IJAL (Indonesian Journal of Academic Librarianship) is the official journal of APPTIS JATIM (Asosiasi Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Islam Jawa Timur). Abstract

The development of information that is getting wider and the need for information is increasing, making information systems play their role as a medium for disseminating information. With various conveniences and a series of information system facilities as a medium for information retrieval, there are various models of information seeking behavior in meeting the need for such information. Especially nowadays people rely more on social media as a place to get information. The need for information arises due to a knowledge gap that arises in a person towards the information needs he needs. Everyone has different information seeking behavior according to their individual needs. There are several characteristics of the information seeking behavior model applied by David Ellis, Wilson, and Kulthau, in meeting information needs.

Abstract

The processing of library materials is an integral part of supporting the implementation of library service activities. In processing library materials, it is necessary to apply international rules and principles. This study aims to determine and describe how the processing of library materials at the Library of IAIN Kediri. This research uses qualitative research methods with a case study approach. The steps in this research are through the data and literature collection stage, the analysis stage, the data presentation stage, and the conclusion drawing stage. The conclusion in this study, namely cataloguing library materials, has followed the rules that apply internationally in cataloguing library materials. The obstacles experienced by the UPT Library of IAIN Kediri in processing library materials are the lack of human resources who have library science qualifications, the lack of human resources for librarians who master the technical skills of processing library materials, and the lack of infrastructure in the library material processing activities.

Abstract

The internet will continue to develop along with the times, this also has an impact on the development of information technology as well as the needs of the community begin to change. Today's society has begun to create virtual communities according to their needs and has begun to switch to mobile-based online applications. This mobile-based online application is starting to become familiar to the virtual community, such as the gojek application, the halo doc application, and the online shopping application. Therefore this can be an innovation in the world of libraries. Libraries can build a mobile-based online application that can be accessed via Android which contains the world of libraries. The purpose of this research is to make innovations related to the needs of virtual communities in the form of mobile-based online library applications. This research method uses descriptive qualitative method through literature study, namely research based on literature study and analysis of the development of problems in society. The results of the research are in the form of designing mobile-based online library application layouts in the form of profiles and library visits throughout Indonesia, library design services, library management services, e-books, and consulting book recommendations and research sources, and talking with users and librarian.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology today has contributed to the birth of archives into new media called digital archives. Digital archives are archives that are stored in digital format to be freely accessible for a long period of time. Archival institutions have an important role in maintaining, storing and preserving archives that have important value in them. To maintain the integrity of the information and ensure that the value of the information contained in the archive can be maintained and used for a long time, the preservation of digital archives needs to be done regularly. The method used in writing this article is the literature study method. This article aims to provide knowledge to readers, namely the wider community and related institutions regarding the necessity of preserving and preserving archives in digital format, namely as an effort and also an alternative in saving important information contained in these archives. Digital preservation, the driving factor must be digital archive preservation as well as some understanding related to digital archive preservation.

Abstract

The rapid development of this era is certainly a challenge for the world of libraries considering that the library is now starting to leave the library that becomes a source of information and switch to more sophisticated information systems. Based on this, the library needs to make a new breakthrough to maintain its existence and attract reading interest and evaporate the ability of information literacy to continue to grow. This article discusses the cooperation or collaboration carried out by libraries and cafes in improving literacy and also the desire to visit the libraries of Syiah Kuala University and Coffe Cho. With this article is expected to be an inspiration for readers to be able to pour ideas that seek to maintain the existence of libraries and also to attract reading interests and improve public literacy.
