Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the incarse in the learning outcomes between students whose leraning uses macromedia flash media and the students whose leraning using power point media. This research was conducted using quantitative research through quasi-experimental methods. This study includes two variables, namely learning using macromedia flash and power point as independent variable and learning outcomes as the dependent variable. In this study, researcheres used all students in the one of private high school in the Medanas a study population follwed by sample selection using a random sampling methods. The result obtained are class of XII A-3 as an experimental class and class of XII A-4 as control class. In collecting data, researchers used an  instrument in the form of a students’s mathematics learning achievment test which was given twice, namely before being given learning using macromedia flash (pre test) and after being given learning using macromedia flash and power point (post test). Furthermore, hypotesis testing is performed on the data that has been obtained using the t-test with the help of the SPSS program. Hypothesis testing resukt show that increase in mathematics learning outcomes of students whose learning uses macromedia flash media is higher than students whose learning uses power points. Therefore, it is recomended that learning to use macromedia flash media be used as an alternative learning media for teachers to improve student learning outcomes and the other ability of students.

Abstract

Learning in schools  not only focused on providing provisioning capabilities are theoretical knowledge, but also how to keep learning experience of the students is always associated with the actual problems that occur in the environment. Contextual learning (contextual teaching and learning) is a concept that can help teachers learn to associate the content to be studied with real-world situations students and encourage students to make connections between the knowledge possessed by its application in their lives as members of families and communities. Contextual learning focused onhow students understand the meaning of what they learned, what the benefits are, what state they are in, how to achieve it, and how they demonstrate what they have learned.

Abstract

Mathematics understanding and communication are two essensial competencies that should be mastered by the learners. Mathematics understanding connects pattern and its relationship, that is to connect mathematics’ concept with the laerners’ bachground knowledge. Then, mathematics communication has an important role in conveying mathematics. This is a major challenge in learning mathematics that assume to emphasize in transferring knowledge, where teachers are more dominant than learners in finding, using and elaborating knowledge. Nowdays, there are some strategies that can be used as an alternative learning to be more fun and can injluence mathematics understanding and communication of learners, such realistic mathematics education. Realistics mathematics education is a learning that shows not only the connection with the real world but also the situation that could be imagined by the learners.

Abstract

The background of this research is the lack of understanding in mathematics concepts and creativity Students. They have difficulty when solving geometry problems. This due by lack of learning model chosen with the material presented .the problem in this study is whether the model of cooperative learning. Teams Games Tournament (TGT) will be able to  increase the understanding concept and creativity of students learning in material geometry. The purpose of this study is to describe an improved understanding of the concept and creativity in learning geometry.This research is a classroom action research, conducted on 23 students ofclass VII-A MTs.S. Pondok Pesantren Dar Al-Maarif Basilam Baru. The understanding of the concept collected using test and the creativity of student collected using observation sheets.This study was done by two cycles and each cycle consisting of two meetings. Based on test data and observation we concluded that the application of learning models Teams Games Tournament proven to improve students understanding of concept creativity in the learning of mathematics, especially geometry material.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the interaction between improving students’ creative thinking ability toward the learning approach that is the End-Ended Approach and Conventional Learning and Mathematical Early Skills (KAM) of the students. The research was conducted in one of State Junior High School with population of all students of class VIII. Two classes were selected from the population as a sample of the research using purposive sampling technique. Conventional Learning is implemented in the control class and the Open-Ended approach is implemented in the experimental class. This research uses the instrument of creative thinking ability test to see the improvement of students’ creative thinking ability. The data processing of students’ creative thinking ability based on mathematical early ability (KAM) is done by using two–way ANOVA test at 5% significance level (α = 0,05). followed by Post Hoc LSD test. Based on data analysis result, it is obtained: (1) there is a difference  of improvement of creative thinking ability between students who gain learning by using Open-Ended approach with  students who abtained Conventional Learning from the Mathematicsl Beginning Skill (KAM) of students; (2) there is no interaction between the learning approaches (Open-Ended and Conventional) and students’ Mathematical Abilities (high, medium, and low) towards improving students’ creative thinking ability; (3) students show positive attitudes toward the Open Ended approach. This study  is a learning factor and theoretical ability of the students does not provide the same effect on the students’ creative thinking ability.

Abstract

The objectives of the study were, to find out the result of student in learning Math before and after using problem based learning model, to find out whether problem based learning model able to improve students’ ability in learning Math. The material topic was Addition and Reduction of integer operations. The subject of the study were 33 students at the seventh grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 07 Medan Perjuangan in academic year 2018/2019. The object of the study was problem based learning model in improving students’ ability in learning math with th topic Addition and Reduction of integer operations. The data were collected by using test, observation, documentation and interview. The data were analyzed in several steps, they were: data reduction, data display, and verifiying/conclusion. The result of students’ ability in learning math before using problem based learning model was low. It was represented by percentage of students’minimum mastery criteria only 15,15% with average 52,27. After using problem based learning model, students’ ability was improved. The percentage of students’ minimum mastery criteria was 60,60% and 75 at the end of cycle I and 90,90% and 87.57 at the end of cycle II. As a result, the using of problem based learning model in learning math with topic Addition and Reduction of integer operations was able to improve the ability og the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 07 Medan Perjuangan in academic year 2018/2019.

Abstract

The background of the problem in this study is the students 'mistakes in solving mathematical questions of Algebraic material which are seen from the results of tests, interviews and the percentage of students' mistakes in solving operational problems in Algebra form.Based on the background of the research above, the purpose of this study is to find out the mistakes of students in solving the operational problems of algebraic form and the factors that influence students' mistakes in solving the algebraic forms of operating questions in class VIII MTsN Siabu.This research was conducted at MTsN Siabu. Data analysis was carried out in the form of descriptive qualitative analysis, namely analyzing and presenting facts systematically. The technique used to collect data is tests and interviews. Furthermore, this study has primary data sources, namely class VIII MTsN Siabu and secondary data sources, namely the teacher of mathematics study class VIII MTsN Siabu.The results of this study are the types of mistakes made by students in solving operating problems algebraic forms are strategy errors, translation errors, conceptual errors, calculation errors, and sign errors. Then the causes of errors made by students in completing algebraic forms of operating questions are internal factors and external factors.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the validity and practicality of the learning trajectory through a realistic approach to the subject of the Pythagorean theorem in SMP Negeri 1 Hulu Sihapas. This research is a type of validation study design research that aims to develop local instruction theory (LIT) in collaboration with researchers and educators to improve the quality of learning. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Hulu Sihapas with product trial subjects in class VIII-A, totaling 26 students. Data collection instruments used were validation sheets, questionnaires and using validity and practicality analysis techniques. The results showed that: 1) the learning trajectory through a realistic approach is said to be valid with validity 85 of the analysis of 3 validators; and 2) the learning trajectory through a realistic approach is said to be practical with a value of 85.44 from the student response questionnaire. The learning trajectory generated in this study is in the form of activities undertaken by students to achieve learning objectives, namely to understand the Pythagorean theorem concept.
