Abstract

In the era of economic sustainability in Indonesia, coffee commodity is expected to continue to increase foreign exchange for the country, as well as able to provide jobs for the community so that a concept called agro-tourism is needed. The research question asked is how the strategy of development of Agroecotourism Tutur’s Coffee should be done in order to increase the number of tourists who visit at once can compete with other tourist attractions. The SWOT analysis is used to identify the various factors systematically both forces and opportunities, while simultaneously minimizing the weaknesses and threats from the development of the Agroecotourism Tutur’s Coffee. Analysis of the IFE and EFE matrix results in internal strategic factors in the form of strengths and weaknesses and external factors in the form of opportunities and threats. Power that is owned by Agroecotourism Tutur’s Coffee is a beautiful natural panorama, has a coffee processing from seed to ready to serve as a tourist, and the price of entry is cheap. While the weaknesses are owned by government support focus on the cultivation of coffee has not been to the aspect of tourism. On the other hand, the opportunity is owned by popular nature trend and market segment is not limited by age. While the main threat that must be faced until now the concept of a similar tour.

Abstract

Deforestation, intensive cultivation, and mismanagement in Tutur district have caused soil degradation and environmental problems. Soils which develop under secondary forests in west slope of Bromo mountain have been degraded by land-use changes (LUC). The effects of long-term LUC and cultivation were evaluated for six land-use types (LUT) including: 1) secondary forest of natural re-growth (UF), land use changes from forest to 2) vegetables, 3) apple, and 4) Coffee garden with understory plant, 5) Coffee garden without understory plant, and 6). Agro forestry. This study was aim to identify indicators of location specific soil-quality on different land-use types. Soils were sampled from identified cropping system and from forest areas were analyzed soil chemical and physical characteristics. Important soil quality indicators were identified and was developed for the area. Result of the experiment showed that almost all of soil- quality indicators changed significantly to land use changes. Average of soil total nitrogen, Soil organic varbon, pH (H20 and KCl), water aggreagte stability, cation exchange capacity (CEC), clay value were 0.04, -0.77, -0.29, -0.38, -6.49, -9.83, -36.40 respectively. While soil P, silt and sand were increased 16.50, 29.80, and 6.80 respectively. The value of CEC has positive correlation to soil clay and Org-C, and it have negative correlation to silt and sand.

Abstract

Silicon is the second most abundant in the soil and Silicon could be considered as an essential element in many crops to enhancing growth and alleviating biotic and abiotic stresses. Silicon present exclusively in the form of silicic acid (H4SiO4). It is absorbed by plants in the form of silicic acid. The aim of research is knowing the content of Chlorophyll and Abscisic Acid of soybean under drought stress by silicon application. The different levels of Silicon were tested in a pot experiment to assess their effects on chlorophyll content and Abscisic acyd on several cultivar of soybeans under drought stress. The results show that there is no interaction between each treatment cultivar and silicon. The absorbance value of chlorophyll leaf using spectrophotometer shows that chlorophyll content differs significantly on each cultivar of soybeans. The increasing application of silicon concentration tends to increase chlorophyll content but decreases the levels of Abscisic Acid (ABA) in leaves.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the salt producing countries that use sea water as a source of raw materials, the quality of salt produced is influenced by the quality of sea water. The resulting average salt quality contains 85-90% NaCl. Those salt quality are still below of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for human salt’s consumption sodium chloride content is 94.7 % (dry base) and for industrial salt 98,5 %. The improvement of seawater salt quality can be done by several methods: leaching (hydro-extraction), re-crystallization without chemicals or with chemicals, and ion exchangers. In this study we studied the improvement the quality of seawater salt by hydro-extraction method. The objective of this research to improve the quality of seawater salt by hydro-extraction method. The hydro-extraction is a method to improve the quality of salt by washing with saturated salt solution, this method influence by size of salt (diameter), time of hydro-extraction, saturated salt solution concentration and recycle time of saturated salt solution. Based on the results of the research, the hydro-extraction method can produce salt with purity 99,34 % NaCl. The condition is achieved at 30/40 mesh salt size and the time of use of saturated salt solution 5 times.

Abstract

Precipitated silica is a silica product, containing silica, a white powder, a large enough porous and nano particle sized. The precipitated silica products are needed to support the operation of various types of industries such as automotive tire industry, rubber industry, cosmetics industry, electronics industry, agriculture and others. This precipitate silica can be produced by a chemical reaction process between the sodium silicate solution and various types of acids such as hydrochloric, sulfuric, acetate and other acids. In this study, the source of silica was obtained from a pumice while precipitation formation was carried out with the use of carbon dioxide gas (CO2). The sodium silicate solution was obtained by extracting the silica contained in a pumice with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution and heated to 100C for 1 hours. The carbon dioxide gas is injected into the aqueous solution of sodium silicate in a bubble column reactor and there is a reaction to form a precipitated silica. Based on research results found that the quality of precipitated silica has a quality: white colors, 85-90% silica content, 12-20% aluminum oxide content and surface area 108-227 m2/g. The
