were used as subjects in this study. Data collection in this study used tests and documentation. The data analysis used was descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of data analysis obtained on the average score of students' ability to understand mathematical concepts is 60.35 so that they are grouped in the sufficient category. As for the details, there are 2 students in the very good category, 6 students in the good category, and 15 students in the sufficient category. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the ability to understand mathematical concepts of PGSD students in the subject of basic mathematical concepts is still in the sufficient category.

Abstract

Education through learning with heart is an effort to humanize humans. When human behavior today does not show like a caliph who maintains peace in life, such as having shortcuts which deemed appropriate, then the education and teaching system needs to be reformed. A learning model that forms an ability to think logically, critically, creatively, obediently or consistently and fosters self-confidence and character is student-centered learning which includes constructive, interactive and reflective stages.

Abstract

This study was a classroom action research that contain two cycles with pomoting the improvement of student’s mathematical communication ability. This study was applied in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Mandailing Natal (Madina) Plus Keterampilan in the XI MIA grade year 2020/2021 during the covid-19 pandemic. The object of this study was 35 students of XI MIA 2 grade from 165 students of XI MIA grade as the research population. The subject of this study was student’s mathematical communication ability. This study used the student’s mathematical communication ability test and interview instruments that had been carried out the instruments feasibility test. Based on the analysis of the data, we found: (1) the average of student’s mathematical communication ability test increase from 77 at cycle I to 91 at cycle II; (2) the number of students who have mathematical communication ability increase from 16 (46%) students at cycle I to 27 (77%) students at cycle II. The conclusion of this study is covid-19 pandemic context can improve the student’s mathematical communication ability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Auditory, Intellectually, and Repetition (AIR) approach through students mathematical problem solving ability with mathematical word problems.This study used quantitative approach with experiment method. The research design was posttest-only control group. The population was all of eighth grade students in MTsN 2 Kota Sungai Penuh. Two samples were choosen with draw. Conventional method was implemented in control group, while AIR approach was implemented in experiment group. The instrument in this study was students mathematical problem solving ability with story questions test that the test items was analyzed first. The instrument was given in the end oflearning process in both groups. The result of the data analysis was obtained that there was an effect of AIR approach through students mathematical problem solving ability with mathematical word problems.

Abstract

This type of research is descriptive qualitative, which is to describe the creative thinking profile of students in solving mawaris problems in the type of mathematical investigation in terms of gender differences. This research was conducted at IAIN Padangsidimpuan. Sources of data used in this study are primary data sources, namely students majoring in Ahwalu As-Syakhsiyah at IAIN Padangsdimpuan, amounting to 6 people, namely 3 male subjects and 3 female subjects and secondary data sources, namely lecturers who teach the subject of fiqih mawaris in the department. Ahwalu As- Syakhsiyah at IAIN Padangsdimpuan. The data collection instruments used in this study were tests, observation and documentation. The creative thinking test is in the form of questions related to the material of fiqh mawaris which consists of 6 questions. The trial results showed that male subjects' creative thinking was superior to the elaboration indicator (detail) by 80.5%, belonging to the high category while female subjects on the elaboration indicator (69.67%) belonged to the medium category. The trial results showed the details of the answers given by male and female subjects. The ability to think creatively for male subjects and female subjects on three indicators, namely indicators of fluency, flexibility and originality are classified in the low category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical understanding of junior high school students on quadrilateral based on the APOS theory. This study used a qualitative approach to the case study method with the subject as many as 3 students of class VII of one of the State Junior High Schools in Karawang district, using a test question description of comprehension and interview abilities. Data analysis in this study was carried out with data reduction, display data, and conclusion drawing or verification. Based on the results of data analysis, students with high abilities are able to meet the APOS stages on the indicators of presenting concepts in various forms of mathematical representations and developing necessary or sufficient requirements of a concept. Students with moderate abilities are able to meet the APOS stage on the indicators of presenting concepts in various forms of mathematical representations. And students with low abilities have not been able to meet the APOS stages on the four indicators. So, the students' mathematical understanding ability based on the APOS theory on the rectangular material is still low, where students have not been able to meet all the indicators of understanding based on the APOS theory.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the condition of class VII students' interest in learning mathematics at SMP Negeri 7 Padangsidimpuan. This research was conducted using a survey method. The population in this study were all students of class VII. As for the sample in this study were 26 students who were taken from the population with a sampling technique in accordance with the proportions. The instrument used was a learning interest questionnaire. Interest in learning questionnaires distributed to a sample of 20 items. The questionnaire that is distributed to the sample is a valid questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Padangsidimpuan have moderate learning interest in mathematics.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the mistakes made by students in solving mathematical problems in trigonometric materials. This research is a descriptive study with the object of research is class X-MIA MAN 1 Padangsidimpuan with heterogeneous levels of ability. The instrument collects data using essay tests. Data analysis is carried out by reducing the data in the form of paragraphs and images, then drawing conclusions. The results of this study show that the common mistakes made by students in this study are more errors in understanding the problem, errors in planning problem solving, errors in doing calculations and errors in re-examining the answers, namely wrong in understanding the meaning of the question information, not fully understanding the formulas that must be used in doing the questions, errors in the calculation process and students did not find the results requested in the questions,  and the error did not re-check the answer and did not carry out the stages of re-checking.

Abstract

This study aims to study the effectiveness of learning the subject of trigonometric comparison using media concept maps in class X Asy-Syafiiyah International Medan High School TP 2019/2020, to see how much changes in student learning outcomes taught with media concept maps in class X high school students Asy-Syafiiyah International Medan TP 2019/2020. The population in this study were all students of class X at Ash-Syafiiyah International Medan. The results of this study indicate that (1) the level of mastery of students there are 7 students or 18% the level of mastery is very high, 8 students or 21% the level of mastery is high, 18 students or 46% level of mastery is moderate, 5 students or 13% mastery level is low, 1 student or 2% mastery level is very low. This means that class X Asy-Syafiiyah International Medan students have mastered trigonometric comparisons with the application of concept map media. (2) Completeness of learning there are 33 students or 85% who have completed individually and 6 students or 15% who have not finished individually. This means that students have finished classically (3) Out of ten (10) TPKs are expected, achieved by students there are 10 or 100% TPK completed, (4) Observation results indicate that the implementation of learning is in the range of values 3 to 4 (5) The magnitude of the change in learning outcomes of students taught with media concept maps in class X Ash-Syafiiyah International Medan is 2.00, it can be concluded that the application of concept maps is effectively used in learning trigonometric comparisons.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze students’ mathematical logical thinking ability where accelerated learning model been applied. Research is conducted in fifth semester in one of universities in Asahan. It was found that the n-gain mean of mathematical logical thinking ability of class AL students was included in the high category improvement as stated by Hake's n-gain improvement criteria. The class AL standard deviation value shows that the distribution of the n-gain value data varies widely. This shows that the Accelerated learning (AL) learning model can be used as a model that can improve logical thinking skills.
